Finally reached 300 reviews! I am extremely grateful to everyone who has read them. For my 300th review, I had the opportunity to try the coveted fugu shirako at "Uotomo." I stopped by for a light visit during a drinking party's second round. Since it was late, there was space at the counter, and I was lucky to be able to sit down without a reservation. The staff were friendly and welcoming. It seems like a sushi restaurant with a counter, but they also sell sushi. It's a shame that it was just a quick stop for me. In front of me were fresh-looking fish lined up, and the menu had tempting options like "I want to order plenty with an empty stomach!" You can order small portions, so everyone can order what they like. I ordered a sashimi platter, simmered fish, oysters, tempura, and of course, fugu shirako. Unfortunately, I only have two photos left. You can order in small portions, making it convenient for solo diners. I had just one light beer. The sashimi was fresh, as expected from a sushi restaurant. The oysters were cooked to my liking, with a bit of char. I didn't try the tempura, but my colleague said it was delicious. And now, the shirako! It's my first time trying it - how exciting! I eat it plain at first. I briefly sense a raw smell, but more than that, there's a refreshing, yet creamy and velvety taste. I then try it with grated radish and ponzu. The initial rawness disappears, but I prefer it without the radish to fully appreciate the delicate flavor. It was smoother than cod shirako, which I occasionally have. This place seems to specialize in fugu dishes... I would like to try a fugu course when my wallet is feeling generous. The location is on the first floor of the Mon Gate Building, right near the Monorail Heiwa-dori Station. I only saw the counter, but there also seems to be a calm tatami room in the back. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the place is not as intimidating as it looks. It's a great restaurant.
