I came to Sakaisuji Hommachi for a business meeting, which ended at 4:00 PM, a rather awkward time. So, the only option was to go for a drink! There's a bar in Sakaisuji Hommachi that I wanted to visit, called "Stand Shimau Ma," which opens at 4:00 PM. I had scheduled the meeting to end at 4:00 PM on purpose (lol). The team I was with decided to join me for drinks after work.
Location:
Located about 3 minutes east of Honmachi Street from My Dome Osaka, the bar is on the 2nd floor of a brick building across from the Osaka City Central Fire Station. It used to be the location of a popular curry restaurant called "Hoseki." The bar mainly offers standing room, but there are also tables with chairs for 4 people and 2 people each.
Food:
We ordered a variety of dishes, including a platter of different items chosen by the owner. It included curry-flavored potato salad, carrot rapé, pork rillette, quail egg spiced with soy sauce, Iberico salami, whitebait broccoli, garlic butter soy sautéed squid, horse meat yukhoe. All the dishes were delicious and went well with the drinks.
Overall, the food was delicious, and it made the drinks go down smoothly. I ended up having 4 drinks without realizing it. The atmosphere was great, and we had a fun time chatting with the owner. I would definitely come back here for drinks when I have meetings in Sakaisuji Hommachi.

Welcome. ---------- September 2022 ----------Located in the area of Tanimachi and Honmachi (unknown territory, took a taxi from Namba and got off at the fire station, then it's on the 2nd floor across the street ~ |o| °д°)ノ| Yagacha, one reason to drink in Osaka is when your drinking buddies own a bar, and after coming three times, the dream finally came true. The counter is for standing, but due to the number of people, we opted for a table for four. The regulars at the counter greet each other with a casual "Hey, how's it going?" kind of vibe, which creates a nice atmosphere. The wallpaper has a unique pattern, and the variety of drinks is overwhelming, but I stuck with my favorite "Sudachi Sour" from Kinmiya and had multiple refills. The first round was the "Choko Mori," which was more like a huge serving, right? It included quail eggs marinated in soy sauce, spicy sand liver confit, Sichuan pepper renkon (lotus root) kimpura, purple cabbage coleslaw, white wine stewed yagen nankotsu (chicken cartilage), and a potato salad with Iburi Gakko. I think I had at least three servings with just these dishes. Suddenly, I felt like having a "hot sandwich." The fluffy bread with melty cheese and fluffy scrambled eggs, topped with slightly tangy ketchup, was an amazing combination. And all this for just 500 yen, which is a steal considering they use four eggs in the sandwich. The master must really enjoy preparing a variety of dishes, and the affordable prices make it even more appealing.

Drum can on the second floor, this shop is hard to find from the first floor as there is no signboard... However, the food is delicious and diverse, so there are regular customers. I would definitely become a regular if I lived nearby. The assorted plate with four items for 600 yen is amazing. The dishes like kinpira with Sichuan pepper, simmered egg with star anise show creativity and skill. The sake lees soup is also delicious! It was a casual drinking place, but I want to go back next time for a meal. As the shop's reputation grows, it will likely become a popular spot.

Located near Yatamachi 4-chome, across the street from the fire station, on the second floor of a building is a standing bar. I was invited to stop by for a drink after a meeting nearby, so we headed to this place just a stone's throw away. This used to be a curry restaurant, right? The name of the place is Shimau-ma, with the walls inside decorated in a Shimau-ma pattern! The shop is very small, managed by a friendly master. I was surprised to see a steam convection oven in such a tiny shop! We toasted with a highball for 400 yen and decided to order some light dishes.
- Roast beef with red wine sauce for 600 yen: The meat was sliced freshly and was tender, served with a slightly mature red wine sauce that paired well with the alcohol.
- Cucumber pickled in rice bran with ham for 500 yen: A bit salty, making it a perfect match for beer. It was rolled up after ordering.
- Today's pizza for 700 yen: I usually only eat oven-baked pizza, but I tried a slice of the one my companion ordered and ended up enjoying it more than I expected.
- Truffle salt fried potatoes for 400 yen: I love potatoes, so I couldn't pass this up. The truffle salt added a luxurious taste to the dish.
The master had a naturally friendly demeanor and was easy to talk to. He also engaged in conversation, making the drinking experience enjoyable. With a master like him, even coming alone would be quite pleasant. I would recommend this place to those who want to drink alone. It was a great restaurant experience! Thank you for the meal!
