The other day on Saturday, May 30th, a friend from the neighborhood celebrated my birthday by ordering a strawberry shortcake from Fujiya Bellfa Toshima store. My actual birthday was on May 19th, but the store was closed for COVID-19 measures, so we had to wait until May 25th when they reopened to place the order in time for my birthday month. I wasn't too concerned about celebrating in the birthday month, but it worked out well. The strawberry shortcake, made of strawberries, Chantilly cream, and sponge, is a standard choice, and I was initially curious why my friend chose Fujiya. However, after trying it, I understood why. Despite being a heavy drinker who prefers strong flavors, I rarely eat sweet treats. But this cake had a light and not overly sweet taste, making it enjoyable even for those who don't like overly sweet desserts. It was carefully handmade and surpassed the taste of many cake and pastry shops, making it a delicious treat that I thoroughly enjoyed. YUKI's food blog: https://ameblo.jp/technopop-yuki/

Famous Peko-chan's shop, Fujiya. It became the main cake shop after Eagle Seika's Manor closed a few years ago. They offer classic items like strawberry shortcake and chocolate cake, as well as small whole cakes and roll cakes. You can buy a cake for a family of four for around 1000 yen. They also have sales where you can get 4 cut cakes for 999 yen on certain days each month. The taste is not too sweet, using sugar and fruit in a balanced way, making it suitable for families with young children. They also sell baked goods and candies, but nothing particularly special. When I visited in the summer, the shortcake decorations in the showcase looked a bit tired, with the whipped cream edges drooping. It seemed like a quality control issue, but I haven't noticed it recently, so maybe it has improved.

This is a pastry shop located inside a supermarket. I have used this shop a few times to buy snacks for home. There is a large parking lot here, but most people come on bikes or bicycles as it is convenient when visiting the supermarket. This time, I didn't have much time to visit the shop before going to my aunt's place, so I ended up coming here. There used to be Takarabune in Miyakojima before (that's old), but it's gone now, and all that's left are Senbei crackers. This place itself is fine, but the building it's in is terrible. There is no sense of cleanliness at all. It's just getting worse and worse. Hang in there, Miyakojima!
