I saw it on Instagram and made a reservation. I couldn't get a reservation on Saturday, so I was told to call if there were any seats available, and I arrived at 8:00 pm. The restaurant is small with a counter and a few tables. The indirect lighting creates a bright setting for the tables and kitchen, giving it a romantic and exciting atmosphere. The customers were mostly couples, making it feel like a great place for a date. The staff recommended three wines, and I chose one from the selection. The Japanese wine was delicious. The food menu included appetizers, two starters, pasta, and a main dish. It was like a full-course meal where I got to choose each dish, which was enjoyable. The appetizers were amazing, especially the Kyoto confectionery "Nama-Yatsuhashi" with cheese and caramel nuts. The carpaccio and fried eel were also outstanding. The carpaccio was tender and flavorful, while the fried eel had a unique taste with mushroom and dashi flavors. The pasta with sea bream broth and karasumi was a must-try dish that looked beautiful and tasted light yet satisfying. The main dish was rib roast, which was delicious but filling. The staff kindly packed the leftovers for me to take home. It was a special dining experience, and I would love to visit again on a special occasion.

Located around halfway between Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station and Karasuma Oike Station. I visited this restaurant with high expectations as it is part of the To. group. While To. specializes in creative Japanese cuisine, this restaurant focuses on Italian dishes. Every dish was not only visually stunning but also incredibly delicious. The dishes are prepared using Japanese ingredients such as dashi, breaking free from the traditional Italian framework. The timing of the service was perfect, and it was clear that the chefs were professionals. The standout dish for me was the ayu, cooked using low-temperature techniques to intensify its flavors. The only downside was that I found the wine selection to be a bit lacking in quality. While they offered a range of Japanese wines by the glass, I felt they could improve by including Italian wines, particularly those with a sharp acidity from Northern Italy. I believe foreign tourists would appreciate it. I will consider ordering a bottle next time as they seem to have a variety available.

I used this restaurant for the first time to celebrate my birthday while traveling. The customer service was warm and welcoming, and sitting at the counter watching the cooking was a fun experience. I went there looking forward to the seasonal appetizer of fresh yatsuhashi and the spaghetti with karasumi. Both dishes were beautifully presented and incredibly delicious, so I definitely plan to order them again next time. This is a restaurant I will definitely visit again when I travel to Kyoto.

The atmosphere, taste, and portion size were all great. The amount of food was satisfying even for young people, and each dish had a distinct flavor. The menu is enjoyable for both tourists and locals. I would like to visit again and recommend this place to others. The only downside is that the drinks were a bit weak, especially the wine.

The food was incredibly delicious. From the presentation to the taste, each dish was impressive! The portions were generous overall, so it's best to share one dish among 3-4 people if you want to try a variety. When making a reservation, I was told it might be busy and service could be slow, but the timing of each dish was just right - not too fast or too slow. The only downside was the limited selection of glass wines and the fact that they didn't suit my taste. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Italian and Kyoto fusion cuisine feels fresh and enjoyable, everything is delicious and tourists seem to be happy. The prices are reasonable (around 7000 yen per person without much drinks), but the taste, service, and atmosphere make it worth it.

The seating is limited to 2 hours, and it can be difficult to make reservations on weekends and weekdays depending on the time. The restaurant Fudo has a wide variety of a la carte menu options, which is great for someone like me who doesn't like meat or fish, making it one of the few places I can go to at night. I've been wanting to visit this restaurant for a while now. You can choose dishes from the menu or go for the chef's course. I informed them that I can't eat meat, don't like raw fish, and prefer not to have a fish-heavy main course. They asked about specific ingredients beforehand, such as foie gras and firefly squid, and I decided to give them a try. The firefly squid in garlic pasta was delicious without any fishy smell, and I surprised my mother by eating it all. The staff are all very considerate, making me feel comfortable dining alone. The food is delicious, and I will definitely be coming back again. ❤️

This Italian restaurant in Kyoto is my favorite. Everything I order is delicious, with dishes that have a rich umami flavor and a strong dashi taste. On this day, I ordered the mackerel appetizer, strawberry salad, sea urchin pasta, and roasted deer. The pasta that you can drink like soup and the tender roasted deer were both incredibly delicious, and I had a great time.

March Kyoto popular Italian restaurant guerrilla dinner meeting with a budget of 6000 yen. Recently, when my schedule suddenly opened up, I held a dinner meeting in Kyoto. This time, the restaurant perfectly matched the request of my eating friends and the place I wanted to go. I was wondering what it would be like for my first visit, but the staff kindly recommended ordering this amount according to the number of people and explained the 5 types of wine in detail. The friendly atmosphere and delicious food made for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. There is also a second branch, where staff members who are connected on Instagram work, so I am considering visiting again soon.

