Today's lunchtime has arrived again. The restaurant I plan to visit today is located inside the premises of Red Cabbage in Hakata Station South. When I arrived at the restaurant, about 10 minutes from my office, I saw the daily menu written on a whiteboard outside. The daily set meal is "Hiroshima Oyster Fry and Fried Chicken" with 2 side dishes for 880 yen. The price seems a bit high, probably because it includes oysters. Since I don't particularly want oysters, I decided to pass on this. There are also various rice bowl dishes available, including Champon noodles. There are several types of Champon noodles available:
- Champon
- Spicy Miso Champon
- Seafood Champon
- Galaxy Champon??? I'm not sure what that means...
I was tempted by the Pork Cutlet Rice Bowl, but ended up choosing the "Seafood Champon (720 yen)." The waitress asked me if it was okay that the noodles would take some time, to which I agreed, and the order was placed. Looking around, I noticed many people enjoying the "Hakata Yakichanpon," which is served on a hot plate with an egg in the middle. It seems quite popular during lunchtime, as the restaurant is bustling with customers. The waitress seemed overwhelmed, exclaiming, "I'm at my limit..." There are shelves lined with bottles of shochu, indicating that this place transforms into a drinking spot at night. The lunch crowd here seems to consist mostly of workers in work clothes or jackets, rather than office workers from Hakata Station. After about 20 minutes, my "Seafood Champon" arrived as expected. Now, it's time to dig in. The dish is visibly lacking in vegetables, with less cabbage and plenty of broth. The ingredients include cabbage, bean sprouts, onions, carrots, fish cake, wood ear mushrooms, shrimp, squid, and clams. Surprisingly, there were 6-7 shrimp alone in the dish. The squid amounted to about 4 pieces. The soup is neither too rich nor too light, just average. The noodles are also average. Perhaps I should have chosen the "Hakata Yakichanpon" after all, but if the noodles are the same as in the Champon, I might have passed on it. Nevertheless, my stomach is now full. Of course, I couldn't finish all the soup. Thank you for the meal~.
