On the morning of the second day of our family trip, we headed to a place I had been interested in before, which was quite a distance from Hoshino Resort Tomamu The Tower. We passed them in a hurry, but looking back, I regret not stopping for a photo. When we reached Naitai Terrace, we were once again blown away by the breathtaking views. It was time for lunch, so we lined up at the ticket machine. The tables were all full, but we managed to get a seat quickly. My daughters ordered Naitai Burger BBQ and Tartar Sauce for 1,120 yen each, while my partner had the Locomoco Donburi for 1,220 yen. As for me, I decided to try the Salmon Fry Burger with Tartar Sauce for 750 yen. The food was prepared quickly, and my order was called out before long. The Salmon Fry Burger with Tartar Sauce was delicious and quite filling - a great deal for 750 yen! I tasted everyone's dishes, but I might choose the same one next time. After the meal, we got soft serve ice cream (a mix of milk and chocolate) to go and took photos of the beautiful scenery. The view from the men's restroom was also impressive, with a panoramic view below while you do your business. This place exceeded our expectations and left us wanting to come back for more. It was truly a place of wonder and delight!

Due to abnormal weather conditions the previous day, the electricity system was cut off, resulting in soft serve ice cream, milk, and hamburgers being unavailable. I had to settle for dark roast coffee. The scenery was nice and the temperature wasn't bad, so it was disappointing. When you visit Hokkaido, this is a place you must stop by. By the way, the restroom is also very open and inviting, so be sure to use it.

I had roast beef bowl and a hamburger for lunch, and soft serve ice cream for dessert. The view of the ranch from the window is amazing. The quality of the roast beef exceeded my expectations and I finished it all in no time. The hamburger was a bit pricey at 2000 yen for just the burger. Soft serve ice cream (Ushi) I visited Naitai Kogen for the first time, it's a wonderful spot where you can enjoy a meal while looking at the beautiful scenery on a sunny day. I chose the mixed soft serve ice cream called "Ushi", with the milk flavor labeled as "Shiro" and the chocolate as "Kuro". The taste is very smooth and rich. The milk flavor "Shiro" is also rich and delicious, but the chocolate flavor "Kuro" was so dark, I had never seen such a black chocolate soft serve before! The chocolate flavor was also very rich and surprisingly delicious! By the way, the hamburger and other food menu items also look delicious. I would like to try them next time I visit!

This is a tourist facility where you can enjoy the Nay Tai Kogen Ranch in Kamishihoro Town. On a sunny day, you can enjoy the otherworldly scenery where the green expanse of land meets the clear blue sky on the horizon, stretching endlessly. It's a spot that perfectly captures the essence of Tokachi. As it is a ranch, the special hamburgers are tempting, but the main attraction is the soft serve ice cream. I chose the cow (450 yen) and decided to try the waffle cone this time, as it looked delicious. The milky vanilla and rich chocolate combination not only tastes delicious but also looks beautiful with the contrast in colors! The crispy cone is also delicious, making it the best cone I've ever had, almost to the point where you could enjoy it without the soft serve ice cream!

I went to Naitai Kogen for the first time and it was amazing! I enjoyed soft serve ice cream while admiring the beautiful scenery. It was part of my trip to Tokachi. I stayed in Shiho. Since I was already there, I decided to visit Naitai Kogen! As I drove from Kamishihoro Road Station, the world around me started to change. It felt like I was in a movie world! As a Hokkaido resident and someone who enjoys driving, I have seen most of the famous sights in the area, but Naitai Kogen was different. It was incredibly vast. In Hokkaido, it's similar to the beautiful hills of Biei Town. Biei has charming hills scattered around, each with its own appeal. But Naitai Kogen is like all those lovely hills gathered in one place, and you can drive through them. Honestly, I wonder why I had never visited before, despite coming to Tokachi many times. I regret not coming sooner because the scenery was breathtaking. I arrived at Naitai Terrace, which opened in June 2019. The parking lot was quite spacious, but being a Saturday, it was quite full. There were many cows right in front of the parking lot, creating a relaxed atmosphere. There was a ticket machine with a long line of people, so I waited in line. There was also a section for merchandise, but it seemed to overlap with what was being sold at Kamishihoro Road Station. I didn't look it up, but if they are so similar, maybe they have the same management. The soft serve ice cream I was looking forward to had three flavors: white, black, and cow. The names are cute. They also had food items like burgers and loco moco bowls. You purchase at the ticket machine and hand the ticket to the staff in the adjacent booth. Since food items may cause a wait, there was a separate window where you receive your order based on the number on your ticket. I was impressed by this system. There was a dedicated register for merchandise, and by buying at the ticket machine, you could place your order in the kitchen. Sweet items were handed to you right away. I thought the line was a bit long, but it moved quickly and smoothly. There were moments where people weren't used to the ticket machine, causing a slight delay, but others helped out. Soft Serve Ice Cream Mix (Cow) for 450 yen. I shared it with my companion using plastic spoons. First, the milk zone was strong in milk flavor and quite sweet. I was glad we didn't choose the single flavor (white) because it was just right. Next was the chocolate zone, less sweet and a bit bitter. A dark feeling. If we had chosen the single flavor (black), it might have left a slightly bitter impression. Eating them together was great. They complemented each other well! The waffle cone was to my liking. It's probably unavoidable in such facilities, but the employees seemed a bit worn out, which bothered me. I wanted to say "Thank you for your hard work!" The view from the men's restroom (small) was surprisingly nice and liberating (laughs).

