I tried to go to a udon restaurant, but it was closed. This is the fourth time I've been turned away. As I was walking along the back streets of the old Hita Kaido, I saw a charming sign. I followed a side road and arrived at a restaurant called "Uokuni" in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Next to the restaurant, there is a large pond connected to a parking lot with fish tanks. It seems like a place that specializes in eel and river fish dishes. Inside the restaurant, there were two 6-seater tables, with one table already occupied. I went further inside and sat at a 4-seater table with a sunken hearth, and ordered the Seafood Bowl for 950 yen. Suddenly, I realized that this was the same restaurant that a senior member had posted about recently. They had the seafood bowl too, right? It seems like a stroke of luck that I ended up here. Oh, they raised the prices starting from August 1st? Well, it can't be helped, with so many restaurants closing down, it must be tough for them too. Outside the window, there was a large pond with carp and well-grown turtles. There were some large grass fish in there too, but they are not carp, they are a different type of fish. As I was observing, the seafood bowl arrived. It looked very luxurious, with tuna, salmon, sea bream, horse mackerel, octopus, yellowtail, red shrimp, and other types of white fish and striped jack. It was garnished with seaweed and drizzled with a sweet sauce. Wasabi and soy sauce were provided separately, for personal preference. When I lifted the lid of the soup, there was miso soup with clams and rolled wheat gluten floating in it. There were quite a few clams in there, so it didn't look cheap at all. I started eating and the quality of the white fish and blue fish was evident. Fukuoka is known for its use of yellowtail, and during the off-season, yellowtail cannot be missed. Amberjack is also popular, and during the cold season, mackerel, and in the summer, horse mackerel or other fish are delicious. The restaurant seems to understand these needs well, as they offer a variety of high-quality sashimi. The portion of rice was also generous. They offer a "large serving" option, but this was a regular serving, yet it was quite a lot. I confirmed at the time of payment that it was indeed a regular serving. Looking at the customers, from tourists to tough-looking individuals, the restaurant seems to cater to a wide range of people by ensuring a substantial portion. After finishing the meal, I was quite full. By noon, more and more customers were coming in. I overheard many orders for the "Tonkatsu set meal," but when I asked the staff, they said it's not particularly popular and is ordered quite evenly. I have other dishes I want to try, so I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.
