I visited Fukuoka for the first time on a budget trip, enjoying Fukuoka gourmet food and the world-renowned street food scene. Fukuoka Airport is conveniently located, just 2 stops away from Hakata Station on the subway airport line. I arrived at Hakata Station around 1 pm and dropped off my luggage at the hotel before heading out for lunch. I wanted to try something typical of Fukuoka, so I chose this restaurant, Hakata Hanamidori. I went to the Chikushi Exit store at Hakata Station, but there are several other branches as well. I wanted to have something special for lunch, so I ended up here where you can have Mizutaki (chicken hot pot) even for lunch. The lunch menu includes dishes like Chicken Nanban set for 900 yen and Oyakodon set for 900 yen which also looked delicious. Around 1:30 pm, I was seated right away after entering the restaurant. Having individual seats separated by partitions was nice. I chose the Goma Kanpachi Don set for 1,000 yen, which came with pickles, fried chicken, miso soup, onsen tamago (soft-boiled egg), and Hanamidori egg pudding. The Goma Kanpachi was light and delicious, and the Hanamidori egg pudding had a rich egg flavor. However, the Mizutaki was the most surprising in terms of deliciousness. The Hakata set for 1,580 yen had tender chicken and a flavorful chicken broth that was just amazing. The appetizer trio, small dish, fried chicken, and Hanamidori egg pudding that came with it made it worth the price. When I went to pay at the register, I saw many Hanamidori branded products lined up, including Mizutaki soup, Hanamidori curry for 330 yen, and Hanamidori jerky for 600 yen, which seemed like good souvenirs. The Hanamidori egg pudding was also delicious, and I recommend the 2-piece pack for 580 yen. It was a delightful meal, thank you!
