It was delicious. The final rice dish and shichimi at the end were extremely tasty. The woman who served us was very cute and friendly, and she took great care with each dish. I want to go back again. There are many drink options that you can enjoy with your meal. Just be careful because the entrance is hard to find!

Bullet train Fukuoka business trip. I arrived late and stayed in a hotel in the Tenjin area, which is different from my usual stay in Nakasu. I didn't know where anything was... So I searched around the hotel and found that there were many shops in the alleys. Whenever I come to Kyushu, I always go for the best Kyushu dishes, but lately I can't eat as much, so I focused on finding Japanese cuisine. I found this place. Nirugo. They serve appetizers and drinks in a course style, so I decided to call them. No answer... I thought about going to the location of the restaurant, but I couldn't find it... Then I received a call back and they kindly called me back. Although they usually don't accept sudden guests, they reserved a seat for me. They told me the location of the restaurant, but I couldn't find it even after passing by it... I was surprised. When I entered the restaurant, I saw that it mainly had a counter. Since it was sudden, I ordered a 6-course meal. I chose their homemade pear sour drink. It was very delicious with the flavorful pear puree, shochu, and soda. The first dish was Goto udon with matsutake mushrooms. It didn't go as far as being steamed in a pot, but the aroma of matsutake and the broth matched well. The Goto udon was also delicious. I then switched to a barley shochu mixed with Darjeeling tea. It had a strong aroma. The second dish was horse mackerel with yolk mustard and ponzu jelly. The fish itself was delicious, and the combination of yolk mustard and ponzu was good. However, the aroma of the tea mixed drink was too strong and didn't go well with the dish... I made the wrong choice. The third dish was satsuma-age with sauce and Western wasabi. It was delicious. I like the seasoning in Kyushu. The fourth dish was Shine Muscat white sum, topped with sake lees. It was delicious, but it was light and lacked impact. The fifth dish was motsu (offal) pouch, served when they found out I was from another region. I like motsu, but I may not have understood the original Fukuoka motsu, so I'm not sure... The motsu was a bit tough, maybe because it was stewed?? Also, the gyoza flavor was a bit strong and the motsu flavor was weak. It was delicious, but just a note! Most importantly, it's the thought that counts, right? The sixth dish was something new. Shishamo spring rolls. It was a new experience. It was delicious. It goes well with sansho pepper and kinome. I also had Beniharu's sweet potato shochu during this time. It was light and very easy to drink. The bill was less than 5000 yen for 6 dishes and 3 drinks. This cost performance and customer service would be unimaginable in Tokyo. I would love to visit this restaurant again when I come to Fukuoka. Thank you for the meal.

I visited to enjoy sake and small dishes! The entrance looked like a hair salon, so I was already excited from the start! They kept suggesting sake that would go well with the food one after another. Their selection was unique and not seen elsewhere. The dishes were served in beautiful Arita or Kutani ware! It was a hit! I had warm noodles to settle my stomach, followed by seared swordfish sashimi with sake. Each sake was a local favorite. The grated daikon and dashi rolled omelet paired well with sake on the right, which was designed to be enjoyed by young or foreign customers. The sake on the left was made by a young brewer from an established brewery, aiming to bring change to your palate. The sake lees cookie sandwich was delicious! The sand liver and onion pouch had a strong dashi flavor. The fish with grated daikon and yuzu was tasty! The fried meat soboro was also delicious! And then, freshly cooked rice with dashi poured over tofu, topped with wasabi! It was gently delicious! They offer original dishes and a wide variety of sake. It's clear they put effort into their research! They explained everything in detail, making it a fulfilling experience! The pricing for the meals is very reasonable, and the dishes and sake are creative and enjoyable! Especially recommended for sake lovers. They also put extra effort into their original cocktails. Be sure to try those as well.

