On a very hot day, they served me hot tea. The rice they use is called "Galaxy's Dew" and it is cooked in a pot at the store. Since I had the Roast Beef Bowl, I couldn't really taste the deliciousness of the rice. The meat was a bit tough and average. I invited a friend and went out for lunch. The rice and miso soup were to my liking. The rice is cooked in a kiln at the restaurant using a type of rice called "Galaxy Dew." The interior of the restaurant is bright, and if you sit at the counter, you can enjoy the view outside (well, it's just buildings, not a great view, but it's bright and I like it). Today, I had dim sum and grilled Wagyu beef wrapped in magnolia leaves. The blended miso sauce gives off a nice aroma when cooked. Dim sum here refers to small Japanese-style side dishes, so you can try a variety of dishes and the presentation of the meal was satisfying. I would like to go again.

When I entered the restaurant, there was a nice counter seat with a good view. Since the weather was nice and pleasant, I chose the counter seat. It was past lunchtime, so there were only two other customers besides me. I ordered the croquette set meal. It came with delicious salmon grilled with miso paste, which was soft and tasty. This time, I went to Tsukihigashi Hommachi store on the 12th floor of Kintetsu Department Store Hommachi store. It used to be a Japanese restaurant called Tsuki Datei, but it was renamed after a renovation, and now it has a more casual atmosphere. I noticed a limited lunch menu called "Wana Lunch," so I decided to order that. I thought it would be a lunch full of vegetables from the menu name, but it actually came with chicken cutlet as the main, and it was quite filling. The gratin was mainly made of vegetables, but it was delicious and comparable to macaroni gratin. The restaurant was bright, with many counter seats lined up by the window, making it a pleasant place to have lunch. Once the pandemic is over, I would like to visit again for dinner.

2021: Revisited "Tsukihi" (formerly known as "Gappitei") and their staff are now in regular uniforms instead of kimono (lol). The woman at the register has a lovely smile and provides professional service! They have a new limited lunch item called the "Wana Teishoku" - only 40 servings available. It includes a summer vegetable gratin and chicken fry with vegetable tartar. The gratin with carrots, broccoli, potatoes, and colorful bell peppers, along with the vegetable tartar on the chicken fry, are excellent! The meal also comes with simmered vegetables, okra salad, shredded dried fish with Japanese pepper, miso soup, rice, pickles, two types of dessert. Even the finely chopped green onions and pickles have an authentic touch!

Before watching the play, I quickly had dinner - I couldn't decide, but ended up getting the roast beef and risotto croquette set meal! It came with 4 side dishes, so it was a good deal. I enjoyed it with a draft beer. The roast beef was tender, the croquette was delicious, but the risotto was not very noticeable. While the portion of each side dish was small, the variety was plentiful, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The popping texture of the smelt roe, the crunchy texture of the vegetables, and the smooth texture of the tofu with a unique dashi flavor I had never experienced before were memorable. The pickled radish had a crunchy texture and a gentle sweet and sour taste. The rice brought out the sweetness of the rice as I chewed. I was very satisfied with the unlimited refills. The miso soup was slightly salty.

It's now called "Tsukihi," so it's the same place, but maybe a bit more affordable. I decided to give it a try. Since it was a trial, I opted for one of the cheaper set menus. I felt like having a beer. The basic set menu consists of either 4 or 6 small dishes with a main dish. It would be better if they offered the option to mix and match instead of a set menu. However, I recommend trying their fried dishes. I had it with a beer, and by the time I got to the miso soup, it was already cold. I couldn't really taste the special dashi broth they pride themselves on. The miso soup portion was also quite small. The fried dishes were okay, with shrimp being the highlight, along with two pieces of fried rice cake and a small side of vegetables. I felt like two pieces of rice cake were unnecessary. Overall, the dishes were nicely presented, but nothing stood out as particularly delicious. The restaurant also offers a course with all-you-can-drink option on their website. It might be a hidden gem for those looking for a place with a good selection of drinks, but in terms of food quality, it was just okay. The ambiance of the restaurant was a bit like a casual family restaurant, with a slightly awkward feeling due to the mid-range prices. I wonder if they have any standout dishes on their menu.

Despite it being a weekday morning, the place was quite busy with mostly elderly female customers. The menu mainly offers set meals such as "Kobe beef yanagawa-style", "Black vinegar sauce with Karasugarei and nama-fu and roast beef", and "Grilled silver salmon with miso and bonito dashi croquette" ranging from 1,380 yen to 2,980 yen. There are also kaiseki course meals and set meals like "Roast beef bowl" and "Yuba and nama-fu bowl". I ordered the budget-friendly limited menu item "Fried tofu and eggplant with minced chicken sauce" (1,080 yen). It was served on a tray with the main dish, side dishes, red miso soup, pickles, and rice. The fried tofu and eggplant with minced chicken sauce had a gentle flavor, with a delicious broth-infused sauce. The side dishes included tofu, simmered dish, pickled vegetables, and a spicy chili pepper, which was a highlight. The rice was made with "Galaxy no Shizuku" and although the portion was small, they offer refills. Overall, the meal was healthy and had a nice atmosphere, but the portion size left something to be desired. However, considering the clientele, it may be sufficient for them. The restaurant has a modern Japanese atmosphere, which has improved the overall experience. It will be interesting to see if this style is implemented in other branches in the future.
