Even though it was an unusual time, there were still 5-6 groups of customers there. Since the counter was full, I was seated at a table. I ordered the usual "Convenient Hirekatsu Set for 1,250 yen including tax." I asked to change the shrimp fry to horse mackerel fry. Lately, this has been my go-to choice. The cabbage is shredded, the rice is barley rice, and the miso soup is red miso. This is also a must-have for me. I often have tonkatsu in Osaka, but Hamakatsu's is just different and really good. The coating is crispy, the horse mackerel fry is thick and fluffy. The hirekatsu is also tender. They also sell dressings and other items, but I even use their barley rice mix at home (laughs).

First visit to this restaurant (on the website it looks like "Hama" is written as "Hama"). It was relatively easy to get a table during lunchtime rush, maybe because of the price range? I ordered the Hama Katsu Sanmai Set (with white rice and white miso soup). You can choose the size and type of rice, as well as the miso soup (red miso, white miso, or clam). You also get a mini suribachi to grind sesame seeds while you wait. The portion sizes were good, with thick and crispy batter on the meat providing a satisfying crunch. Free extras like rice, cabbage, and pickles were a nice touch. It was delicious!

It's been a while since I went, but it was delicious! I wonder why... Seriously, it was so good today. If it's like this, maybe I'll go to Ringer Hut tomorrow... Oh! I already decided where to go tomorrow. Their daily special... what if it's tonkatsu (deep-fried pork cutlet)? As a treat, I went to Tamano Tonkatsu Hamakatsu! I felt somehow happy. I wanted to try a limited-time offer, so I went to Tonkatsu Hamakatsu. I started with the asparagus wrapped in salt, then tried it with grated wasabi, and finally enjoyed it with sauce. I also had two servings of shredded cabbage with the original dressing from the restaurant, and ended up using a whole bottle of dressing. Straight out of the central ticket gate of Hakata Station Shinkansen, there is a shop located underground. It used to be in the city center of Kumamoto as well, but unfortunately closed due to the pandemic. I'm having a meal at Hamakatsu after a long time. The interior of the shop is chic with a black color scheme. There are counter seats and table seats. Many shops near the station are small, but this one is spacious. I used a lunch passport to order the Variety Katsu Set for 1690 yen with a drink. I could choose between rice with barley or shredded cabbage or sliced cabbage. With the presentation of the JQ card, I also got shrimp fry in addition to cream croquette, chicken katsu, Dutch katsu, and pork loin katsu. The Dutch katsu with cheese was delicious. I was satisfied with being able to have seconds of cabbage.

Yesterday, I had various tests and was told not to overeat or drink until today. So, I didn't eat much yesterday. I don't remember when I went to bed after drinking yesterday. Probably because I drank on an empty stomach, I got drunk quickly. Today, I had a lunch of pork cutlets and chicken cutlets. I had two servings of rice and miso soup each and finished. And today's topic... the vegetables were... carrots. Please, anything but carrots. I dislike carrots and sea cucumbers, so... other than that, everything was delicious as usual. The pork fillet and loin meat are of high quality, as expected from a tonkatsu restaurant. However, because the dressing is not tasty, I didn't ask for a refill of cabbage and finished without it. You can choose between white and red miso for the miso soup, which is good, but the miso soup itself is mediocre. I often have dinner at Hakata Station, and when I want to eat meat, I usually go to the neighboring Tawaraya. I thought it would be hard for shy people like me to go to Hamakatsu because you can't see inside the store from outside, but I really wanted to eat meat and felt embarrassed to go back to Tawaraya which I just visited. After wandering around a few times, I saw someone entering the store alone and decided to follow suit. When I entered, there were many people sitting at the counter, dining alone. I should have entered earlier... This time, I ordered the 120g pork cutlet set with grated yam for 1,590 yen (the grated yam was on sale for 180 yen off for a limited time). The way the cabbage is cut, the presence of mentaiko in the rice and pickles, and the choice of miso soup with grinding sesame seeds. I can eat as much cabbage as I want when I pour plenty of raw dressing on the mountain of cabbage. The tonkatsu is also delicious when you put special sauce on ground sesame seeds and eat it, but I love to eat the tonkatsu with salt and the cabbage with raw dressing the most. Ah, it was delicious.

Hamakatsu lunch was no longer available, so I opted for the pork cutlet lunch. I chose the large serving of rice from the start and also had a second large serving! But I only had one serving of rice. Good job! The miso soup was red miso soup first, then white miso soup for the second bowl! I didn't ask for a refill of cabbage (lol). The cabbage today was a bit dry. The pork cutlet portion was smaller today, but I still ended up biting my inner cheek... I often get mouth sores after eating fried foods. It is operated by a major food and beverage company that also runs restaurants like Ringer Hut. I have been going to this restaurant with my family since I was a child. You can choose how the cabbage is cut, between barley rice and white rice, and between white miso and red miso, just like you could in the past. It's great that you can enjoy unlimited refills of cabbage and miso soup. The tonkatsu itself is delicious, although not exceptionally so, but the prices are just right for a tonkatsu restaurant. They also have seasonal menu items, so you can try different things depending on the season and never get bored. It's a reliable tonkatsu restaurant. Additionally, they offer free meals for children under 5, making it a family-friendly restaurant.

