Dinner time at Yagi Gyoza Kyujo Honten, located on the street one block south of the Nijo Shopping Street Nine Mall. The cozy restaurant has a counter with 5 seats. For the second round of drinks, we had a highball and calpis shochu highball. The dishes we enjoyed included: - Today's assorted sashimi (1380 yen for one person) with a half-size option available for 700 yen, making it easy to order. - Chicken tsukune available to order by the piece, with a choice of sauce or salt. The flavorful tsukune with a generous portion is delicious with the sweet and savory sauce. - Grilled gizzard with ponzu sauce, offering a crispy texture and a different experience from boiled gizzard. - Kishu duck dumplings recommended to be enjoyed first as they are, then with a combination of pepper and vinegar provided at the counter. The well-cooked dumplings have a crispy skin, juicy and aromatic meat filling, and are delicious. - Chicken ham tartare with raw egg yolk mixed in, providing a fragrant aroma and a rich flavor that spreads in the mouth. The topping of nori seaweed adds a nice touch. All the dishes exceeded expectations in terms of deliciousness, making us reach for more red wine. Although there were other tempting menu items, we decided to finish the night with these dishes after having yakiniku at the first place. The restaurant has a TV, creating a homely atmosphere where even solo diners won't feel lonely. While smoking is allowed, which is a downside for me personally, the service is polite and the food is delicious, making it a definite revisit for me. Thank you for the feast!

I discovered a dumpling restaurant along the street next to the Kujo Shopping Street! I visited Yagi Gyoza for the first time and I'm the first one to review it on Tabelog (lol). This restaurant seems to have originated from a major meat shop, so their ingredients are sourced from there. It's not just a regular dumpling izakaya, but a place that focuses on providing dumplings with a special taste for meals. They have two types of dumplings here, the Yagi Gyoza with duck and the Kuro Yagi Gyoza with pork. I tried the duck dumplings and they were amazing. The dumplings were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, seasoned with white pepper. They go really well with white wine. And the tomato and rakkyo pickles were outstanding. The grilled chicken and iburigakko were also delicious, I left the place feeling very satisfied. They also seem to be particular about their rice, so I definitely want to go back to try their tamago kake gohan next time. Thank you for the meal.
