I visited the restaurant for the first time to have breakfast at Shin-Osaka Station. I ordered the Morning Zaru Soba Set with Katsuobushi and Egg Rice for 590 yen. The portion was quite generous in both appearance and content. It was my first time trying Himi Udon, which was thin and had a nice firm texture, making it delicious. The Katsuobushi rice was a perfect companion to the udon. This is the kind of place I would like to visit on a leisurely morning off rather than a busy morning.

In Osaka, there is a rare dish called Himi Udon at the Ekimaru Kitchen food court in Shin-Osaka Station. There was no wait on weekdays, but it was crowded with tourists, including foreigners. I ordered the Chikudama Tempura Bukkake with extra noodles for 940 yen plus 150 yen. It was served quickly. The noodles were smooth and delicious, typical of Himi Udon. It was tasty. It's a shame that the broth wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped. Thank you for the meal.

Located next to the 551 stand outside the ticket gates of Shin-Osaka Station, Himi Udon Men Tsururi is known for its famous udon noodles from Toyama. I ordered the bukkake udon with thin noodles that were smooth and had a good chewy texture. The tempura bamboo shoot topping had a crispy coating.

I was always curious about a restaurant where you can enjoy the local specialty dish of Toyama, "Himi Udon". The menu includes various types of udon such as plain udon and kitsune udon, as well as side dishes like mixed rice, chicken soboro, beef burdock rice, and shredded shiso. On this day, I ordered the "Chiku Tamaten Udon" with a side of beef burdock rice. The beef burdock rice was a sweet and savory mini bowl of meat and chopped burdock cooked together. It also came with pickles and kimpira, adding to the value of the meal. The udon was simple with chikuwa tempura, half-boiled egg tempura, and chopped green onions in a large bowl. It was my first time trying Himi Udon, and I found it to be a perfect balance between udon and hiyamugi noodles, with a slightly thick and flat shape that provided a unique texture. The broth was flavorful, allowing me to fully enjoy the smooth Himi Udon.

On a typical day at 10:30 in the morning, I visited the Mendori Udon Men Tsururi located inside the newly opened mall on the 3rd floor of Shin-Osaka Station. This mall only has this udon shop, making it stand out. Osaka is known for its strong udon culture, and the fine, chewy noodles from Himi are particularly popular nationwide. Himi Udon is also the number one brand in Toyama. I wonder if this shop is managed by Kaizu-ya, the famous udon brand. I'll have to ask Kaizu-ya next time. Today's order was the morning set with kake udon and mini soboro rice for 690 yen. After paying, I waited for about 10 minutes. It seemed like many people had already paid and were waiting. The kake udon looked very appetizing to my hungover body. The broth was soothing and went well with the smooth Himi udon noodles. The soboro rice looked a bit small, but it tasted delicious with a generous amount of pickled ginger on top. It was a satisfying meal.

Located in the station marche outside the JR Higashi exit of Shin-Osaka Station, there is a food court where several food and beverage establishments are lined up. One of the shops in this area is called "Men Tsururi," where you can enjoy Himi Udon. The shop is situated near the JR Higashi exit of Shin-Osaka Station, within the station's food court. The interior is set up in a style where you pay first at the adjacent sushi and meat shops, and then pick up your order when the bell rings. Himi Udon is a specialty of Toyama, known for its flat, thin noodles with a firm texture and a smooth finish. On a particularly hot day, I ordered the cold soy milk tantan udon for a refreshing meal. The cold soy milk tantan udon had a good balance of firmness and elasticity in the thin noodles, with a strong noodle flavor. The mild soy milk combined with a moderate spiciness of tantan dashi was slightly light but delicious. Shin-Osaka Station is a large station where even bullet trains stop, so there are plenty of dining options and souvenir shops both inside and outside the station, making it convenient for travelers.

In Osaka, for lunch, there is a restaurant located in the food court in front of the JR ticket gate. They serve thin udon noodles, similar to hiyamugi. Thank you for the meal.

In the food court located in front of the ticket gates at Shin-Osaka Station. Visited around 9:15 am on a weekday. The customers inside were still sparse. I ordered the meat and burdock udon for 970 yen because I was feeling cold from the hotel's air conditioning. About 2 minutes after ordering, the bell rang. The soup was a bit light on flavor. The meat was seasoned with ginger and not too sweet. As the name suggests, the noodles were smooth and delicious.

On June 10, 2023, I was feeling a bit hungry so I had some udon noodles. The noodles were thin, smooth, and had a nice texture, very delicious. I later found out that it was called "Imizu Udon". The tempura was a bit small in size. I ordered and paid at the register, but the staff seemed to be a beginner and needed help with the cash register. It didn't go smoothly, and I could feel the tension. I wanted to tell them not to rush, but I didn't have the courage to do so...

Half Tempura Udon with Sauce: Thin ice-udon noodles topped with a tempura that is almost too big to be called half. Garnished with bonito flakes, green onions, and ginger. Sprinkled with sesame seeds and shichimi togarashi for extra flavor. The tempura ingredients, onions and carrots, are thinly sliced, providing a crispy texture beyond just crunchy.

