Hakata Sanki Double Ion Mall Kashiihama Store @ Higashi Ward Kashiihama Never Give Up Ramen W
On this day, I went to Ion Kashiihama in Hakata. My goal for today was to try the newly introduced "Hakata Sanki" and the new menu at Burger King. It was quite convenient that both opened and appeared at the same time, so I went to check them out.
The store is located on the 2nd floor in the food court. Besides Sanki, there are other options like Go Go Curry and Ringer Hut. The food court is not very large, but it was quite lively.
I purchased the food ticket from the vending machine on the right side facing the vending machine. There are four menu options available at Sanki: Yaruki (default tonkotsu), Genki (spicy miso), Makeki (black ma-yu), and Sanki (ma-yu, minced meat, and eating chili oil). Sanki is known for using Fukuoka's special ramen wheat "raimen" at 100% and offering a special deal of "10 yen for extra noodles"!
However, at this store, due to the food court setting, the 10 yen extra noodles were not available. Instead, you could get two servings of ramen for the same price as one regular serving, with a 30% increase in soup volume. The price is set at +30 yen compared to regular stores. It might seem a bit expensive for a regular size, but it's a good deal considering the setting of a food court, especially for families with children.
I ordered the Makeki Ramen with two servings. The broth was rich and black with black ma-yu oil, wood ear mushrooms, and a dark visual presentation. The taste was surprisingly strong, but as I added condiments like spicy pickled mustard greens and grated garlic, the flavors blended nicely.
The ramen noodles were made from 100% raimen wheat, known for its firmness and resistance to overcooking. The thin straight noodles had a great chewy texture. I ordered the noodles extra firm, and it was just right.
The toppings included two large slices of chashu, wood ear mushrooms, and green onions. I added extra chashu, but the original serving was sufficient due to the strong flavor of the broth. I thought some more toppings like leeks or other garnishes would be nice to have.
Overall, I enjoyed both the ramen dishes. The quality of the noodles and the broth were impressive. I can't believe they offer the extra noodle deal for just 10 yen at regular stores. I'll have to try the Sanki Ramen next time I visit.
