I tried the Gokumi Warabi Mochi. First, I had a bite as it is, and the gentle sweetness and sensuous texture that sticks to the mouth were amazing. Next, I tried it with black honey and kinako. It was also delicious. The sweetness of the black honey absorbed by the kinako mixes with the warabi mochi to create a luxurious umami flavor. This is a very well-made dessert. The interior of the store is also stylish and artistic, with a cozy atmosphere. The two staff members were cute and had characters that suited the store perfectly.

Founded in 1918, Sasaya Masahiroen is a Kyoto confectionery known for their delicious matcha desserts. Their cafe, Sasaya Masahiroen CAFE & ATELIER, located near Ryoanji Temple, recently reopened on July 12th. I had the pleasure of trying their delightful matcha parfait and freshly made warabi mochi. The Garden Parfait Set for 1280 yen includes a matcha panna cotta and smooth warabi mochi, both incredibly delicious. The matcha ice cream with crispy rice crackers provides a unique texture, and the toppings of Tamba black beans and chestnuts in syrup are inspired by Ryoanji Temple's stone garden. The Ultimate Warabi Mochi Set for 1380 yen, limited to 10 servings per day, features carefully crafted warabi mochi that is soft and gooey, placed on top of shaved ice for a luxurious treat. The Uji Matcha Warabi Mochi Set for 1580 yen consists of shaved ice at the bottom, topped with chewy warabi mochi, fragrant matcha powder, black honey, and sweet red bean paste. The refined sweetness of this dessert is truly delightful.

A few years ago, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the beloved stores like Kodai-ji Rakusho, Takarizumi near Shimogamo Shrine, and Sasaya Shokudo closed down. Among them, I consider Sasaya Shokudo as one of Kyoto's top three warabi mochi shops. Especially, the supreme taste that can only be experienced at the main store is exquisite. However, when I checked at Isetan to buy the "Goku" version, the name of Sasaya Shokudo was not there. So, I called the main store and found out that currently, they only operate the main store and participate in events. Luckily, I had some free time on a Saturday, so I made a reservation for the supreme warabi mochi on Saturday evening. Saturdays are perfect for art and culinary exploration in Kyoto. Of course, the main event was the supreme warabi mochi here. I intended to arrive earlier but got distracted and ended up arriving just before closing time. We enjoyed it as a dessert for dinner with my family. It was so delicious with its jelly-like and soft texture made from 100% real warabi powder. It's truly wonderful. Although Ryuanji Temple was far, it was worth the visit. I hope the cafe will reopen soon, and we can enjoy eating at the shop again.

This morning, the popular Angel Warabi Mochi was featured on today's show. In recent years, Warabi Mochi has become very popular. There are various types of Warabi Mochi in Kyoto, each delicious in its own way. However, my favorite is the "Goku" from Sasaya Masaoen. This time, I bought it at Takashimaya. There is also a shop at Isetan, where you can find matcha-flavored Warabi Mochi. While nothing beats the experience of enjoying it at the main store's cafe within its 3-minute best before time, the texture of the mochi melting in your mouth is truly delightful. I'm looking forward to visiting the main store again soon.

I went back to Kyoto to visit my hometown and I made a reservation to buy Warabi mochi, which I had been wanting to try. It's called "Shikou" and it's a bit on the pricey side. They use 100% real Warabi flour, so the expiration date is short, just for that day. They explained how to eat it properly, by scooping it with a spoon in ice water. I tried the Warabi mochi on its own first, and it was slightly sweet, soft, and melted in my mouth quickly. There was also roasted soybean flour to accompany it, but I think it's best to eat it as is to fully appreciate the taste of real Warabi flour. The elegant Warabi mochi disappeared in no time. It's not something you can buy casually due to the high price, but it was delicious.

I went to "Sasaya Masaoen" near Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto and purchased the premium warabi mochi. It was very smooth, flavorful, and delicious. However, I think the accompanying kinako powder is unnecessary as it dulls the flavor. Thank you for the meal.

Well, I was going to talk about Kyoto, but thanks to the Omicron variant, our adult field trip was cancelled. So, I pretended I was in Kyoto and went to the Meitetsu Department Store for the nationwide delicious food festival, where I bought Sasaya Masao's "Hon Warabi Mochi Kiwami." It was a bit firmer than I expected, maybe because it's winter, but it melts in your mouth and is delicious. The kinako powder made from Tamba black beans was also notably delicious. I hope to try the "Shikou" available only at the main store someday.