Inside Shin-Osaka Station, there is a restaurant called Men Tsururi. It was my first visit! I love the Himi Udon here - it's not easy to find in Osaka! I love the chewy noodles! I tried both the cold and hot versions, but I recommend the cold Himi Udon! The Kakeage Tempura Zaru Udon was also delicious! I will definitely be coming back here for future business trips. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I visited for a slightly late breakfast. I ordered the meat udon topped with limited-time matsutake mushroom tempura. The noodles were thin with a strong texture. The sauce and meat were simply seasoned, with an overall gentle flavor. Compared to other delicious udon restaurants in Osaka, it may not stand out, but it is recommended for when you just want to eat udon a little.

On this day, after finishing my errands in Shin-Osaka in the morning, I suddenly remembered that I hadn't eaten breakfast and felt hungry (lol). So, I went to JR Tokaido Main Line "Shin-Osaka Station" to find a place where I could have a meal in the morning, and ended up at "Himi Udon Men Tsururi Ekimaru Shinsaibashi" located outside the East ticket gate of JR Tokaido Main Line "Shin-Osaka Station". The blog article with photos and detailed information can be found here: http://tushio.jp/blog-entry-5788.html This Himi Udon restaurant is open from 7:00 am to 11:00 am, and I ordered the "Breakfast Udon Set" which includes "Kake Udon" and "Okaka Tamago Gohan" for 590 yen. The Kake Udon was hot and delicious with a smooth texture and strong elasticity, made with hand-stretched Himi Udon noodles from Toyama Prefecture. The Okaka Tamago Gohan, which is rice topped with bonito flakes, chopped green onions, and a raw egg, was also very tasty. The flavors of the Aji (horse mackerel) dashi broth were excellent, and it was similar to the Inaniwa Udon from Akita. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal! "Himi Udon Men Tsururi Ekimaru Shinsaibashi" Address: JR Shin-Osaka Station 3F East Exit, 5-16-1 Nishinakajima, Yodogawa-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Phone: 06-6476-7208 Business Hours: 7:00 am - 10:00 pm Closed on: No regular holidays Completely non-smoking Parking: Not available Access: Inside JR Shin-Osaka Station (outside the East ticket gate) on the JR Tokaido Main Line.

This is a udon restaurant located right outside the ticket gates at Shin-Osaka Station. They serve thin and chewy udon noodles, but the broth in the bukkake udon was a bit weak. The menu includes items like kitsune udon starting at 700 yen, and bukkake udon with 2 shrimp tempura for 1080 yen. The set meals, which come with dishes like mixed rice or chicken soboro rice, cost around 1000 yen. The prices may seem a bit high, especially since only the set prices are displayed on the front sign. The chiku tempura bukkake udon for 810 yen had good texture with thin flat noodles, but the broth was thin like diluted somen sauce. It also had chiku tempura, half-cooked egg tempura, bonito flakes, grated radish, and green onions. Overall, it's a good option if you're craving udon near the JR conventional lines, but if you want to eat quickly, you might consider other options like Naniwa soba or Menya on the concourse inside the ticket gates.

Suddenly, both the up and down lines of the Shinkansen stopped. I decided to have an early dinner and found a seat at the food court. I chose the "Imizu Udon - smooth noodles" which seemed easy to eat. The thin noodles were soft, with a light soy sauce flavor and delicious broth. The fried tofu was large too. Looking around, I saw everyone with bags from 551, Rikuro Ojisan, and other Osaka specialties, which was heartwarming. After finishing the udon, I smoothly passed through the crowded Shinkansen ticket gate and saw that the Kodama was about to depart! I hurried onto the Kodama with plenty of space in the unreserved seats, and though it took a little longer, I relaxed on the soft, spacious seat on my way home. It was a nice break. I recommend the food court where you can eat even during the short time before boarding the Shinkansen. Thank you for the meal!

I found a restaurant a while ago that I wanted to eat at, but I couldn't come to eat because the timing didn't match when I was hungry. The curry udon looked delicious, but I'm not good at eating spicy food, so I chose pork miso udon instead. The Nameraka Udon noodles had a chewy texture. There seemed to be quite a small amount of pork, but the miso soup was packed with ingredients like yam, potatoes, daikon radish, and konjac, so even just the miso soup was satisfying. The atmosphere of the food court was hectic, and it felt like eating standing up soba or udon.

