You may know this place as a bakery, but they also have a section in the department store basement selling Western-style dishes. Personally, I prefer the Western-style dishes here. On this day, I bought "Roast Beef with Mushroom Medley," "Roast Chicken Genovese Style," and "Spinach and Bacon Salad" for our home drinking session. We usually split these into two portions and enjoy them little by little. The roast beef was quite thickly sliced with plenty of potatoes on top and a delicious mushroom sauce. The roast chicken had a nice basil flavor, and both dishes had more volume than expected. The salad was also tasty with the balsamic sauce provided. All of this cost about 900 yen per person, making it a great value home drinking experience.

I discovered a delicious red bean butter bread at "THE BREAD" and ever since then, I find myself checking out red bean butter bread whenever I visit a bakery. This time, I stopped by The Bakery in the basement of Daimaru Kyoto after work and bought a few items, but I only took a picture of this one, so I apologize. I bought the Paul Bocuse Matcha French An Butter for 248 yen (including tax). The price was good, and it had plenty of red bean paste and butter. Since it was a matcha French bread, I thought the bread itself might be similar to a baguette. However, it turned out to be different from what I expected. The taste was not bad, but the texture when I bit into it was not to my liking. It's delicious, but I wish it had a bit more matcha flavor. This is just my personal preference, so take it as a reference.

Located on the basement floor of Daimaru Kyoto, this bakery is quite spacious. I visited for the first time on a holiday afternoon. I purchased the Cereal Raisin bread for an evening snack. The description reads "A cool-looking bread with a mix of oat, sunflower, flaxseed, soy, and cornmeal, packed with plenty of raisins. The raisins are plentiful and the bread is very delicious."

This is a limited edition bread with only two types available: raisin and cheese. It is only sold on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 10:00, 13:30, 15:30, and 17:30. Since it is a limited edition bread, there are only a limited number available. There is often a line, so sometimes they distribute numbered tickets. Both the raisin and cheese bread are freshly baked and warm, so the plastic bags are not sealed.

At the Daimaru Kyoto store's food basement where you can buy bread from multiple bakeries at the same register, my partner wanted to try the Paul Bocuse "Tiramisu-style Melon Pan," while I found the Paul Bocuse "Yakisoba Pan," as well as the "German Bacon" and "Egg Benedict." We ended up buying four items all from Paul Bocuse. The "German Bacon" was a safe and tasty choice, while the "Egg Benedict" was impressively recreated and delicious. The "Yakisoba Pan" was decent, but not as good as expected. Now, the issue was with the "Tiramisu-style Melon Pan"... While it did have the Tiramisu touch, we couldn't figure out where the melon part was. After cutting it in half and sharing, we both ended up saying, "Isn't this more like steamed bread?" Paul Bocuse, points deducted.

I had some errands in Shijo after a long time and stopped by Daimaru Kyoto store on my way back. I bought a bento box at the Paul Bocuse deli counter here. This one is for my husband. He is picky with vegetables, so I asked for one with "meat" (*^^*) and less rice. It seemed like the portion was not enough. He said the taste was delicious though. I also bought some bread. There are several stores, so I'm not sure if all three items were from here. I can't go there very often, so I enjoy looking around and choosing. Department store basements are fun. If my husband was with me, he would probably have a fierce look on his face (laugh).

At the Depachika (basement food floor) of Daimaru Kyoto, there is a bakery called "The Bakery" where you can find bread from four different bakeries. It's convenient because you can choose from any bakery and pay for everything at one centralized cash register. On this particular day, I purchased a total of five items from three different bakeries. One of the items I bought was the "Awaji Island Onion Brioche" from "Paul Bocuse." It was delicious with plenty of onions that paired well with the bread.

There are 7 bakeries gathered on the basement floor of Daimaru Kyoto store. Popular shops such as THE CITY BAKERY, Le Petit Mec, Paul Bocuse, DONQ, Boulangerie Brian, Mini One, and PAUL are all there, making it difficult to choose. Paul Bocuse is a high-end French restaurant that also has a bakery. I purchased the Triangle sandwich (388 yen) which is a classic sandwich with ham, egg, lettuce, and tomato. The fluffy egg, tasty ham, crispy lettuce, fresh tomato - it was a delicious sandwich.

Vegetable and meat bread ◎○... The meat is well seasoned and it has a pizza-like flavor. Melon pan milk bread ◎○... A milk bread with plenty of butter that peels off layer by layer. The surface has a melon pan cookie dough. Chocolate scone ◎○... Crispy to the point of crumbling. Creme Pullman 1 loaf for 583 yen... A cream-filled, soft bread that melts in your mouth.

