I want to have ramen soup. I prefer a delicious restaurant, preferably with tonkotsu shoyu broth. On this day, before heading to my partner's parents' house, we decided to have a meal. Of course, I want to eat ramen. My partner wants a large serving of fried rice. As a result, we decided to go to this restaurant! We sat on a bench in front of the restaurant before it opened, looking at the menu posted behind us. Ramen, mixed noodles, negi ramen, chuka soba, hiyashi chuka, hiyashi tantanmen, quite a variety. It was a humid day, so I was also drawn to the cold noodles. But today, it's the aged tonkotsu ramen. Limited to 20 servings. I also want to have fried rice. Checking the reviews, the fried rice is sweet and rich. With lots of chashu. Looks heavy. A small serving is enough for me. We sat at the counter as the restaurant opened. We placed our orders one by one. I ordered the aged tonkotsu ramen and fried rice set in a small size. My partner also tried to order the aged tonkotsu ramen and fried rice set in a large size, but... a stronger objection came in. Have you eaten a large size before? Have you eaten a medium size before? Quantity was confirmed, and the order was finally accepted. The fried rice looks heavy indeed... I started to worry a bit. Then, my partner's voice came from the side. Also, a special large size of mixed noodles! Even though he's not usually a fan of strong flavors, a large size? I was a bit surprised, but he seemed determined to eat it. Well, okay. While we were waiting, the ramen arrived. The chashu looks thick. Looks delicious. Let's dig in! It's a solid tonkotsu shoyu broth, but the soup is surprisingly light. It has a strong umami flavor but not too salty, so you can drink the soup without hesitation. Delicious! The noodles are medium thickness, with a firm texture. They're not too thick to slurp, providing a satisfying bite. The chashu is well-seasoned, and you can taste the meatiness. As you chew, the fibers unravel in your mouth. I want to have this as a snack later. I asked for an extra serving of chashu to take home later. The aged tonkotsu ramen is quite voluminous for the size of the bowl. Overall, I really like the taste. While enjoying the ramen, we could see the fried rice being prepared at the counter. Eggs and a large amount of rice were in the Chinese pan. They were pressed and loosened with a ladle, then stir-fried well. After that, a decent amount of chunky chashu was added and finished. Then I saw it. The portion was piled high in the ladle. The fried rice, small, was just right! I felt relieved and faced my fried rice. The slightly dark fried rice was topped with plenty of pickled ginger and smelled good. The portion was just right for me. I felt relieved for a moment, but then my partner's large fried rice arrived. What?! The portion seemed... the largest ever? It looked that way. Still, the mixed noodles are coming... What should we do? I thought, while enjoying my fried rice. The flavor is slightly strong. Maybe it's the chashu's sauce? The rice is moist and dense, with a strong sweetness, but not too salty, so it goes down well. It's really good! But still a bit heavy. I finished the noodles first and alternated between the soup and fried rice, which made it easier to eat and equally delicious. But! As I dug into the fried rice, I discovered more and more chunks of chashu... The fibers unraveled in my mouth, and as they increased, I couldn't eat the rice for a while. Sip of water, soup, chew, chew, sip... gulp. Finally, the next bite. Phew. It's delicious, but... I thought, and then the devil arrived. My partner's special large mixed noodles. The bowl was quite large. The special size was... the portion was really huge! My partner was speechless too. You ordered it, so please enjoy it. As my partner mixed the noodles, the aroma of the chashu's sauce wafted over, and it smelled really delicious.