【Not morning, but having a morning set with udon!】↑ It's not a weird meaning, so don't get it wrong. So, a situation arose where I absolutely couldn't miss visiting Tokyo and Osaka consecutively (or maybe I created the situation: lol). On the first day, I enjoyed French cuisine in Shinagawa, and on the second day, I had sushi at the outskirts of Osaka. Then, I made a stop at each office to give a pep talk before heading from Shin-Osaka to Nagoya (Was there something I absolutely couldn't miss in Nagoya too?). Before boarding the Shinkansen, I bought some 551 pork buns for a safe journey and then headed to this place, which is an ice-cold udon shop in Imizu. It seems similar to Inaniwa udon, with a firm texture dry noodle, possibly better than some commercial udon. I ordered the morning set with bukkake udon, and the set included a half-cooked egg tempura rice bowl. Even though the standalone half-cooked egg tempura bukkake udon was 710 yen, the set with the bowl was cheaper at 600 yen, so I chose that: lol Of course, I'll leave most of the rice in the bowl (sorry). The thin noodles were similar to Inaniwa udon, with a smooth and slippery texture. The half-cooked egg provided a good protein boost! By the time I finished eating, it was 11 am when the morning set ended, and I felt like I got a great deal starting from 900 yen for lunch set (^^)/ Location: Shin-Osaka Station, go out of the east exit of the conventional line and it's right there.

Everything was too unsatisfactory. During this Golden Week without any restrictions on going out for the first time in three years, the second half of the consecutive holidays for Children's Day, tourist destinations were overflowing with people. Watching the news, you see such images everywhere. It's somewhat comforting, isn't it~ Naturally, the crowds at the entrance to Osaka, Shin-Osaka Station, were incredible. The same as before corona \(//∇//)\ People passing through this station, but my purpose was different. Lunch at Ekimaru Kitchen. Do not call it an indecent thought, after the renovation, I had only passed by. The eat-in space was crowded as expected. In the stores, 551 (Horai) was the most popular, with a huge line. People buying souvenirs from Osaka, and more people... I aimed for the udon shop that I had been eyeing for a while. Conveniently, a table right in front of the store was available. Chiku Tamaten Bukkake Udon: 830 yen. I ordered this and was given a calling device. The udon served in a very splendid ceramic bowl looked luxurious at first glance. However, I soon realized it was a misunderstanding. The distinctive toppings were roughly shaved bonito flakes, green onions, grated daikon radish and ginger, and two tempura as per the menu. The udon, characteristic of Himi udon, looked like linguine with thin flat noodles. The broth was extremely minimal, and the taste was very light. Th-this is almost like somen, isn't it ∑(゚Д゚) Clearly different from the Himi udon I had eaten before. True to the name of the shop, the noodles were completely lacking in firmness, very soft and squishy. Well, it's easy to eat this way, but I prefer noodles with a bit more bite. Is the overwhelmingly small volume of noodles also a feature? In terms of udon standards, it's like a "half portion." Hmm, tough. The tempura of bamboo ring, freshly fried, was also disappointing. It lacked the taste and deliciousness typical of bamboo ring. Let's use a more delicious bamboo ring❣️ I wanted to pour soy sauce over it. The taste, volume, price, everything left me feeling unsatisfied. It seems that Himi udon is not for me. Thank you for the meal.

Saying goodbye to the binge eating and drinking in Osaka is sad but inevitable. I checked out at 10 o'clock and headed to Shin-Osaka. I have something to do in Tokyo at 3:30 PM, so I barely caught the 11:30 AM bullet train. I have a little over an hour until departure, so I decided to quickly grab a bite to eat and relax at the new food court. Wow! There are various shops lined up here. I couldn't decide what to eat. Should I go for the Himi Udon set? Or maybe the fried chicken curry with coffee set? Oh well, I'll just get both!! I ordered both dishes. The Himi Udon has a great texture that goes down smoothly. After all the heavy drinking, it's gentle on the stomach and tastes amazing! This will be perfect before boarding the bullet train. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Today, I had a rare Tokyo business trip. Before boarding the Shinkansen bound for Tokyo around 7:30 in the morning... I thought I should grab some breakfast before getting on the Shinkansen. Oh, there was a place where I could have Himi Udon. So, I visited a restaurant called "Men Tsururi". The restaurant is located in a food court-like place called Ekimark Kitchen. Since it was 7:30 in the morning on a weekday, there were only about 3 groups of 6 people in the food court. So, I placed my order right away. I chose the breakfast udon set available from 7:00 to 11:00. You can choose between hot kake udon or cold bukkake udon, with the price ranging from 500 to 700 yen depending on the type of rice you choose. I chose hot kake udon with bonito flakes rice, which cost 500 yen. A very affordable price. When it was ready, I received a buzzer, took my seat, and waited for about 2 minutes... The service was really fast! So, starting with the kake udon... It was a simple kake udon with only green onions as toppings. The broth had a nice saltiness with a strong flavor of bonito flakes. Quite delicious. The udon noodles were slightly thin with a smooth texture that was easy to eat. Perfect for breakfast. It also tasted good with some shichimi spice added for extra flavor. As for the bonito flakes rice... It was topped with plenty of swaying bonito flakes. The smoky aroma of the bonito flakes was delicious. Sometimes, simple bonito flakes rice is nice too. Lastly, I mixed the bonito flakes rice into the udon broth. A hearty ochazuke with a strong bonito flavor. I finished every last bite. When it comes to breakfast at Shin-Osaka Station, Naniwa Soba is a classic choice, but Himi Udon is not bad either. Thank you for the meal. Now, off to Tokyo for my business trip.