You can't tell what kind of restaurant it is just by looking at it. They serve a relaxed selection of 12 dishes with a focus on dashi broth. Each dish is not large, but when you eat while drinking, you'll be full by the end. The creatively crafted dishes pair well with Japanese sake and make you feel tipsy. They even made onigiri with the leftover rice for us to take home. The lively and enjoyable atmosphere inside the restaurant.

"Nirugo" is a Japanese restaurant that specializes in dishes with broth as the main ingredient. I tried the 12-course meal for 4950 yen and every dish had a gentle and comforting flavor. My personal favorite was the crispy seaweed-wrapped Iso-maki. The meal ended with delicious rice topped with tofu, called Bean Rice. I also want to try the O-tomeshi at some point. The quality of the food for the price of 4950 yen is wonderful. I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

The course menu, which is carefully crafted with a focus on the broth, is filled with delicious flavors that linger in your mouth. The small dishes served as appetizers allow you to enjoy a variety of dishes. The selection of shochu changes depending on the season, and the owner only offers shochu from good vintage years, not just based on brand. It was very enjoyable to drink while listening to the owner's knowledge about the brands. Course meals may seem intimidating, but this place allows you to relax and enjoy your favorite shochu. Highly recommended.

Popular bistro Yorugo in Fukuoka challenges a Japanese-style dining concept. They do not accept media coverage and usually only take reservations for one seating. They want customers to enjoy their meal slowly. The sign outside the restaurant still says "Perming Salon" from the previous tenant, so it's not easy for passersby to notice the place. The interior has a slightly atmospheric lighting that creates a calm ambiance. There are private rooms at the back that can accommodate 5-6 people, all with counter seating. The dishes are all creatively prepared with unique touches. The spiced tea cocktail was particularly interesting and original. Yorugo's reputation for exceeding expectations is evident in this restaurant as well. We opted for a la carte this time, but the set menu (4,950 yen) that the neighboring table ordered seemed to cover a wide range of recommended dishes and offered good value. This is a recommended spot for those who want to impress others with their knowledge of hidden gems.

Yorgo's third store. I found it on Instagram and decided to make a reservation because some out-of-town guests were visiting. Reservations can be made through Instagram. I forgot to take a picture of the entrance, but the name of the place is quite unique - "Perma Salon Do Oota," like a hair salon. The owner's desire to do something different - from Western to Chinese to Japanese - is evident in this restaurant. They use dashi to create unique dishes that are enjoyable. I ordered the 12-course menu for ¥4950. The courses included cold potato isomen, oden with kuwai and kikurage, sashimi with tai and sawara, oden daikon with spicy Nara miso, kamasu and isobemaki, chawanmushi with snow crab, persimmon with sake kasu, oden with inari and shimeji, awohata yu-an yaki with yuzu dashi jelly, pork dashi shabu, bean rice with wasabi, pickled vegetables, pear and white wine jelly with lemon sherbet. As a fan of dashi, I really enjoyed the comforting flavors. The talkative and quirky owner's conversation was also enjoyable. The course was satisfying, especially with the sashimi. Even the bean rice at the end was delicious. Overall, everything was tasty - thank you for the feast.

There is a dashi cuisine restaurant on Watanabe Street. The restaurant doesn't have a signboard or lighting, so you might not notice it unless you know it's there. Even if you know of its existence, you might have trouble finding it, and the owner mentioned that they often receive inquiries over the phone. The menu offers both courses and a la carte dishes. The staff suggested serving the dishes as single portions, even though they are meant for two people. Seeing highball (lukewarm) on the menu lineup, I was convinced that this was a great place. And my hunch was right – it was a paradise for drinkers. The dishes use dashi, making them a perfect match for alcohol. You can enjoy a variety of dishes in small portions. I only intended to have a few warm sake, but ended up having two, three, and eventually stopped counting around the sixth. It's a place where you can drink comfortably and want to keep drinking. The conversation with the gentle owner was enjoyable, and I had a great time, feeling like it wasn't my first visit. I look forward to going back soon for more drinks.

