Himejima Station and Fukue Station are about halfway between. There is a small restaurant converted from a detached house called "Gohan-ya Hayashida," with a sign that exudes a nostalgic feeling. At lunchtime, the tables are full. I managed to find a seat at the counter, where the waitresses, a lovely lady in a traditional Japanese apron and a glamorous lady reminiscent of Mrs. Dewi, served with a gentle demeanor. "Today's set meal is sweet and sour pork, would you like that?" they asked. Other options included yakisoba, curry rice, and sobameshi. After some hesitation, I ended up ordering the sweet and sour pork set meal for 600 yen. The waitress asked if I wanted a large portion of rice, but I opted for a regular one. The set meal arrived in about 3 minutes, consisting of sweet and sour pork, rice, miso soup, spaghetti salad, dessert, and pickles. The sweet and sour pork had a rich and mild taste with no sharpness from the vinegar. The pork belly block was juicy and delicious. The pickles included daikon radish and watermelon rind, which brought back nostalgic memories. The miso soup was hearty, and the rice was fluffy and chewy. It was a satisfying set meal. When I was about to leave, they offered me a cup of coffee with two seaweed and strawberry candies on the tray. The warmth of the place was evident once again. I paid 700 yen at the counter, but the waitress insisted on only taking 600 yen, saying it was a service. It's a great restaurant... I should have come here sooner. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

The daily special was tofu hamburger on this day. The price was cheap, but the quality was even lower. Was the tofu hamburger frozen? Dry and tasteless. Smoking is allowed inside, and the smell of cigarettes is unbearable. I won't go there again.