Oh no, I forgot to take a photo, but this place offers a great view of the Tokachi Plain! It was my first time visiting and as you can see, it was raining outside. I went on a 2-night, 3-day trip to Tokachi Obihiro! After having pork bowl for lunch, I drove for about 1 hour and 30 minutes to Naitai Terrace by rental car. Naitai Terrace is said to be the largest public ranch in Japan, with a magnificent total area of 1,700 hectares. The view from the terrace is breathtaking! When you're at a ranch, you just have to have soft serve ice cream. So, I ordered... ▼Ushi (Mixed Soft Serve) @450 yen It's a mix of milk and chocolate. The milk is very rich and delicious! The chocolate is not too sweet and its bitter sweetness goes well with the milk. Soft serve ice cream at a ranch is definitely delicious. I stopped by for lunch. I bought a meal ticket from the vending machine and went to pick up my order when called. The vending machine was high-tech, but many people seemed unfamiliar with it, causing a long line to form. I ordered a hamburger and it was delicious, but I couldn't help but think that it was similar to Mos Burger. The atmosphere was great, so it might be worth stopping by as a tourist.

I visited the Naitai Terrace at Naitai Kogen Farm, which opened in April. I tried the rumored barbecue-flavored hamburger, while my companion had the Loco Moco bowl. We enjoyed our meal while overlooking the ranch from the spacious glass-walled seating area, feeling refreshed! For dessert, we had delicious soft serve ice cream with a mix of flavors on the outdoor terrace seating!

I finally went to the Naikai Kogen Terrace that I wanted to visit. The view was amazing because the weather was clear and the terrace was so wide! I was drawn to the fact that you can only eat here, so I decided to buy soft serve ice cream from the vending machine. I'm not used to using vending machines, so I was a bit flustered... Sorry for making the line behind me wait. But I managed to buy it and eat it. It's good that I was able to visit before the break from next month until April.

After descending from Sangokuso Pass, head towards Naitai Kogen. I came here 4.5 years ago and there was no terrace like this back then. Now, there is a terrace overlooking the highland, cows grazing, and a nice ice cream cart. Sitting on wooden benches, enjoying ice cream while gazing at the highland was a wonderful experience. The highland is well-maintained, not just for the cows grazing, but also for visitors to admire. The newly built terrace is fantastic! Inside the terrace, there is a counter facing the highland, creating a great atmosphere. I ordered a mix soft serve ice cream for 410 yen and Naitai blend for 460 yen. The black one is chocolate, with a perfect balance of bitterness and milkiness. It was delicious! I definitely want to come back here for this. They also offer takeout items like Naitai burger with tartar sauce for 980 yen, Naitai black for 600 yen, 100% Naitai Wagyu hamburger for 950 yen, Tokachi mashed cream soup for 510 yen, bags for 10 yen, and cooling set for 100 yen. The burgers were tasty, but wait! The 100% Naitai Wagyu hamburger! This is a must-try at the restaurant! It is cooked with a seared crust and steamed under a lid. Finally, I found the Tokachi beef I've been looking for! It was a truly satisfying experience at Naitai Kogen. A must-visit place for the best Naitai Kogen experience!

