Finally visited a soba restaurant. I had the kakiage tempura and large serving of zaru soba. The volume of tempura is quite substantial. The soba has a very refined taste. The portion size here is also quite generous. It seems like the set menu is a good deal as most other customers ordered it. The downside is that the parking lot is small. If you are not confident in your driving skills, I recommend parking at the second parking lot.

Hidden gem soba restaurant "Houmi" in Koga. I heard there was an old folk house style soba restaurant in Koga, so my partner and I set out using the navigation. Even as we got closer, there were no signs, just an old farmhouse-like place... "Houmi" is the name of the restaurant. Inside, they have several tatami rooms and a Western-style room, giving off the feeling of visiting a respectable relative in the countryside. My partner had the kake soba for 800 yen, while I had the seiro soba (800 yen) with a mini tendon (500 yen). The soba noodles were quite thin, and the tendon had plenty of dipping sauce. It was really delicious. The soba broth wasn't too cloudy, which was nice, but the dipping sauce was a bit on the generous side. I really wanted to have a beer... I wonder if the state of emergency will be lifted soon. Restaurant information: Houmi, 092-942-4416, 736 Shinbara, Koga City. Open from 11:00 to 14:30.

This is a hand-made soba restaurant located in a residential area near Koga Inter. As I walked down the narrow street of Jodo-in Soba, I saw a sign that read "soba". The restaurant was a renovated old house, with the seating area being a spacious living room. I decided to order the Park Taste Set B for 1600 yen. After placing my order, they brought me soba tea to enjoy while waiting for my meal. After a short wait, the main soba and tempura from the set were served. The side dish accompanying the soba was asparagus with vinegar miso dressing. The soba noodles were thin and had a good texture, and the portion was quite generous. The tempura was crispy and freshly fried, with large shrimp included. As I was enjoying the soba, they also brought out soba inari from the set, a delicious dish that replaces rice with soba. After finishing the soba set, the owner brought me soba broth, which had a light and refreshing taste. Lastly, I was served soba cookies and coffee to end the lunch. The restaurant is located next to Jodo-in near Koga Inter. Soba Park Taste Address: 736 Shinbara, Koga City Phone: 092-942-4416 Business Hours: 11:00-14:30 Closed on Mondays (Note: Prices, business hours, and closing days are based on my visit, please confirm with the restaurant before visiting.)

It was a small house that I almost passed by, but the soba was incredibly delicious. It seemed to be a family-run business, and the soba kariage (soba crackers) served before the meal was so tasty that I couldn't resist getting seconds. The main soba noodles were thin and hand-made, with a great texture.

Near Koga Inter, there is a hidden gem of a soba restaurant that I always passed by on the back streets. As a soba lover, I was very curious about it. Fukuoka doesn't have many authentic soba restaurants, so I was excited to find one nearby. The soba noodles were hand-made and truly authentic. The broth was light but flavorful. I tried the duck soba and zaru soba. There were many other delicious Japanese dishes on the menu, so I enjoyed some snacks while drinking, and then finished with soba.

Opened in Koga City on June 27, 2019, there is a soba restaurant called Bokumi. It's rare to find a soba restaurant in Koga City, so it's a pleasant surprise. The restaurant is a bit hard to find, located in a quiet residential area with narrow streets, so be careful when navigating. The atmosphere inside is cozy, as it is renovated from a large house, and there is parking available on-site. The menu is unique compared to other restaurants, featuring creative dishes like soba served with original kneaded items in a broth. The owners, a couple who used to run a Japanese restaurant, aim to blend soba with traditional Japanese cuisine. Some menu items are not obvious, so it's recommended to ask the staff (the wife) for recommendations. For my first visit, I ordered tempura and soba. The tempura was beautifully crafted, with large and delicious shrimp. The soba had a chewy texture and a slightly sweet and light broth. However, the soba lacked a bit of aroma and flavor, which might be due to the season. Overall, this hidden gem of a soba restaurant in Koga is worth visiting with friends to show off this wonderful find.

I went there for the first time with my family. It's only a 10-15 minute drive from home, but it's not easy to find from the usual road. The interior of the restaurant, which was renovated from a private house, was spacious and had a sense of openness. The set courses are a good deal. This time, we ordered dishes A and C. The tempura made with lily bulbs was fluffy and delicious, and the kachinage was soaked in a very refined broth with a hint of duck meat. The soba noodles were thin and cut in the style of Sengoku, and I personally prefer the 100% buckwheat soba, which had a good amount although it was a bit too refined for my taste. Oh, the shichimi (seven spice) here is very potent, so I recommend using it sparingly. Among the dishes we had this time, the inari sushi roll was amazing! It was rolled inside out with plenty of ingredients mixed with chopped soba noodles, and it was delicious! The side dishes were also tasty! Next time, I definitely want to try the Hakata fried rice cake soba and the kashiwa rice!
