In July 2023, I visited the "Fujita Museum" located at the north entrance of Osaka Castle to see the national treasures. Before entering the museum, I stopped by the "Amijima Teahouse" at the entrance. The museum houses 9 national treasures and 53 important cultural properties. I chose the "dango set" at the teahouse for 500 yen (tax included), which includes two dumplings with soy sauce and sweet red bean paste, and a choice of green tea, hojicha, or matcha. I opted for cold hojicha this time. The hojicha was served in a glass made by a local artist from Kishiwada, with a perfect shape for easy holding. I enjoyed the dumplings and tea at the table. The museum was also very good, and the best part was that photography was allowed with smartphones.

I visited the "Fujita Art Museum" located right next to Osaka-jo Kita-Zume Station on the Tozai Line. The spacious entrance of this modern architectural museum has a cafe called "Amijima Chaya" where you can enjoy matcha tea and rice cakes. You can get a set of freshly made matcha tea and soy sauce and red bean paste rice cake for ¥500 (tax included). You can also just use the cafe without entering the museum. The entrance fee for the museum is ¥1000 (tax included) and they prefer cashless payments if possible. The view of the greenery and pagoda in the courtyard from the sunken tatami seating area is charming, and you can casually experience the world of tea ceremony by enjoying the rice cakes and matcha tea served in artist-made utensils. The entrance to the exhibition rooms is through the doors of the warehouse, and various parts of the floor, ceiling louvers, benches, etc. reuse materials from the old building, preserving the atmosphere of the former warehouse. The Fujita Art Museum, with a history of 70 years, was inherited by the son of the Meiji-era industrialist Denzaburo Fujita, and houses 9 national treasures and 53 important cultural properties. Opened in 1954 by renovating the warehouse of the Fujita residence in Aji-shima, Osaka, the museum was reopened in April 2022 with a modern design that harmonizes the old and new, featuring a glass-walled exterior and seasonal themed exhibitions. During this summer period, the theme is "fish," with motifs of fish that feel refreshing. If you have headphones, you can also listen to the guide on your smartphone, but on this day, I was lucky enough to enjoy the museum while listening to a lecturer from the museum. I was captivated by the lively fish depicted on the utensils and hanging scrolls, and it was a enriching time where I could immerse myself in the ancient world. This museum cafe is a hidden gem for Osaka sightseeing. If you are interested, please be sure to visit.

I visited before but it was late, so I wanted to give it another try. It's a nice atmosphere and you can enjoy matcha and rice cakes at a reasonable price. They don't allow bringing in umbrellas, so they asked us to put our umbrellas in the umbrella stand after entering. The umbrella stand requires 100 yen. You get it back though. It's recommended to use cashless payment when buying rice cakes, but you need 100 yen coins, which seems contradictory. I didn't have any change and I panicked. It would be helpful if they had a sign somewhere saying to put umbrellas in the umbrella stand.

Good building and art museum. The garden had a nice atmosphere, so I recommend going outside as well. They made tea right there at the café. The dumplings are available until they run out, but it seems like you don't have to worry too much about it. The staff were also pleasant.

At the Amijima Teahouse in the Fujita Art Museum, they have added cold hojicha and sencha to their menu. Today, I enjoyed a refreshing cup of cold tea along with two types of rice cakes. I took a break from participating in the museum event and relaxed in the morning. It was a leisurely time before noon. For the first time, I sat on the cushioned stairs and enjoyed my tea freely. I had a delicious time enjoying the rice cakes with red bean paste and soy sauce. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

At the Fujita Museum, you can enjoy a set of tea and dango at the tea house. You can choose from hojicha, sencha, or matcha for the tea. This time, I chose sencha. Surprisingly, even the tray is like a piece of art. The tea bowl is also from the collection, dating back 120 years. The dango was delicious with a nice aroma.

【May 13, 2023】To-odango. Delicious♪【March 12, 2023】I visited the Toshida Museum. It is located on the site of the former residence of Toshida Densaburo (born in Yamaguchi Prefecture, 1841 - 1912), and houses thousands of items including 9 national treasures and 53 important cultural properties. At the entrance, there is a tea house where you can enjoy delicious dango. The dango is superbly grilled on the surface! They seem to use expensive bowls. You can also enjoy the garden. Toshida Densaburo was an entrepreneur involved in the founding of companies such as DOWA, Toyo Spinning, Nankai Electric Railway, Obayashi Construction, Mainichi Shimbun, Kitahama Bank (now Mitsubishi UFJ), and Kansai Electric Power. In addition, the former Sumitomo family residence is now Tennoji Park and the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts. Furthermore, Kobayashi Kazuo of Hankyu was previously a chief at Mitsui Main Store in Tokyo but resigned at the invitation of his former boss and moved to Osaka. He became involved in the management of a railway company along with Kitahama Bank. Kobayashi's collection is housed at the Itsuo Museum (Hankyu Cultural Foundation).【List of Private Art Museums (around Osaka)】(List of museums and their founding organizations)【Ordered item: Matcha and dango】Price: 500 yen (including tax) Thank you for the meal.