Today, I mustered up the courage to try the Pork Cutlet Curry! You can get a large serving if you want. You can also get extra cabbage and pickles! Of course, I ordered the spicy version in a large serving. The cabbage was shredded nicely! This was my first time trying Pork Cutlet Curry and I was impressed by the presentation. There were four thick cutlets, which was more than I expected. The curry was smooth and easy to drink, not too spicy. At first, they brought a mortar and pestle, assuming I wanted to grind something, but I politely declined. As I ate the curry, I realized that the curry sauce was delicious and I couldn't get enough of it. Overall, it cost 990 yen, and I gave them a thousand yen bill. And, as usual, I ended up at the same old place (lol). But the chicken cutlet was new, maybe healthier? Good value for money? But I ended up eating a lot of rice as usual. Oh no, I'm a glutton (lol). I managed to resist getting a second helping (third bowl) this time! Maybe I'll save it for when I try the more expensive menu items! When I tried to enter, I was instructed to write my name on a list and wait. The restaurant is a tonkatsu specialty restaurant that is part of the same group as Ringer Hut. It is mainly located in Kyushu with one branch in a neighboring prefecture and one in Tokyo. There are 36 branches in Fukuoka alone, so it is well-known to the residents of Fukuoka. I entered the restaurant located on the basement floor of "Hakata Station Deitos," a commercial facility directly connected to JR Hakata Station. After waiting for about 10 minutes, a staff member showed me to my seat. The interior of the restaurant has counter seats facing each other with partitions and table seats. Since I was dining alone, I chose a counter seat, and coincidentally, there were five other solo female diners seated next to me. On the table, there were two types of sauce (sweet and spicy), two types of dressing, salt, and a tea pot. I ordered the "Hamakatsu Sanmai Katsu Zen" set meal, which allows you to choose between mixed grain or white rice, red or white miso soup, and shredded or sliced cabbage. I chose mixed grain rice, red miso soup, and shredded cabbage, and you can also get free refills. While waiting, I ground some sesame seeds. I poured the secret spicy sauce and waited. The pork cutlet arrived at the perfect timing. I opened the mustard and said, "Let's eat." I started with the eggplant as usual and was surprised to find it was actually sweet potato fries. I'm not usually a fan of sweet potatoes as a side dish, but with some sauce, it worked! I then proceeded to devour the chicken cutlet, rice, miso soup, rice, pork cutlet, rice, rice, pickles, sweet potato, cutlet, rice, rice, extra rice, rice, extra red miso, cutlet, rice... it was irresistible! I didn't know there was a Hamakatsu at Hakata Station!! I visited around 19:00, and it's a popular place where you have to wait to get in. The assorted cutlet set for 1,190 yen + Nagasaki-style horse mackerel fry for 280 yen is delicious! Try the horse mackerel fry with salt! It's so tasty! At night, the pickles mixed with mentaiko are enough to eat with rice! Don't forget the wasabi as well!

I haven't been to eat tonkatsu for a while... (*_*) I wonder when was the last time? I originally planned to go to the Chinese restaurant in the same underground area. But when I got there, it was closed. As I was walking, I found Hamakatsu! There was no wait and I could get in right away. When I left, there were a few people waiting though... (>_<) I ordered the chicken katsu and pork loin katsu lunch set! The soup was white miso soup (with the option to switch to red miso) and the rice was white rice (with the option for seconds of white rice). It was my first time having sesame grinding in a while (^ω^) The sesame was a bit too much, hehe. So I ended up using more sauce to balance it out (^o^;) Both the chicken katsu and pork loin katsu were delicious. The pork loin katsu was a bit pink though... I found a flyer called "Deitos Food Pon!" at work, offering a 500 yen discount for purchases over 1500 yen (tax included). I couldn't resist and decided to go for the tonkatsu at Deitos. As expected, Hamakatsu was busy during lunchtime, with customers waiting in line with their names written down. After about 10 minutes, I was seated at the counter as a solo diner. I ordered the lunch-only Hamakatsu Three-Flavor Katsu Meal with a soft drink for 1550 yen. It included 150g of pork loin, pork fillet, and chicken, served with barley rice, red miso soup with plenty of mustard, crushed sesame seeds, and their secret sauce blended in an 8:2 ratio. The katsu was tender, with a crispy coating, and delicious. Sometimes, I enjoyed it with just mustard and salt for a different taste. While individually owned restaurants have their charm, the clear rules and sense of security at well-known chain restaurants like this one are comforting. I had two extra servings of rice (cheating with white rice for one), one extra serving of miso soup and pickles, and my dad belly was finally full. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Hamakatsu in the Daimaru underground at Hakata Station. The atmosphere was quite comfortable and I really liked it ✨ There can be a wait on weekend nights. I had the 1,000 yen pork cutlet curry. It was quite spicy, but delicious ☺️ The unlimited cabbage refill was much appreciated. I plan to use this place for dinner when I'm tired at Hakata Station.
