Purple sweet potato croissant [Seasonal limited edition] Thank you for the meal♪ This shop is located outside the ticket gate of JR Kokura Station. I visited at 6:30 pm on a weekday. There were various types of croissants available. The most popular one was plain, but I decided to try the seasonal limited edition purple sweet potato flavor. The croissant was filled with a sweet potato paste that had a distinct purple sweet potato taste. It was delicious.

There is a croissant specialty bakery right outside the Shinkansen ticket gates at Kokura Station. They offer a wide variety of croissants such as cinnamon, black tea, cocoa, and matcha. They are all on the sweeter side, but not overly sweet, making them perfect for a quick snack. The croissants are individually packaged and they also offer assorted packs, making them a great choice for souvenirs. I decided to try the black tea croissant to enjoy on the Shinkansen. The croissant had a pastry-like texture with just the right amount of sweetness, and it was delicious! Thank you for the meal! (^人^)

[Seasonal Limited Edition] Strawberry Croissant 318 yen [Energy 411kcal Carbohydrates 50.8g] / 100g. I found out that you can buy it outside the ticket gates, so I hurriedly came to the store. It's for completing my collection, you know. The lady in front of me bought an unbelievable amount of croissants, and the total bill was over 4000 yen. Then, I waited with a sense of longing holding onto the seasonal limited edition strawberry croissant that was about to be sold out soon. The atmosphere was like a scene from Les Misérables. By the way, Bolivia does not have a coastline. The capital is Sucre. Oh, I almost forgot. The strawberry croissant was delicious. You can use Suica for payment.

On March 17, 2022, when I was passing through the ticket gate to return to Nagoya on the Shinkansen, I saw a delicious-looking croissant out of the corner of my eye and decided to go back through the gate. I told the station staff that I wanted to buy a croissant, so I went back through the gate and purchased one with strawberries and red bean paste. The croissant was fluffy and the combination of red beans was excellent. Later, I found out that the main store is located in Wakamatsu, and it's even closer than I thought, right near a long-time business partner.笑

There is a croissant specialty store that seems to be popular lately. I saw it on TV and it looked delicious, so I stopped by. It's located outside the Shinkansen north exit ticket gate. There are various types available, but since it was my first time, I chose plain. However, one croissant is over 400 calories! It's similar to a melon pan. It's crispy and delicious, but I still prefer freshly baked ones. It's still tasty when it's cold, but I think regular croissants that are freshly baked are more delicious. So, I ate it right after buying it, but it might be better to take it home and lightly toast it before eating.

I often buy from here, but this time I tried the croissant rusk for the first time and it was quite delicious. I also had my usual chocolate to satisfy my hunger and felt very satisfied. It's right next to the Shinkansen gate, so it's recommended for souvenirs.

I was looking for "Mikazukiya" in Kokura Station, as I often see it in the media. I found it next to the Shinkansen ticket gate. I wasn't sure what to get, so I went for the classic plain croissant and also tried the apple one. The croissant was different from the usual, with a crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy inside. It was satisfying to eat. The apple pastry was also delicious. It could make a nice souvenir, as they sell it at the airport too.

When transferring to the Shinkansen at Kokura Station, I stopped by Starbucks outside the ticket gate, then took a detour to the Shinkansen gate and bought croissants as souvenirs at Mikazukiya. I always hesitate to buy something, but when I saw the sign for the limited edition matcha croissant, I couldn't resist buying it! But after reading previous reviews, I realized that I always end up buying it. I guess I'm weak when it comes to limited editions ^^) The matcha croissant has matcha sprinkled on the surface, but what's special is that matcha is kneaded into the croissant dough, so it's green inside. It also has white chocolate inside and was delicious. Maybe it would have been good with red bean paste too~.