Dango and tea! This combination is the best. The dango with soy sauce and sweet red bean paste has a strong flavor but not too overpowering, allowing you to fully enjoy the taste of the dango. The chewy yet firm texture of the dango gives it a touch of elegance. I love adding lots of sweet red bean paste, but it looks cute when just a little is placed on top. The tea, especially matcha, is freshly prepared right in front of you, which is quite entertaining to watch. The menu only offers tea, but it's a great place. After eating, you can take a stroll in the garden-like area, which is also a nice touch.

In the past, at the alumni association of a former company, we often stopped by the Fujita Art Museum and the site of the former Fujita residence park. This area is rich in greenery and has a really nice atmosphere. You can choose from three types of tea, but all the friends who went together chose matcha. I remember that there was only one dumpling when I came before, but this time there were two - one with soy sauce flavor and one with red bean paste on top. Despite everything getting more expensive, I appreciated that they increased the number of dumplings. We spent a little adult time and also held a reflection meeting for the next event in a quiet place. Thank you for the meal. The Fujita Art Museum used to be a gathering place for elderly people, but since it was renovated, the customer base has changed drastically, with young people and visitors from overseas standing out.

In Osaka, Miyakojima, there is a tea house called Amijima Chaya where you can enjoy authentic matcha and delicious rice cakes for just one coin. The tea and rice cake set costs 500 yen and is located at the entrance of the Fujita Museum, right near JR Osaka Castle North Exit. The museum, which used to only open twice a year in spring and autumn, has been renovated into a year-round open museum since April 2022. The tea house has a sophisticated and open atmosphere with its full glass design, making it a lovely place to relax.
Not only is the atmosphere great, but the tea and rice cakes are also top-notch! They offer three types of tea - sencha, hojicha, and matcha. I chose the matcha, which was prepared right in front of me, adding to the experience. The rice cakes are baked fresh after you order and come with two options: soy sauce and sweet red bean paste.
For just one coin, this set is quite a steal! The rice cakes are soft and stretchy, a unique and delicious treat. They use high-quality, domestic soy sauce and red bean paste for the rice cakes. The tea also changes seasonally, adding variety to your visits.
Amijima Chaya is a must-visit for tea and rice cake lovers, offering a delightful experience in a beautiful setting.

After visiting the tea room and seeing the tea bowls, I enjoyed a cup of matcha. Normally I drink coffee, but when surrounded by so much knowledge in an art museum, it's only fitting to have matcha. Time passed slowly as I thought of Sen no Rikyu, and I decided in my heart to come back and see the Yohen Tenmoku tea bowl again. It was delicious!!!

Yesterday, the weather was nice so I took a leisurely walk after lunch. I discovered a dumpling shop near the JR Tozai Line Osaka Castle North Exit Station, right next to the Fujita Museum which had just been renovated. In the lobby of the museum, I found a lovely space called "Amijima Teahouse." It seems to have been operating since last spring. The menu offers two types of dumplings, soy sauce and sweet bean paste, and a choice of roasted tea, regular tea, or matcha for just one coin. I chose roasted tea this time, but most people seemed to choose matcha. They prepare the tea right in front of you over the counter, while the dumplings are grilled on the side. The tea and dumplings are served on a tray made of keyaki wood by the artist. The spacious store has various seating options including cushions on steps, large tables, benches, and tatami rooms. I chose to sit in the tatami room this time and enjoyed the view of the garden. The space is also used as a tea room, with a wide and relaxing atmosphere. The garden view through the window from the warm interior was beautiful, with autumn leaves and blue sky. The two types of dumplings on skewers were subtly flavored and paired well with the warm tea. After the meal, you return the dishes to the counter and can stroll through the garden. The garden was much larger than I expected, with multiple resting spots, temples, and traditional Japanese buildings to admire. On the other side of the garden, you could see the Imperial Hotel and the high-rise buildings of Kyobashi, all under the blue sky. It must be hard work to maintain such a beautiful garden, but thanks to the staff, I was able to enjoy it. It was a happy walk on a sunny day. Thank you for the meal.

