Today I had lunch in Nishi-Umeda. I visited Tsurutsuru-an Hon-ten in Osaka Station Front Building No. 1 for the first time. I decided on the Soboro Teishoku for 500 yen after looking at the menu in front of the store. When asked what I wanted, I replied with "Soboro Teishoku soba," and was immediately told it would be 500 yen, making it clear that I needed to pay in advance. I placed a 500 yen coin on the counter, completing the payment. In less than a minute, the soba and soboro rice arrived. The soba was hot, with normal noodles, but the broth was delicious. The soboro rice was a bit bland. I really like this kind of standing soba shop. Thank you for the meal.

Tsurutsuru-an Main Store After a night of drinking, I always crave for a hearty udon with rich broth the next day. However, I prefer udon with a strong texture. When I feel this way, I highly recommend Tsurutsuru-an in Daiichi Building. I went there around 12:00 on a weekday and it was packed, so I had to wait a bit. Just as I was about to wait for my turn, a kind person who was waiting behind me told me to take a seat as a spot opened up. Most items on the menu are under 500 yen. I ordered the kake udon and soboro don set for 500 yen. The price made the salarymen around me very happy. I could choose between soba or udon. The food arrived in about 3 minutes after ordering. It was quick. You can tell when you taste it, this is Kansai-style broth. The broth is flavorful and gentle on the stomach. It's not like Sanuki udon, but it's good in its own way. It has a nostalgic taste to it. The soboro don was also included in the set, so I was full for only 500 yen. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely visit again. My hangover is gone now, haha.

A long-established standing udon shop located in the Osaka Station Front Building No. 1, where retro eateries line up. The shop follows the style of standing udon places, but the broth here is delicious. The broth is simple and rustic, mainly made from dried sardines and kelp. It may taste a bit light at first, but you will gradually feel its deliciousness. While a broth with a strong bonito flavor is nice, this one doesn't make you tired of eating, and you might find yourself wanting this kind of taste every day. The udon noodles are pre-boiled and soft without much firmness, which is typical of the Kansai region. It complements the subtly refined broth quite nicely. The shop opens at 8 a.m. and has seating available, making it a good place to take a break. You can also add toppings at a very reasonable price. The fact that you can freely add tempura scraps is also appreciated.

I got off at Osaka Station as a train enthusiast. I wonder where I should have lunch. Let's see... I need to leave a review this time. I ordered the soboro set for 500 yen. "Would you like udon or soba?" I chose soba. The counter has about 15 seats. The head chef in the spacious kitchen is great. The reconfirmation is done properly from time to time, but the "thank you as always" is at a slow pace. The dish arrived. Oh, I didn't ask for a sieve, so it's warm soba. (My bad) It's quite reasonable! Thank you for the meal!

☆彡This udon restaurant offers classic udon and soba dishes at the same price as standing eateries commonly found in train stations. Despite having two counter seats, the restaurant is surprisingly spacious. Customers can easily understand that they can casually enter this shop. There are daily specials with cost-effective combinations, such as a set of yakigohan (fried rice) and udon (or soba) for 450 yen, which is paid in advance. The yakigohan udon set (450 yen) looks similar to what you would find at a standing eatery, but the flavorful broth is delicious with a refined bonito aroma. It truly represents Osaka udon ( ゚Д゚)ウマー. The value exceeds the price, and the soothing broth is worth it. A yakigohan set for 450 yen is a great deal! I feel like supporting shops that work hard to provide such honest prices, don't you? (^ω^*) --------------------------- Thank you for reading until the end. Your likes, saves, and follows are encouraging. The alcohol content in my system is low, so I opted for a dish with a delicious broth here. I ordered "noodle-less meat udon" with a plum rice ball. It was my first time trying this dish at Tsurutsuru-an, and they made it with care. The broth here is top-notch, typical of this type of udon shop, and of course, the "meat dip" was delicious.

The underground areas in Tokyo and Sapporo have developed as passageways and are convenient. However, the underground in Osaka functions as a proper underground city. It opened in 1995 and boasts over 100 shops, creating a bustling underground town. With so many shops, it can be overwhelming. There are even up to 5 buildings, but I only made it halfway before turning back. I tried the udon shop, where they serve a unique "kizami udon" for ¥350. It's different from kitsune udon, with chopped fried tofu as a topping. You can add as much tempura bits as you like. The best part is the "Kansai-style broth", a light, soft, and less salty flavor. I found it to be cheaper than in Tohoku, and I was impressed by the friendly yet efficient service from the staff. In conclusion, I prefer Kansai-style udon over Kanto-style, and I was pleasantly surprised by the prices compared to Sendai and Furukawa.

This day, I decided to have breakfast at the station building. The morning at the station building had a quiet atmosphere, unlike the usual bustling scene, so it felt fresh. I chose to eat soba at this restaurant. They open from 8 am, and salarymen on their way to work were enjoying their breakfast. I wanted to have the mixed topping set meal, but it seems they don't serve it in the morning. I ordered the seaweed soba (350 yen) and a plum rice ball (100 yen). The soba was covered with plenty of seaweed, and there was also tempura bits on the table to sprinkle on top. It was a cold morning in Osaka due to a cold wave, and sipping the broth warmed me up. The rice ball was a triangle-shaped convenience store type, which is usually more than 100 yen, so it was a good deal. It's always nice to get change back from a one-coin payment. As I ate, more customers started coming in, showing that it's popular among commuters. Thank you for the meal!

