I am participating in a bus tour organized by the Living Newspaper to Kurokawa Onsen. A Living employee is the tour guide, and before arriving at the first rest stop, Yamada Service Area on the Oita Expressway, they briefly explained...↓↓
"Apple and Grape Tree," a popular shop in the local area of Asakura, has a 900-tsubo fruit orchard and is known for its popular sweets and bread. In particular, their apple pie, made with plenty of freshly picked apples, is an ultimate delicacy that people come from far and wide to buy. They are planning to sell these apple pies at this Yamada Service Area soon, so you might be able to purchase them here as well. However, they sell out quickly, so there is a high chance that they might already be sold out by this time (10:00 AM). The bread is also delicious, so be sure to try it...
As soon as the bus arrived at the SA parking lot, everyone headed towards the restroom, but I ran in the opposite direction straight to the shop. I was the first customer~(^▽^) The bread displayed at the shop looked delicious with local ingredients... I found the famous apple pie, and there were two boxes of 2 pieces each left (700 yen per box), so I bought one box. I also purchased a loaf of apple cream cheese bread. It is quite heavy. They also sell whole pies (15 cm in diameter, 3,000 yen).
Despite the tour still ahead, I already have extra baggage /( ̄- ̄)\. Carefully, I brought them back home, and when I opened the box, the golden part of the apple was dazzling. The large cuts of apple compote retain their shape, giving a slight crunch... It is dynamic, with a subtle sweetness and a refreshing elegance. Truly an exquisite apple pie.
The bread also had chunks of apple and cheese, making it a luxurious treat. Since it's easy to stop by at the SA, I would love to try it again~.
