I'm in Fukuoka. There was a shop at Koga SA on the Kyushu Expressway. On the way from Hakata to Nakama City, I visited the shop for a toilet break. I casually took a look around the store for souvenirs. Feeling a bit hungry, I bought a skewered chicken onigiri. But, I felt like it wasn't quite enough. Then, as if it was planned, I found this shop. I ended up buying 3 pieces of fried chicken (330 yen). The staff was efficient and friendly. The fried chicken they put in a paper bag was hot and smelled delicious. I couldn't wait to eat it. I rushed back to the car and immediately tried a piece of fried chicken on a toothpick. It had a slightly sweet seasoning. Is this Kyushu's fried chicken? The deliciousness almost made me want to scream. I might like this taste. Sometimes, I see this product available for mail order in Osaka. Next time I see it, I might order a lot.

Without bones, 6 pieces for 640JPY. "Wow, it's a swallow! So cute!" "Oh, there's a baby too!" "I thought they would nest in houses along the coast." And then, at the Koga Interchange Service Area, the devilish Pochin devoured some fried chicken. "Ah, how cruel to enjoy the cuteness of the swallows and then eat fried chicken immediately after. What a devilish Pochin." Despite these thoughts, I enjoyed the delicious meal.

Small Country & Amao Mix (cup) for 380 yen. Surprisingly delicious. Even with the cup about 50cm away from my nose, I could still smell the good aroma. I took a break here on my way back from Fukuoka City, which was also a restroom stop. Now, it's time to head home. Suica is accepted here.

The timeline is all over the place, but on the way back from Fukuoka to Yamaguchi, we made a detour to Koga Inter. Feeling a bit hungry, we decided to get some takeout from this shop. Since it was late in the evening, the showcase was empty. They offered 6 pieces of fried chicken for 640 yen, and you could add a non-alcoholic beer for an additional 150 yen. We were told to wait for about 8 minutes, so we waited. They gave us a buzzer to notify us when the order was ready. When we picked up the order at the register, they also gave us some skewers. The fried chicken was delicious with a sweet and savory flavor. Thank you for the meal.

However, inside, there are kitchens connected, and the same staff are running multiple shops. Among them is "Mitse Chicken Honpo," a brand from Yoko-san in Saga. They have signature dishes like pickled deep-fried chicken and chicken meatballs on skewers. I was just a little hungry, so I ordered boneless chicken, 3 pieces for 320 yen. My junior colleague was driving, so we ate in the car. It was delicious, even though it wasn't freshly fried. Hello♪ I am Mitsuse chicken♪ Born in France, Mitsuse chicken has purebred French chicken parents. Currently being raised mainly in Saga Prefecture. The place that sells Mitsuse chicken is called "Mitsuse Chicken Honpo". It is a specialty store for Mitsuse chicken based in Saga Prefecture. They have a strong commitment to raising Mitsuse chicken with care and provide it at a reasonable price. You can find their sales booth on the outside of the building at the Fukuoka Service Area on the Kyushu Expressway. Among the various local products from Kyushu, their stand stands out. Their fried Mitsuse chicken is a recommended menu item, but what caught my eye even more was the "Fluffy and Tender Tsukune Skewers". Unfortunately, when I visited, there were only 2 skewers left. Normally, this might be disappointing, but for us, it was actually convenient as we were only 2 people and didn't want to fight over the last skewer. So, we ended up buying 2 skewers for 260 yen. The tenderness and flavor were genuine, even though the "fluffy and tender" aspect was debatable. It's a great snack for a drive and at 130 yen per skewer, it's a good deal!

Today, I took a break at the Koga SA on the Kyushu Expressway. Before dinner, I decided to satisfy my hunger a little. I was drawn to the warm lights at dusk. I joined the line at the "Misetsuse Chicken Honpo," which is said to have originated in Saga. Hmm, upon closer inspection, the showcase was empty. I scanned for something delicious. The fried chicken and chicken wings were sold out, with a 10-minute wait for more. So, I purchased the last two "Fluffy and Melty Tsukune (130 yen)." They were like dumplings with white sesame sprinkled on top, presenting an elegant style. With one bite of the tsukune, I couldn't help but sigh at its deliciousness. The sweet and savory sauce brought out the natural umami of the chicken. What a fluffy, melty texture. The tsukune literally melted in my mouth. What incredible skill. The Misetsuse chicken, raised in the mountainous northern part of Kyushu, is truly remarkable. Next time, I definitely want to try the fried chicken. Overall, the fluffy and melty tsukune was truly exceptional! Let's just say it was the ultimate dish. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

On August 8, 2010, "This color stimulates the appetite at Mitsuse Chicken Shop♪" Recently, every time I visit, the shop and menu at Koga SA keep changing. I decided to stop by on a whim. What's with this crowdedness!!! The parking lot is full even though it's not even Obon yet, and everyone seems to be searching for a spot. After finally parking and wandering around, I was drawn to this shop. "Mitsuse Chicken Shop"♪ The naming of "dobu pickled fried chicken" really stimulates the appetite♪ I bought two packs of boneless fried chicken. They also gave me wet wipes and a skewer. Back in the car, I immediately tried one. The surface had a nice flavor with sesame seeds adding a good texture. However, the crucial chicken meat was dry and quite tough. It needs to be more juicy, especially when freshly fried. Well, the food at SA is all about the atmosphere and the experience, so it's okay, right? ===========

I used to think that you couldn't eat delicious food at a fast parking area, but the charcoal-grilled chicken at Mitsu Se Tori here was outstanding. Unlike other chicken dishes, it had a seasoned taste and a faint chicken flavor in the meat itself. I think it would go really well with beer, but I was driving at the time so I couldn't drink beer, which was a shame. Next time I eat it, I'll make sure not to drive so I can enjoy a beer while savoring the delicious food. It's a taste that will get you hooked.

I started a "PA/SA Gourmet Trip" where I stop by highway rest areas to try their local specialty dishes. After researching online, I set off on my journey! The first rest area was Koga Service Area. It was quite large with many interesting shops. I decided to try the "Mitsuse Chicken Deep-Fried in Pickling Sauce." The Mitsuse chicken is marinated in a secret sauce and then deep-fried. It was delicious!! Juicy, tender, and the sauce had soaked in well. I could eat these all day. By the way, after gathering everyone's opinions, this dish ranked 2nd in this "PA/SA Gourmet Trip"!