I finally visited fudo, which I had been curious about but hadn't had a chance to visit. The menu changes with the seasons, and the staff explain it well. Each dish was beautifully presented and exciting to look at. The taste was also delicious. It's the kind of place where you can't go wrong. Every dish I tried was delicious, enjoyable, and beautiful! I savored each bite with a sense of wonder. If you sit at the counter, you can watch the cooking process and have a chat with the staff, which adds to the experience.

I made a reservation for 5:30 pm. It was a 2-hour time limit. ● Fruit pickles ● Eel and shimeji frit with truffle oil, which was delicious. ● Akashi octopus with karasumi mash ● Karasumi and seaweed pasta in sea bream broth ● Pork pasta topped with Parmigiano. There were many wine drinkers, but I stuck with homemade lemon sour. It felt a bit salty, but high-calorie food is delicious. The octopus was delicious! ✨

The taste was completely satisfying. The menu was very unique and I couldn't resist ordering a variety of dishes, but I finished everything. When I tried to dip the leftover pasta with bread, the staff mistakenly took away the pasta plate thinking it was finished. However, another staff noticed and made a new soup for the pasta so I could still enjoy it with bread. Their thoughtfulness made me happy. The location is also convenient and easy to access, so I will definitely visit again.

Thanks to a friend's recommendation, I visited Fudo located on Gojo-dori, between Tomikoji-dori and Fuyacho-dori. Despite frequently driving by, I had never noticed the Italian restaurant from the car. This is because the entrance is underground and not easily visible from street level. I had heard good things about this place, so I had high expectations when I visited. Watching the young owner chef work efficiently in the kitchen was enjoyable as he prepared various dishes. The menu features a variety of dishes made with seasonal ingredients, from antipasto to pasta, risotto, and meat dishes. Each dish is a balance of flavors and textures, with creative ingredient combinations that stimulate the taste buds. The presentation of the dishes exceeded my expectations, with a focus on quality ingredients, attention to detail, and unique touches like freeze-dried soy sauce. It was evident that the chef has a passion for cooking, having left a previous career to pursue his love for food. He was friendly and engaging, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for casual dining, date nights, or gatherings with friends or colleagues. I look forward to visiting again. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I had been curious about this shop for a while. However, since it was our second stop of the night, we could only order three items. Unfortunately, they were out of their famous Yatsuhashi and foie gras miso pickles, so we tried the Yatsuhashi and walnut caramelized instead, which had a unique flavor that I had never experienced before. The pasta had a rich and flavorful dashi broth that was almost drinkable. The Sichuan pepper chocolate terrine had a strong chocolate flavor with a noticeable hint of Sichuan pepper. While it may be impolite to compare shops, if you enjoy innovative cakes like those at Libertébleu, you will likely love this chocolate terrine as well. Personally, I am a fan of Libertébleu, so I really enjoyed the flavor of this chocolate terrine. Lastly, the owner of the shop bid us farewell with a wish for a successful day at work, which left me feeling energized and ready to tackle the day. I look forward to revisiting this shop as our first stop next time.・Yatsuhashi and walnut caramelized・Red snapper dashi pasta with karasumi, nori, and green onions・Sichuan pepper chocolate terrine

Visited Kyoto for autumn leaves viewing. Tired of traditional Japanese cuisine, I made a reservation at this highly-rated restaurant. I made the reservation three weeks in advance for the weekend. Despite being located along a main street, the restaurant is slightly underground, creating a calm and modern Japanese atmosphere inside. We decided to order a la carte instead of the course menu. The dishes we ordered were: - Fresh Yatsuhashi with Butter - Marinated Eggplant with Karasumi - Seared Carpaccio of Red Snapper - Fried Conger Eel and Mushroom with Truffle Oil - Karasumi Pasta - Ribeye Steak The menu was not traditional Italian but rather a fusion with Japanese flavors. The standout dish was the appetizer of Fresh Yatsuhashi with honey, nuts, and butter, creating a delightful texture. The dishes incorporated Japanese elements like fried conger eel and Karasumi, which added a unique touch. However, the Karasumi pasta, inspired by soup pasta, was not to my liking as it deviated from traditional Italian cuisine. The Ribeye steak was simple but delicious. The restaurant offered a variety of wines, with a focus on Japanese and Italian selections. The staff was attentive and provided detailed explanations of the dishes and wines. The total cost was 17,000 yen. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience, and I would definitely consider revisiting this restaurant.