Popular restaurant "Yorgo" and "Gyoza no New York" have opened a new shop focusing on dashi-based small dishes. The exterior remains the same as when it was a perm salon, which is a symbol of confidence. The dishes are reasonably priced with a lot of options to choose from. I decided to leave it to the chef and ordered the 4950 yen course. Each dish was carefully prepared, highlighting the essence of dashi. The meal was finished with freshly cooked rice in a feather pot, which was also delicious. I would love to visit again at a leisurely pace.

This place is interesting! The entrance is designed to look like an old beauty salon, keeping the original look of the previous shop, which I found to be quite innovative. I also appreciate the clever naming sense of Yorgo's sister restaurant, Nerugo. I made a reservation and ordered a Highball as my first drink, which was surprisingly different and had been adjusted to be easy to drink and pair well with the oden and dashi. I already want to become a regular here! The dishes are mainly warm and comforting, but the appetizers served in between are also incredibly delicious. Just imagine it through the pictures.

Today's dinner was at Nerugo, a restaurant affiliated with Yorugo. Despite being part of the same group, this place specializes in Japanese cuisine. We sat at the long counter and ordered the course menu. We started with a toast with beer, followed by a dish of potatoes cut like noodles in dashi broth, which reminded me of Yorugo. The courses continued with sushi, simmered dishes, grilled dishes, all served at a good pace. Each dish had a unique twist, and every bite brought a new discovery. The sushi rolls had a spicy mustard miso called "akegarashi" inside, which was delicious. Inside the square daikon radish was Nara-zuke, a finely chopped pickle. How did they make it so flavorful? Everything was incredibly delicious, and the recommended sake kept coming. We left with very satisfied bellies. The staff was friendly and engaging, making the experience even better. During the current time, they only offer the course menu, but I heard they will soon start serving a la carte as well. I will definitely come back when I crave that umami flavor. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I found this place on SNS and was intrigued, as the owner also runs popular restaurants like "Yorgo" and "Gyoza no Las Vegas". This is their third restaurant which opened on 5/1. When I called to inquire, they said it's okay to visit alone, so I made a reservation and went. It's located near Watanabe Street where many restaurants are lined up. The entrance doesn't have the restaurant's name, but instead says "Perma Salon Do Oota", which is quite interesting. There is no sign saying "Nirugo", the name of the restaurant is a play on the word "niru" which means to cook. The interior has only a counter and has a stylish atmosphere. They were following social distancing guidelines. They offer well-thought non-alcoholic drinks. The non-alcoholic lemon sour was refreshing and delicious. During my visit, they only had a set course for 4400 yen, but they plan to add a la carte options in the future. I found out later that the owner chef was serving and he was very friendly and had a good sense of humor. I have visited Yorgo's previous restaurants a few times, but I didn't recognize him without his glasses and we never really talked before. The dishes I tried were all delicious, especially the potato somen, freshly fried ganmo, and spear squid and horse mackerel isobe maki. The atmosphere at the counter was enjoyable as you can see the cooking process up close. The staff were attentive and the food was well-prepared. The meal ended with a refreshing dessert of orange jelly and lemon granita. Overall, the dishes were all made with a lot of thought and creativity, using unique ingredients and flavors.

It had been a while since I visited Nirugo. I went there about 3 times. It's a small dishes restaurant that focuses on dashi, offering only a 12-course menu. The exterior of the restaurant is hard to find, but the interior is calming and cozy. The course menu changes each time I visit, which makes it exciting. I heard they have a smaller 6-course option starting at around 9 pm, which I'm curious about. Thank you for the delicious meal!

First of all, there are no signs so it's easy to get lost at the entrance. The door that says "the same as the previous beauty salon" is lovely! It's a nostalgic and calming space. The food is like that of a high-end Japanese restaurant, with gentle flavors. I have been back about four times.