Located in Ryōan-ji Temple in Kyoto, the traditional Japanese confectionery shop, Kyoto Kashi Sasaya Shoen, is known for its signature Hon Warabi Mochi. This mochi is made using the highest quality A-grade domestic Hon Warabi flour, which is rare and highly prized. The Hon Warabi Mochi has a smooth texture that is both soft and elastic. Kyoto Kashi Sasaya Shoen was founded in 1918 by Yoshisaburo Nakanishi, who trained at the renowned Kyoto confectionery shop Sasaya Iori. They are committed to providing traditional Japanese sweets without using any preservatives or additives. The Hon Warabi Mochi is a popular item, known for its craftsmanship and attention to detail. Due to its high percentage of Hon Warabi flour, the mochi is very soft and viscous, making it difficult to cut into pieces. It is served in a box as it is poured in. Made with domestic Hon Warabi flour and a hint of lotus root powder, this unique mochi is highly recommended for its distinct texture and delicious flavor.

Wow, I can't believe I found my favorite warabi mochi from Sasaya Shoen, which I usually order online, in such a nearby place. What a stroke of luck! Established in 1918, Sasaya Shoen has a flagship store at Daimaru Kobe, where I happened to pass by and immediately made a purchase. Today, I bought the limited edition matcha warabi mochi and the standard one. This is my first time trying the matcha flavor, and it's delicious without any bitterness. Personally, I prefer the standard one with kinako powder. As someone who loves warabi mochi, this is my favorite place to get it, and I plan to go back tomorrow. I highly recommend everyone to try it at least once. They use rare warabi powder generously and make it by hand, resulting in a smooth and delicious treat that I almost don't want to share with anyone.

I have tried the "Kyoku" and "Shikou" dishes at this restaurant before, so this time I tried the "Shiro Warabi." The "Shiro Warabi" is a white bracken rice cake made with soy milk, which explains its white color. In terms of texture, it is not as gooey as traditional bracken rice cake, but more similar to agar jelly. Overall, it's worth trying once for the experience, but not particularly outstanding.

On a hot summer day, I happened to pass by and purchased this for the first time in a while. I noticed that a studio had opened up next to it and it seemed to have become quite popular. I bought the "Ultimate" small size warabi mochi for 1,188 yen. When I got home, I immediately tried it and the deliciousness was still the same. It tasted a bit sweeter than before, but it was just right for two people to enjoy. I heard that the flavor changes when you eat in, so I would like to try the eat-in option next time if I have the chance.

It was my first visit to a mochi shop specializing in warabi mochi located in Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto. I visited around 1 pm on a weekday. The shop has been in business since 1918, and their warabi mochi is handmade using the highest quality domestic warabi flour and a technique called honneri. I had heard that you need to make a reservation months in advance to purchase their mochi, but I was able to make a reservation about 10 days ago. I picked up my order on the way to Ryoanji Temple, known for its rock garden. I purchased the "Honwarabi Mochi Shikou" and the "Honwarabi Mochi Gokumi Ko." The Gokumi Ko is a limited production item, while the Shikou is only available by reservation. The pick-up location was at the cafe & atelier next to the shop. I tried the Shikou first. It was very thick and hard to scoop up. It had a sticky and creamy texture without an overwhelming sweetness, making it easy to eat. The kinako powder made from beans grown in Tanba added a fragrant and light touch. The Gokumi Ko was made with 100% honwarabi flour and topped with matcha kinako powder. It had a chewy texture, a nice aroma of honwarabi flour, and a gentle sweetness. As a fan of warabi mochi, I had wanted to try this for a long time, and I was truly impressed by how delicious it was. I hope to come back and purchase more in the future. Thank you very much.

Located near Ryoanji Temple, this shop is famous for its warabi mochi. I had my eye on the "Shikou" which requires a reservation the day before, so I settled for the "Gokumi" (small) instead. It was over 1100 yen, but it was so delicious and worth it! As a warabi mochi enthusiast, it was a very happy day for me.

