I was born and raised in Wajiro town. There is a restaurant called "Wenoya" located on the same premises as the Kame no I Hotel, and the budget-friendly buffet restaurant "Shidaka" is also there. For dinner, I decided to go to Wenoya, a place known for its connection to Yaguchi of Morning Musume. They offer all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu with various courses available, and I chose the top-tier "Premium Black Wagyu Zabuton Course" this time. First, you choose from two types of broth, and I selected kombu dashi and soy milk dashi. They also offer a free-flowing drink option, including the unique black oolong tea. I indulged in the tea despite coming for an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu, as it's not often you see black oolong tea offered. As for the meat, the most delicious was definitely the "zabuton" marbled meat. It tastes refreshing when lightly cooked in the pot and dipped in ponzu sauce. You pay almost 5000 yen, so they better serve quality meat. After trying all the meat, I found that as the rank decreases, the meat becomes leaner, catering to those who prefer a lighter taste, even in the cheaper courses. One recommended item here is the "tsukune" meatballs. They have classic tsukune, basil cheese tsukune, and plum tsukune. When I visited, there was also quail egg tsukune available. The quail egg tended to fall to the bottom of the pot when cooked, making it challenging to eat, so it might have been removed. The classic tsukune is flavorful and delicious, and the basil cheese tsukune is also recommended. There is also a lively middle-aged lady server who always shares personal stories before attending to your needs. Another server, a young girl who seems to work part-time at a snack bar, also likes to share her life stories with customers. While I find it entertaining, those who prefer minimal conversation may encounter servers who stick to the necessary details. Wajiro used to have very few dining options, but it's gradually flourishing with more restaurants like Wenoya popping up, which is a delightful development.