The Sunflower Street inside the station is undergoing renovations, and I was wondering if Mikazukiya had closed down in this area. But I found out on Tabelog that they are actually located next to the Shinkansen ticket gate at Kokura Station. You can buy their products without going through the ticket gate. They had a limited-time strawberry flavor available, so I bought it (*^ω^*) - Plain (220 yen): This was my first time trying Mikazukiya's croissant. I had only tried it once before as a gift, and I remember it being matcha flavored. It had a Japanese taste and I ate it at room temperature, so I didn't find it particularly delicious. The plain croissant was a new experience for me. The packaging had instructions on how to heat it up, but I just reheated it in the oven casually (laughs). I used to think that croissants had many layers but were hollow inside, like eating just the crust. However, this one was dense. It had the crispy layers you expect, but the inside was also packed, giving it a satisfying texture. The buttery flavor was rich, and it was definitely delicious. I highly recommend heating it up. - Strawberry (295 yen): This croissant had strawberry chocolate inside. The dough was slightly pink, but the taste wasn't that different from the plain one. The strawberry chocolate was just right, not overwhelming. It was nice to be able to try a seasonal item like this. I couldn't decide between tea or coffee, so I think I'll go for tea next time.

This is a croissant specialty store called "Mikazukiya" located in Kokura Station in Kyushu region. The store has a small counter where you can order drinks and soft serve ice cream to eat while standing. The prices for soft serve ice cream are quite reasonable, with a small size for 205 yen and a large size for 309 yen (tax included). You can choose between a cup or a cone. I ordered a small soft serve ice cream in a cup and it was very rich and delicious! The store exceeded my expectations as a croissant shop. I regret not getting the large size. The rusk was also delicious as always. I look forward to visiting Mikazukiya Cafe next time.

JR Kyushu's Minna no Kyushu Project. HKT48 members arrived in Fukuoka to collect digital stamps. First, they transferred from the shinkansen to a local train and stopped along the way to buy croissants from Mikazuki-san for breakfast. It was their first time at this shop located outside the shinkansen exit gate. They purchased the seasonal chestnut and popular apple croissants, which they enjoyed on the way to Hakata. The chestnut croissant had a deep flavor with a paste-like consistency, while the apple croissant was filled with plenty of sliced apples and was also delicious. The coffee had a refreshing taste as well. It was a very auspicious start!

A bakery founded in Kitakyushu in 2005 opened an Ekimae store in 2017 next to the Shinkansen ticket gate at JR Kokura Station. The shop has a navy blue curtain hanging outside and a white-themed interior with a variety of croissants on display. In addition to croissants, they also sell rusk and soft serve ice cream. I bought the "Cheese" and "Apple" croissants. The cheese croissant had a unique flavor with the taste of cheese. The apple croissant had a good dough flavor and was not too sweet. You can also buy Kokura souvenirs here.

There are many different flavors to choose from, making it fun just to decide. In the popularity ranking, 1st place is plain, 2nd place is maple, and the most popular among men is cheese. The maple flavor has a subtle sweetness and is not too sweet. If you're unsure, I recommend choosing maple instead of plain. I bought the cheese flavor, which is actually salty and not sweet, so it's good for those who don't like sweet things. They are usually packaged in plastic bags, but they also have paper bags or boxes available if you ask, making them a good option for gifts. They are individually wrapped and can be frozen, which is convenient. They can last about 1-2 days without freezing, and after freezing, they need to thaw for about 1.5-2 hours.

I usually just pass by, but this time I decided to stop by and make a purchase. Among the many options, I chose the apple and chocolate croissant. It seems like this place is based in Kitakyushu City. Delicious croissants are always a treat! Thank you for the meal!

