The snow will cover the Sangoku Pass in a few weeks. I don't usually take this road, but I had some business ahead and decided to pass through after a long time. I stopped by a café on the way back. The temperature was 5 degrees colder, so I stopped to buy a coffee. It was so cold that I had to warm up with a hot drink. Today, I wonder how many people will agree with me?? On this day, there was quite a bit of fog at Sangoku Pass, making it hard to see the other side. It seems like in the morning, it turns into a sea of clouds. I've never seen it though... It was only for takeout. It may have been due to the time or the season, but on this day, only takeout was available. Maybe it was close to closing time, so they only offered takeout. I found out that they do latte art and stuff when I looked it up. Each coffee has a name like... Komorebi (medium roast) Hidamari (medium dark roast) Mori no ka (dark roast) Jukai (extra dark roast) I didn't know how strong each one was, so I asked the staff. How strong is Mori no ka? It's quite strong... The end. Hmm, not the most pleasant response. I usually drink black coffee and don't like strong acidity, so when I mentioned that, they suggested the medium dark roast, and I went with that. If you were a traveler from out of town and wanted to have a nice experience on your trip, you might feel a bit... disappointed. Even locals might feel the same way... They had a stove burning. I really wanted to drink here. But it was closed. Too bad. But the stove was really warm. The temperature at that time was around 6 degrees. Is it usually this cold around here at this time of year? I asked... Yes. The end. I burst out laughing. The Hidamari coffee was quite light. It had little bitterness, no acidity, and was easy to drink. They ground the beans and brewed it right in front of me. Hmm, the coffee is delicious but... I wanted to leave a good memory since it's not a place I visit often. So, I found it. It's cold. Because it's cold, I wanted to eat ice cream. I don't usually eat it here, so I ordered one. It's 50 yen more inside the shop than outside. And they apparently give you a topping as a service. I chose vanilla chocolate soft serve, with vanilla topping. I hesitated between caramel and chocolate for the topping, but went with chocolate. It was good even without any topping. It was quite tall, about 6 swirls. The cone was waffle. It was a nice touch. The taste was delicious. The milk flavor was not very strong, the texture was smooth, not too sweet, and not too heavy on the palate. The chocolate flavor was good, and even without any topping, it was delicious. The waffle cone was crispy and had its own sweetness, which was also tasty. In Hokkaido, many places have a strong milk flavor, but here it was less... but still delicious. It was a soft serve with a unique taste that I had never tried before. However!!! It was cold, so cold! Thank you for the meal. ⇒ I want to see latte art being done inside the shop.