In April 2022, at Daimaru underground, you can buy bread from Paul Bocuse, Donq, and Brian at the same register. I like all of the bread options, but this time I chose Paul Bocuse. They have a wide variety of bread that suits my taste, and they are a bakery that you can't find in other stores in Kyoto prefecture like Takashimaya in Kawaramachi. The Fruit Danish and Egg Benedict were both carefully packed in plastic cases to prevent them from getting squished. They looked cute, tasted delicious, and were just the right size. In June, I tried the Yudane Shokupan 7 slices (square loaf) which is quite large, even though it's labeled as 7 slices, it's slightly thicker than 6 slices. There was also a "6 slices" option which was thinner, more like 5 slices. I first tried it warmed up in the microwave without toasting it, and I was surprised by how fluffy and fragrant it was. It was incredibly delicious! My daughter, who is sensitive to the taste of bread, seemed to really like the bread crust, and she enjoyed eating the crusty end pieces.

Paul Bocuse, a bakery located 3-5 minutes walk from Karasuma Station, is a popular bakery with branches nationwide. While in Tokyo it may be more known for its bistro cuisine, their bakery is also quite popular. The fact that it is conveniently located in the Daimaru Kyoto underground food store near Karasuma Station makes it easy to stop by while shopping. This time, I purchased their popular cream pan and curry pan. Both are classic items that clearly showcase the quality and uniqueness of the bakery. The ingredients are solid and well-balanced, with just the right amount, making the harmony with the bread dough exquisite! If you have the chance to visit Daimaru Kyoto, be sure to stop by. Bon appétit!

It's been a while since I went to Daimaru and visited a few bakeries. On this day, I tried the Chocolat Twist (172 yen) from Paul Bocuse, which was said to be popular with children (lol). I also got the Anpan Granules (194 yen), the delicious Frank Roll Carbonara (291 yen), Cream Pan (194 yen), and Jam Pan (194 yen). I didn't go for the fancy bread this time, but stuck to the well-known sweet breads, which are always tasty no matter where you bite into them.

This time, I visited a bakery located on the basement floor of Daimaru Kyoto Store on Shijo Street in Kyoto. It is a bakery called The BAKERY where you can buy bread from several shops at the same cash register. This time, I bought my favorite croissant and cream puff. The croissant had a crispy texture and was generously filled with butter, making it delicious. I would like to try various other breads next time as well. Thank you for the meal.

I met up with a friend at Daimaru Kyoto store. I arrived a little early, so I wandered around the store. When passing by Paul Bocuse at Daimaru Kyoto store, I saw a sign saying, "Raisin bread" and "Cheese bread" are only sold on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and may require a numbered ticket due to customer demand. Luckily, I was there early and was able to buy the "Cheese bread." It was soft and moist with baked cheese on top, and it smelled amazing. My friends from Kyoto were also delighted to try this limited bread. I definitely want to visit again on a Friday.

Today, I stopped by the PAUL BOCUSE bakery at Daimaru Kyoto while I was in Shijo for errands. The store had a wide selection of breads in a spacious area on the food floor underground. I purchased three different breads to take home.
- Camembert: A round bread with Camembert cheese kneaded into the dough. It had a lovely cheese flavor and a soft, chewy texture.
- Ultimate Salted Bread: A popular item described as a "Hokkaido red bean butter sandwich." It had a crispy surface and a balanced saltiness in the dough, with a nice collaboration of butter and red bean paste.
- Ham Flower: A roll bread with ham rolled inside. It had a generous amount of ham and the combination of cheese and ham tasted great.
Overall, I was impressed by the high quality of the bakery.

I decided to buy bread from Paul Bocuse. The shop owner said, "This bread is easy to eat and delicious for Japanese people." So, I bought sliced bread. Since there are only two of us at home, I got 3 slices. The bread is soft, so it is good to eat as is. I prefer toast, so it's not my favorite.

In Kyoto, Paul Bocuse's bread is only sold at the Kyoto Daimaru department store's basement. There are four stores here including Donq, but I always use Paul Bocuse. The store's recommended items include more extreme Cheese France, salt bread, and high-quality bread, but my favorite here is the Premium Aged Beef Curry Bread! It's a bit pricey at 205 yen, but worth it. It's made with focaccia dough, so it's chewy and filled with plenty of beef curry inside. The texture is really good. Before the renovation, there were more varieties of bread that I liked, but the selling space has become smaller, so it can't be helped. Also, due to COVID-19, each bread is wrapped in plastic, so you can't eat them fresh on the spot, which is a shame. I hope COVID-19 ends soon so we can enjoy freshly baked bread again!

I used to buy Paul Bocuse's bâtard at Daimaru in Osaka, which was cheap and delicious, although not exactly to my taste. However, Daimaru is currently closed, so I have been missing out on delicious bread lately. Fortunately, I heard that Daimaru is open in Kyoto, so I decided to stop by after work. Kyoto, without any foreign tourists, was even quieter than when I used to live there. Learning from my past experience, this time I tried dipping the bread in chickpea dip. This way of eating suits it better.