Croissant shop located at the Shinkansen exit of Kokura Station. It is located outside the ticket gates, so even people not taking the train can buy from there. Although I doubt there are many people who would think "Finally arrived in Kokura by Shinkansen... Let's buy a croissant!" Maple syrup lover like me purchased the Maple croissant. The croissant is in a straight shape. In France, croissants with a straight shape indicate the use of butter, while crescent-shaped ones indicate the use of margarine. In Japan, there seems to be a lot of crescent-shaped croissants, probably due to the association of croissants with crescents, but this shop sticks to the traditional way with butter and a straight shape. The maple flavor is strong, and the butter flavor seems relatively weak, making me think I might prefer the plain one. When I purchase again, I'll go for a type that brings out the butter more. Well, it can't beat freshly baked croissants, though. Baking pre-fermented frozen bread dough at home also tastes delicious.

Tonight, I am heading back to Osaka. Before that, I want to buy something at Kokura Station... but I don't have much time before my train departs, so I might only be able to buy something ordinary?? But I don't want to give up! Most of the reserved seats on the train are like Green Car seats, so the fatigue is different. That's when I noticed a sign that caught my eye: "Mikazukiya Kokura Station Store." It's a croissant shop right by the Shinkansen ticket gate at Kokura Station. The phrase "Croissants made with natural yeast!" captured my heart. Looking at the menu, there were 17 types of croissants... I didn't have time to decide, so I quickly bought the following two and boarded my train. Black tea croissant → This croissant is really delicious!! The aroma of black tea is nice, and you can feel the strength in the crispy texture! I love this one! Chestnut croissant → This one has chestnut paste inside. The chestnut paste is also delicious. And of course, the croissant itself is strong too! I was in a rush and only bought these two, but I regret not buying more varieties at this level... I wonder what I should try next time (^○^) Thank you for the meal!

The child wanted to eat a croissant, so we visited the shop located at the Shinkansen entrance of Kokura Station. The bright interior of the shop was welcoming. The website explains that their folding technique is top-notch in the industry and skilled artisans carefully hand-make each croissant to bring out the goodness of the ingredients. The dough is fermented for a whole day at low temperatures, which brings out a subtle sweetness. I bought plain (200 yen), chocolate (226 yen), apple (226 yen), and soybean flour (226 yen) flavors. I wanted to eat apple or chocolate, but they didn't suit my taste. I tried the most popular plain flavor, which was slightly burnt from being toasted. I could taste a subtle sweetness within the bitterness. Next time, I think I'll try eating it as it is. I didn't take photos of the chocolate and soybean flour croissants because I ate them before taking any pictures.

Mikazukiya JR Kokura Station Shinkansen ticket gate store Hours: 8am-9pm Closed: None Eat-in corner available (stand type) Completely non-smoking Takeout available A bakery that represents Kitakyushu. Frozen souvenirs are sold on the opposite side of Himawari Street, but here they also sell drinks and soft serve ice cream for convenience. Located in front of the Shinkansen ticket gate, so it can be used by general customers. The store is simple with a popular croissant shelf as the centerpiece, and gift packages are available. There is a menu for drinks at the counter for easy ordering. While there are no chairs, there is an eat-in corner. Croissants range from 200 yen, with seasonal options available for self-service. Cafe menu: Orange/Apple juice - 250 yen each Coffee (hot/cold) - 350 yen each Cafe au lait (hot/cold) - 400 yen each Soft serve ice cream: Small - 205 yen, Large - 309 yen (cone or cup) *Takeout only available for large size in a cup Vanilla soft serve: Small - 205 yen We had it in the eat-in corner. A perfect dessert after a meal, the small size is delightful, with a rich flavor of egg and milk but a light texture. Comes with a crispy croissant rusk at a reasonable price. It melts quickly, so please enjoy it promptly (not too much as shown in the photo). Takeout options: Cheese croissant - 247 yen Apple croissant - 226 yen Cinnamon croissant - 215 yen We shared them with the family. We reheated them in a toaster oven, and they were reliably delicious. Croissant dough has a lot of air layers, making it easy to eat. The apple flavor is seasonal. Convenient location, great for a quick snack while traveling on the Shinkansen with croissants and coffee. Personally, the soft serve ice cream was a hit, and I might make another detour to stop by again.
