I sometimes visit the au shop at "Yume Town Hakata," located right on the border between Higashi Ward and Hakata Ward along National Route 3. This time, when I arrived around noon, there was a 30-minute wait, so I decided to have lunch at the food court inside Yume Town while waiting. I passed on Omu Rice-Tei Yume Town Hakata, and Kentucky Fried Chicken Yume Town Hakata was closed for renovations. I haven't tried Tonkatsu Hamakatsu Yume Town Hakata or Yakiniku Nabeshima Yume Town Hakata, but they didn't seem to offer good value for lunch. So, I checked out both this restaurant and the neighboring Osaka Ohsho Hakata Yume Town branch. Since there were more people waiting in front of Osaka Ohsho, I decided to go there. I sat on a chair outside the restaurant and was called in shortly after. The interior had table seating and raised tatami seating on the right side, creating a calm atmosphere with partition screens. The menu was similar to Ootoya, with the main difference being the lack of fish dishes and more rice bowl options. Plus, you could add a drink bar for an extra 160 yen, a service not available at Ootoya. I ordered the "Young Chicken with Black Vinegar Stir-Fry Set" for 907 yen (tax included). You could choose between white rice or mixed grain rice, with the same price for regular or large portions. I opted for the large portion of mixed grain rice. The food arrived in just a few minutes, quite fast. The tray included the main dish of young chicken with black vinegar stir-fry, mixed grain rice, seaweed and mushroom miso soup, three types of pickles, and a side dish of simmered hijiki, mung beans, carrots, burdock root, and green beans. The black vinegar stir-fry was like a chicken version of sweet and sour pork, with vegetables like lotus root, onion, bell pepper, carrot, and eggplant. The taste was decent, but the chicken pieces were small, and the overall portion seemed a bit lacking compared to similar dishes at Ootoya. On the other hand, the miso soup was served in a bowl that seemed to be double the usual size. The side dishes and miso soup made a bigger impact than the main dish. In terms of value for money, Ootoya might be slightly better. When I went to the register after finishing my meal, I noticed a small advertising board with the trademarks of various Shoya Group restaurants. "Momona" turned out to be a Shoya Group restaurant. Come to think of it, there was also a "Momona" near JR Yoshizuka Station.