I visited a traditional Japanese confectionery shop near Ryoanji Temple in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto today. Sasaya Shoen is a long-established shop founded in 1918. They are known for using high-quality ingredients without any preservatives or additives in their traditional Japanese sweets. The shop was filled with various types of sweets, but I was particularly interested in their Hon Warabi Mochi. I purchased the "small" size Hon Warabi Mochi, which cost around 1200 yen. The larger size, serving 3-4 people, was priced at around 2000 yen. The mochi is made using the highest quality domestic warabi flour and a traditional handcrafting technique called "Hon Neriri." It has a shelf life of 3 days, including the day of purchase. It is also available at Isetan Kyoto Station, making it a great souvenir option. The package included Kyoto Kinako made from Tanba black beans. Following the instructions on the box, I spread the kinako on a plate. The kinako had a nice black bean flavor. The Hon Warabi Mochi was a bit difficult to cut due to its high warabi flour content, so it was packed in a flowing state in the box. There was a generous amount in the box, enough for two people. I first tried the Warabi Mochi on its own. It had a sweet taste and was delicious even without any additional toppings. Then, I tried it with the kinako. The combination of the high-quality warabi mochi and kinako enhanced the flavor even more. It was a delightful and refined taste experience. I couldn't stop myself and ended up finishing the entire box in one go. This unique way of enjoying Warabi Mochi was truly delicious.

I bought the premium Warabimochi at a shop near Ryoanji Station on the Randen line. When you scoop it up with a spoon, it has a firm texture, but it melts in your mouth. It comes with kinako powder made from Tamba black beans, adding a gentle sweetness and a nutty flavor. There is also a cafe next door where you can enjoy Warabimochi.

Located right by Ryoanji Station, this warabi mochi in a wooden box is a unique treat that you scoop out with a spoon. It has a mild sweetness and a chewy texture that is addicting. It's perfect as a souvenir, and the addition of matcha powder allows you to adjust the flavor to your liking. Highly satisfying!

I went to have shaved ice. I ate the one with a expiration date of the day after tomorrow. It's really delicious warabi mochi, but somehow it feels like the ones you can buy at the supermarket. Well, it's really tasty and has a sense of luxury, but I wonder why?

I ate warabi mochi at a cafe and also got some for takeout. This shop was established in 1918. Sasaya Shouen has been dedicated to "warabi mochi" since its establishment. It is now run by the fourth generation, Shoto Nakanishi. The shop has a very historic atmosphere. The freshly made warabi mochi, carefully crafted by artisans, uses high-quality warabi powder that only accounts for 1% of domestic warabi powder, and its texture is unforgettable once you try it. The freshly made warm "warabi mochi" made by artisans upon order has a unique, sticky texture, which changes after 3 minutes. We hope you can enjoy the delicate flavors that change with each passing moment. Please note that due to being handmade, there may be a slight wait during busy times. The menu includes "Ultimate" warabi mochi 420g for 1,728 yen, "Ultimate" warabi mochi small 200g for 1,080 yen, and "Supreme" 200g with black bean and soybean flour for 2,376 yen. I purchased the "Supreme" one. The "Supreme" warabi mochi I took home had a slightly firm texture. It's recommended to eat it fresh. Thank you for the meal.

At the "Delicious Collection" event at Shinjuku Takashimaya (9/17-29), I saw a craftsman making something. When I asked how it looked delicious, they recommended enjoying it the same day, but also mentioned that it can be kept in the vegetable compartment and enjoyed up to the day after tomorrow. I received the following item: - Hon Warabi Mochi "Kiwa" Small 1188 yen It uses a lot of real warabi powder, making it soft and poured into a box. It is served on a plate with Kinako made from Tamba black beans, and you scoop up the warabi mochi with a spoon and eat it. I enjoyed it at home the next day with Japanese tea. Although I don't know how it tasted on the same day, it was soft and elastic enough the next day. The sweetness was just right, and it was the most delicious warabi mochi I've had in a long time. If I see this at a food event in the future, I will definitely buy it. I really liked it.

Takiyasu Temple approach wagashi shop Sasaya Masaoen is famous for its warabi mochi and has now become a popular cafe serving warabi mochi. I didn't make a reservation and was able to buy two sizes of warabi mochi, so I chose the larger size, "Hon Warabi Mochi Kiwami," which serves 4 people for 1,944 yen. The warabi mochi is incredibly sticky and gooey, almost like slime, but it is delicious! It came with kinako (roasted soybean flour) and matcha powder, which enhanced the flavor. Chilled warabi mochi was also amazing! It was a delightful treat that you can drink.
