I entered the handmade confectionery shop after seeing the sign. Memories of "home gourmet" came back to me. The sweet smell tempted my buying urge. There were 18cm and 15cm apple pies, but they were already sold out. I thought about getting cheesecake or tart, but ended up buying 3 apple pies. The pie was crispy, and it felt like eating a whole apple. It also had cinnamon in it. It was delicious.

Located near Shijo Station in Myodenji-cho, this Western confectionery shop is loved by locals for its specialty "Apple Pie." The large "Apple Pie" is filled with plenty of stewed apples and has become a topic of conversation on Instagram. The shop opened in April 2004. It is about a 5-6 minute walk from Exit 2 of Shijo Station. Head east on Shijo Street, turn left at the Shijo-Nishitoin Intersection, along Nishitoin Street. It is on the first floor of a building next to the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijo, with a sign featuring a photo of the Apple Pie. I visited in the afternoon. The shop is not very large but has a neat space. On top of the showcase are whole and sliced "Apple Pies," and there are also "Apple Pies" inside the showcase. They focus on the "Apple Pie," so there was stock available even on weekend afternoons. The sizes and prices of the "Apple Pie" are as follows: - Whole (15cm ¥2,500, 18cm ¥4,300) - Square (¥1,450) - Sliced (¥540) I purchased the following: ● Apple Pie (Sliced) (¥540) Approximately 6.5cm in height. Under the lattice patterned pie with apricot jam, there are multiple layers of large stewed apples, equivalent to about one whole apple when sliced. To match the large amount of apples, the bottom and sides of the pie are slightly thick. Just looking at it made me excited. The pie is baked firmly, so it's best to use a fork and knife when eating. Now, let's dig in! The stewed apples are sweet and sour, crunchy, with a subtle cinnamon aroma. There was so much filling that it felt like I was eating stewed apples rather than an Apple Pie. It was delicious, but the sweetness became a bit overwhelming, so I had to slow down halfway through. On the other hand, the side crust was firm but had a crispy and fragrant texture. As mentioned above, I alternated between the apples and the pie crust, but the correct way to eat it is to "break the side crust, and savor it along with the stewed apples." If I had realized that earlier, I might not have gotten tired of it. I later realized that it might have been nice to have it with ice cream. (It is recommended to refrigerate and consume on the same day.) If I were 20 years younger, I would have been completely satisfied with this hearty "Apple Pie." Highly recommended for those who love Apple Pies packed with stewed apples.

Favritte is a popular patisserie located a 3-5 minute walk from Shijo Station, specializing in apple pies. The showcase is filled with thick and delicious-looking apple pies. They also offer whole pies for parties. I purchased a slice of their popular apple pie, which was incredibly thick and packed with about one whole apple's worth of filling. The apple compote inside had a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity, complemented by the crisp texture of the crust. If you're looking for a dessert with generous portions, this is the place to go. Definitely worth a visit! Thank you for the meal!

As my daughter's birthday approached, she requested an "apple pie" for her birthday cake. I did some research and ended up at favorite. When I saw it at the store, it seemed taller than a regular apple pie, and when I held the cake, it felt quite heavy. The owner recommended chilling it before cutting, and indeed, it was packed with filling, making it a bit difficult to cut. I wonder how many apples were used in this 15cm apple pie. The thick, sweet, and juicy apples were delicious. The pie crust was a bit firm and on the thinner side, which may be a matter of preference (my partner wished for more pie crust), but I personally enjoyed it as I love baked apples. The kids loved it too, and we had a great celebration.

A large apple pie with big chunks of apples. They sell it in whole or rectangular shapes, but the cut pieces are the best. Apple pie for ¥580. Thick compote with a rich flavor that permeates throughout. The bottom crust is also delicious with syrup soaked into it.