After leaving Taushubetsu Observatory, we arrived at Naitai Kogen Farm Naitai Terrace. It is said to be the largest farm in Japan, and the vast scenery was truly impressive. After being amazed by the farm, we went inside Naitai Terrace. We shared two flavors of soft serve ice cream - one made with fresh milk from Kamishihoro (it had a light texture and refreshing aftertaste) and one chocolate flavor (rich but not too heavy, very delicious!). After enjoying the soft serve, we went outside to take photos, then returned to Naitai Terrace to get a Naitai Blend to go. Feeling impressed by Naitai Kogen for the first time, we headed to our next destination, Kamishihoro Michi no Eki.

We left Kanpyo Onsen later than planned and headed to the nearby "Mainai Ranch". It is said to be the largest ranch in Japan. The road is enveloped in morning mist, creating a magical atmosphere. On a clear day, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Tokachi Plain, making it one of Japan's top 100 scenic roads. We drove along the gentle hills and reached the end of the road, where the "Naitai Kogen Ranch Naitai Terrace" is located. However, it was completely shrouded in mist. The terrace had a sleek concrete design and there was already a line forming before 10 am, indicating its popularity. I was drawn to the "Afford" ice cream, but ended up choosing the "Shiro (Shihoro Town Fresh Milk)" ice cream in a cone for 410 yen. They make each order fresh, and my ice cream arrived promptly. Although we couldn't enjoy the view outside due to the mist, the ice cream was delicious.

On the final day of my Hokkaido trip, I decided to visit Naitai Kogen Farm for the first time, simply because I had never been there before. The farm itself has been around since the 1980s when I first visited Hokkaido on a motorcycle tour, but the Naitai Terrace facility opened in 2019, making it a relatively new spot. The sky was overcast with thick fog, but I was lucky to catch glimpses of the surroundings as the fog started to clear. Despite the limited visibility due to the fog, I was able to leisurely watch Holstein cows grazing in the grassy field. I then visited Naitai Terrace, a new spot that opened in June 2019. I realized that I had yet to try soft serve ice cream during my Hokkaido trip, so I decided to indulge in one here. I ordered the "white" made with Upper Higashihoro Fresh Milk and the "black" chocolate flavor, combining them to create the "cow" soft serve. Although it would have been ideal to enjoy it outdoors on a clear day, savoring the soft serve while gazing at the grassy field from indoors on a hot summer or rainy day in Hokkaido also had its charm.

I wanted to spend some relaxing time in the highlands, so I headed to Naitai Plateau. As I got closer, I noticed cars coming back with their small lights on, and soon I found myself driving through thick fog. When I arrived at Naitai Terrace, everything was white due to the fog. It was so cold and the view was obscured, so we quickly went inside. I ordered the Naitai Burger with tartar sauce and Tokachi fried potatoes, while my husband had the Naitai Wagyu roast beef bowl. The food took a bit of time to prepare, so my husband went to the souvenir corner and surprisingly found beer there. The Naitai Burger was surprisingly light and not too heavy on the meat, with a nice tartar sauce that tied everything together. The Tokachi fried potatoes were moist and delicious. The Naitai Wagyu roast beef in the bowl was compact but filling, with tender and flavorful meat. On our way back, the fog cleared a bit and we even saw some cows. The cows were a nice way to end our meal.

Highlight of my trip to Obihiro was the Naitai Ranch. It's surprising to find a ranch in such a remote location in Japan, but a few years ago, they opened the "Naitai Terrace" to attract tourists. It's a place where you can feel the efforts of the revitalized town of Kamishihoro through the Furusato Sosei Project. As you drive 7 kilometers up from the ranch gate, you'll see cows grazing, creating a picturesque scene reminiscent of Heidi in the Alps. Inside the modern building is the Naitai Terrace, with a stylish and modern interior. The ticket machines are fully cashless, and you can buy a ticket to order soft serve ice cream. I tried the "Ushi" soft serve for 410 yen (mixed soft serve). Eating Ushi soft serve while watching the cows was a unique experience. It seems they use fresh milk from Kamishihoro that you can only taste here. It has a strong milk flavor but surprisingly light and delicious. The chocolate flavor was unexpectedly rich, making it a sophisticated soft serve. It made me smile when my mouth turned black, like after eating squid ink pasta. Eating soft serve in such a place is truly special, making you appreciate the scenery even more. If you have the chance to visit Obihiro, be sure to stop by.