I'm in Osaka. In Osaka, there is a shop located on the B2 floor of Osaka Station Building No. 1 in Kita, Umeda. I happened to pass by the shop and decided to visit. I was able to sit down easily, but the seats quickly filled up after I sat down, so I was lucky with the timing. I ordered tanuki and inari. The orders arrived in 2-3 minutes. When I tried the inari, it was small in size, with the fried tofu being light and the sweetness gentle. I took a bite and then tried the soba. The soba was soft, the broth was light, and slightly mild in flavor. I think it's very convenient when you're short on time.

I always rely on the main branch of Tsurutsuru-an for their curry udon, which costs around 350 yen. Starting this month, they will be transforming into a standing bar at night, and the udon will only be available until 3 PM. They will be operating as both a lunch udon place and a night izakaya, so I'm curious to see what kind of appetizers they will offer. I plan to visit as soon as they open.

I ventured into the underground of Osaka Station to explore new places. After a few minutes of wandering, I stumbled upon a lively restaurant with a good number of customers. The prices were reasonable, and I decided to order the "minced chicken set." Unfortunately, the taste was just average, but it did fill me up.

I visited a soba restaurant in the morning at 8:35. I'm happy that they are open early in the morning. It's located on the B2F of the first building. I usually have udon, but this time I decided to have soba. There was one customer before me and three customers came in after me. I ordered a mountain vegetable soba with toppings such as kake, zaru, kitsune, tempura, kombu, and mountain vegetables. The price for all of them was ¥350. If you add mixed rice to make it a set meal, the kake set meal costs ¥450 and the zaru set meal costs ¥530. It's a bit mysterious, isn't it?

I definitely think that the sliced soba or kitsune udon would be more delicious, but I ended up giving in to the heat and ordered the zaru soba for 350 yen. It's a reasonable price, especially with the addition of the side dish rice set for 500 yen. However, I feel like just the zaru soba alone might not be filling enough. It's a traditional soba shop that caters to the masses. It feels like a soba shop you would find in a train station.

Today's lunch at the station building. I didn't have much time, so I opted for quick udon. "Welcome! What would you like today?" The staff greeted me energetically. I ordered the mixed topping set meal. It arrived quickly. Fast! The taste was as expected for the udon, with slightly light seasoning on the mixed topping rice. It's not refined or incredibly delicious, but there's something about this place that I like. Thank you for the meal.

I have to skip breakfast a few times a year, and today is one of those days because it's the day for the company-sponsored health check-up. It's great to have the check-up, but it's tough not being able to eat breakfast. I think I could manage my health even if I had breakfast, but it seems that it's still not possible in current medicine. Today, I tried to go to a restaurant in Osaka Second Building that opens early in the morning, but they actually open at 11 am. I had to turn around and go back to find another place to eat. I found a place that offered soboro rice, but it came with cold soba. I asked if I could have the soboro with the rice from the zaru set meal, and they agreed for an additional 550 yen. The soba was served with a dipping sauce and grated wasabi. The portion was smaller than I expected, but it was decent enough. The soboro rice had slightly overcooked eggs, but overall, it was a satisfying brunch after fasting for 12 hours, and it was also budget-friendly.

Before going to the chiropractic clinic, I had some simple kake soba noodles as a light meal to avoid feeling nauseous during the treatment. It cost 250 yen, which was a reasonable price. I felt a bit lonely among the solo diners, but the soba warmed my stomach.

On my way back, I was thinking of eating udon or soba, but it seemed difficult to make a detour to eat, so I had tempura soba at this restaurant on the way back. The tempura seemed to be pre-made, but the large shrimp had a satisfying texture. The soba noodles also seemed to contain about 20-50% buckwheat flour, and they were very delicious.

On September 25, 2021, at 11:00, I returned to the basement floor. The restaurant I visited was 'Tsurutsuru-an Main Store'. It's an udon restaurant located in Osaka Station Front Building 1, with counter and table seating, all with chairs. The prices are similar to standing eateries. I was the first customer, followed by one person, then three, and another one shortly after. I ordered the Kakiage Soba for 350 yen. Payment is made when receiving the food. The broth was delicious, and the tempura included carrots, onions, and green beans, maybe even burdock. The restaurant is listed on Tabelog as opening at 8 am, but I couldn't confirm if it opens at 11 am on Saturdays only or every day. The closing time is around 2 pm. I didn't want to miss the chance, so I had it before lunch, and it was worth the wait. Thank you for the meal!

I finished my errands and headed back towards the station building. About three weeks ago, I visited a certain udon restaurant nearby, and at that time, I was also debating whether to go there or somewhere else. This time, I finally made my visit. My throat was dry and sweat was trickling down my back, so I couldn't handle hot udon. When I asked if they had cold udon, they suggested grated daikon with mountain vegetable topping. I hesitated a bit but chose the grated daikon since I wanted something light. Soon, a bowl was served with bonito flakes, shredded seaweed, and plenty of grated daikon. A little bit of tempura bits and wasabi prepared by the owner were added to the udon bowl for a photo shoot. The noodles were firm and chewy, as they were cold udon from Osaka. The broth was light, mainly made from kelp, with not much of a fishy taste. The grated daikon absorbed the broth and became incredibly delicious. The grated daikon was exceptionally fresh and tasty that day. The green onions were also crunchy and good. This restaurant is quite a hit in this area, and I will definitely visit again. Next time, I might try the meat udon with more toppings. The grated daikon udon costs 450 yen.

I ordered the Tempura Udon for 450 yen (tax included). I was surprised when it arrived in just about a minute! The shrimp tempura was large and satisfying to eat. The udon broth was a bit strong, but delicious. Next time, I want to try the value-packed mixed rice set meal.