I happened to discover "Favorite" while browsing the internet at a hotel in Kyoto. Their apple pie is famous, and it's conveniently located very close to the hotel! Feeling like it was fate, I immediately went to buy one. When I arrived at the shop, it was already past 6 PM, but they still had apple pie available. I purchased one and decided to enjoy it after dinner at the hotel (¥540). Now, I'm back at the hotel and ready to dig in. As a lover of apple pie, this one was perfect for me! Just look at this cross-section! It's my first time seeing such a big apple-filled pie. The simplicity of only apples and pie crust without any strange cream or mushy fillings is refreshing! The taste is amazing with the sweet and sour apples. The pie crust has a nice thickness as well. I had a high-quality apple pie and I would definitely want to buy it again when I visit Kyoto. Maybe next time, I'll get a whole one? Thank you for the meal!

Located about a 6-minute walk from Shijo Station, my friend brought me a souvenir from this shop. They said the apple pie is famous, but unfortunately it was sold out. (Some were already eaten by my family before we could take a picture, so the photo is cropped.) The tarts cost 260 yen each and are packed with filling, making them quite substantial. They are not too rich, but have a nice sweetness, so they go well with tea. Personally, I preferred the almond tart. I would like to try the apple pie if I have the chance.

I love this restaurant so much that I want to eat there before I die! I tried it once and got hooked. The apple pie here is so delicious that I can't eat pies from other places anymore. It's filled with plenty of apples that are sweetly stewed but not heavy. The pastry surrounding it is firm and allows you to fully enjoy the rich flavor of the apples. I always buy the largest whole pie instead of just a slice. I love it so much that I want to take a big bite out of it!

This is a shop located on the right side a little walk from Shijo Horikawa to Shijo Karasuma in Kyoto. It's on the first floor of a hotel. The interior of the shop has a somewhat old-fashioned feel. The apple pie I bought here was definitely worth it - it's hard to come across a pie with such a satisfying appearance and taste. There are plenty of apples inside, giving a soft yet distinct apple flavor with a hint of sweetness and a lingering acidity. The pie crust is also firm and well-made. I feel like I will end up stopping by every time I visit Kyoto in the future.

I received a popular "Apple Pie" from a friend in Kyoto. It is from a popular Western confectionery store called "Favorite" located near Kyoto Karasuma. When I opened the box at home, I found a 18cm lattice whole apple pie inside. When I cut into it, I discovered layers upon layers of thick apple compote overflowing, creating a very impactful apple pie unlike any I had seen before. The apple pie from "Favorite" had apples packed almost 90%, with a balanced sweetness and acidity that made it very delicious. The pie crust was baked with fermented butter, giving it a fragrant and crispy texture, and hints of cinnamon could also be tasted. With each bite, the deliciousness of the apples along with a sense of happiness fills your mouth. For those who love apple pie, I highly recommend it as it can also be purchased for delivery. Thank you for the delicious meal.

A friend brought back an apple pie from Kyoto and gave me some because they couldn't finish it. Thank you so much! The apple pie was 15 centimeters tall, which was surprising! When I cut into it, I was even more surprised to see how packed with apples it was. As expected from the appearance, this pie is all about enjoying the apples. The large apple slices allow you to really taste the apples themselves. The texture was also enjoyable! Even with so many apples, I was happy to find that the cinnamon flavor was still present. I'm someone who likes cinnamon in their apple pie. This apple pie was top-notch, with both impressive appearance and delicious taste that did not disappoint. I am grateful for being able to eat it and thankful to my friend! Thank you very much!

Sunday 12:00 at the pastry shop Favorite Apple Pie 520 yen x 3 The price has gone up by about 20 yen since last time, but this is my favorite apple pie. I was told to put it in the refrigerator because it's hot, and I ate it after cooling it. I really love apple pie, and the volume and filling here are top-notch. The large apple slices and the perfect compote texture give it a rich flavor with a crisp bite. (It's so delicious) Me: "If I'm on my deathbed in the hospital and say 'Apple pie...' please bring me this one." Child: "You said the same thing when we had the Tarte Tatin near the Budokan." Me: "I think I did... 'Tarte Tatin...' was for that one." Child: "Oh..." I may be thinking about food until I die, but I'm definitely weak for apple desserts. I will definitely come back again. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I visited a Western confectionery shop located down the street from Shijo Nishiiru. The shop is called "favorite" and is popular for its apple pie. Although I have passed by this street many times, I never noticed this shop before. This was my first visit. In the showcase, there were apple pies, tarts, and brulees lined up. The colorful tarts looked delicious. Along with the apple pie, I also bought a tart and headed home. The apple pie had layers of apples stacked high, with a beautiful lattice pattern on the surface of the pie crust. The crispy texture of the apples was enjoyable, and they were just the right amount of sweetness. The pie crust was crunchy and added to the enjoyable texture. The tart with raspberries had three raspberries on top. I imagined the tart to be firm, but the inside was soft and delicious. I could enjoy the texture of the raspberry seeds. The shop gives off a casual vibe with affordable prices, making it easy to enjoy their pastries. I would like to stop by again next time I pass by the shop.