There is a lovely Japanese café open space at the entrance of the art museum, with a kitchen in the center. The design is beautiful and the atmosphere is very calming. Many people come here specifically for this café, but I used it after viewing the museum. I had two types of rice cakes and tea for 500 yen. The rice cakes are not large, but a nice size for snacking. They offer soy sauce and plain flavors, with red bean paste on the plain one. You can choose from three types of tea, and I chose matcha. The rice cakes are freshly baked on the spot and the matcha tea is properly brewed. It would have been even better if there was cold water available. The seating area is made of wooden chairs, and you can't eat on the staircase-like area, but it's fine for resting. The combination of the art museum's setting and these Japanese sweets is really nice. The museum has a large garden with many maple trees, so I'd like to come back during the autumn foliage season.

After the alumni association ended and disbanded, some employees who used to work at Taikoen went to the Fujita Museum. We were served a set of matcha and rice cakes for 500 yen per person. The matcha was already poured into the tea bowls, and the grilled rice cakes were placed on each tray. It might have been a hassle for the shop to serve us in this way after the alumni association event. It was a unique experience to enjoy matcha and rice cakes, which we don't usually have. It was delicious, and it felt like a taste that can only be experienced in that particular place. We enjoyed it very much. Thank you for the meal.

Dango Set - Thank you for the green tea♪ Located right by JR Osaka-jo Kita-Terminal Station, this shop is attached to the Fujita Museum. I visited around noon on a weekday. The menu consists of dango with sweet bean paste and soy sauce only. The set includes matcha, hojicha, and sencha. Most customers were ordering matcha, but I chose sencha as I was feeling thirsty. Today's tea is from Yame. Also, you can have two cups of sencha. The dango is made from rice flour. It's perfect for taking a break after enjoying some art.

The 100% rice flour dumplings have a firm texture but disappear smoothly in the mouth. The soy sauce flavor is just right, with a nice aroma, and the red bean paste is smooth with a strong sweetness. The combination of the sweetness and matcha tea is amazing. The portion size is just right and the set costs 500 yen. After eating, you can take a walk in the garden for free. Great value for money! This is my third visit and I will definitely come back regularly. Highly recommended!

In April 2022, a tea house located inside the newly renovated Fujita Museum. The stylish space is a nod to the historical gathering places where travelers and locals exchanged information. After viewing the national treasure "Youhen Tenmoku Chawan" that shines in lapis lazuli, I enjoyed a set of tea and rice cakes for just one coin (500 yen). The tea options include sencha, hojicha, and matcha. I chose matcha and was mesmerized by the beautiful preparation. The tea and rice cakes provided a soothing experience. Each set includes one soy sauce and red bean rice cake, along with tea. The rice cakes are freshly baked upon order, making it a luxurious and happy experience for only 500 yen. While you can visit "Amijima Tea House" separately, I highly recommend enjoying it after admiring the treasures for a cozy time.

The cafe on the first floor of the newly renovated Fujita Museum. Since it was a weekday, I was able to order without waiting in line, but it seems that there is a line on weekends and holidays. The menu consists of tea and dumplings, as shown in the photos. I chose the set with matcha. There were various tea bowls by different artists displayed for selection.

I couldn't wait for the grand reopening! I used to like the old-fashioned art museum, but they sold nearly half of the collection at a London antique market for a huge sum of money! With that funding, they built a new museum with a glass-walled cafe at the entrance and a traditional garden next to it. Inside the museum, it was quite dark - a contrast to the trend of using lights to protect exhibits nowadays. The new exhibition space was surprisingly minimalistic and clean, with fewer items on display than before. The highlight was a national treasure - a rare Tenmoku tea bowl in the final room. I'm not a huge fan of Tenmoku bowls, but it was interesting to see. I enjoyed some tea time in the garden despite the rain. The freshly baked dumplings at the cafe were a treat. It was a shame that the view in front of the cafe was just a parking lot, but it's convenient for parking. I'll definitely come back when the exhibition changes, and maybe have lunch at the neighboring hotel, The Garden Oriental.

Located right next to Osaka-jo Kita-ume Station! The place is on the first floor of the Fujita Museum. Rice ball set for 500 yen! This is the only menu available. Rice balls come with soy sauce and sweet bean paste. You can choose from three types of tea (matcha, hojicha, sencha)! They bake the rice balls and brew the tea right in front of you! It's great to be able to eat them fresh. The spacious interior adds to the open atmosphere! Thank you for the delicious meal!