Located on the first floor of a modest building on the west side of Ayanokoji Street, down from Shijo Street to Nishinoto-in Street in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City. The exterior has a simple yet harmonious appearance that blends in with the surroundings, while the interior exudes a cozy and homely atmosphere. The showcase displays cakes, wagashi (Japanese confectionery), and a variety of baked goods, offering a wide selection. The standout specialty is the apple pie, available in whole, square, or sliced options. The apple pie, though simple, is striking with its generous layers of apples stacked high. The apples are cut into large pieces, allowing the natural sweetness to shine through, balanced by a gentle tartness. The pie has a substantial, apple-forward flavor and a soft, crisp texture. The crust is made with fermented butter, baked to perfection with a hint of cinnamon. The pie is finished with a glossy glaze, offering a hearty yet light taste. The apple pie is a popular choice, with each one meticulously crafted, reflecting the skill and dedication of the owner-patissier, who hails from Kyoto Hotel Okura. This establishment has become a beloved part of the community over the years.

I used to live nearby and would eat here often, but I recently bought it again after a long time. The apple filling is still as generous as ever. I feel like the apple flavor has gotten stronger compared to before, but it's delicious. The crust has become a bit harder, making it a solid one that is difficult to cut with a fork.

This is a time-shifted post. A famous apple pie from Kyoto. It is a whole pie, and the weight of it is surprising. When you see it, you notice its height! When you cut into it, you are overwhelmed by the overflowing amount of apples. The pie crust is relatively light, and the sweetness of the apples is moderate, so it's not too heavy. It looks like a great gift. After eating this, you might not want apples for a while (laughs).

After work, I felt like having some sweets, especially apple pie. I had been wanting to try the apple pie at Favritte, so I headed straight there from work. When I arrived, I saw that there was only one apple pie left. I wanted to buy one for my daughter too, but since there was only one left, I ended up getting a different pastry for her. I bought the apple pie for 520 yen, a chestnut tart for 260 yen, and a half-baked cheese tart for 190 yen. When I got home, my daughter was already out working, so I brewed some Earl Grey tea and enjoyed the pastry by myself. The apple pie was filled with chunky apples and was delicious. The tart crust was not too dense, but had a nice texture. It was not overpowering with cinnamon or liquor like typical apple pies, but focused on the quality of the ingredients. I love this kind of approach. It was satisfyingly filling too. I'll have to go earlier next time. It was a delightful meal.

This is my first visit. Favorite confectionery shop ☆ 3.51 The apple pie looks very delicious, but I will leave that for another time. Instead, I tried a small cheesecake and pudding. The pudding was very delicious. It has a nostalgic and simple taste, but it is very smooth and well-balanced. It's different from the usual smooth pudding, and I can't quite express it, but it's definitely worth trying. The fluffy cheesecake was also delicious, of course. Thank you for the meal. I would like to visit again.

Favourite Confectionery Shop is located near Shijo Subway Station. The apple pie is popular at this Western confectionery shop, and I had been wanting to visit for a while. Unfortunately, the apple pie I was looking for was sold out. I purchased a cheese tart for 450 yen instead. It had a glossy and beautiful appearance. The rich and creamy cheese filling was moist and flavorful, very delicious. The moderately sweet tart crust had a firm texture that paired well with the filling. Among all the cheesecakes I have tried, this one ranks high. I will make sure to go earlier next time to get the apple pie.
