[Shop Name] Ginji the Connoisseur, Asakusa Ekimae Branch
[Nearest Station] Asakusa Station, 1 minute walk
[Lunch Budget] 700-1200 yen
Visited in June 2022
[About the Shop]
I have visited this shop several times over the past few years, but this is my first time posting about it. It's a comfortable place for both small groups of 2 and larger groups of around 8. Located in a building in front of Asakusa Station, it's easily accessible. You enter the shop using an elevator. The interior is a modern Japanese-style seafood pub. The customers are mainly in their 20s to 40s, including male groups and mixed groups.
[About the Food]
- Four-color Clam Bowl (756 yen)
A clam bowl with four types of tuna, including negitoro and akami. Comes with miso soup, and the cost performance is good. Although the timing of food serving can be a bit inconsistent and sometimes slow, especially when visiting with a larger group, it's understandable considering the circumstances. Overall, it's a cost-effective and user-friendly shop. I would definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Wandering around looking for a lunch spot, I was drawn into a seafood menu on the first floor of a building. This place is a chain restaurant with locations in various places. I ordered the "Today's sashimi set for 1050 yen." I started by trying out various sashimi to see how good they were. There were two types of soy sauce, one sweet tamari soy sauce and the regular one, which was fun for changing up the flavors. When the food was served, I was surprised by the amount of rice. There's no way I can finish this. The miso soup was also large. Both are free for refills, but I wonder if anyone actually does that. First up, sweet shrimp! Pretty average. Then, tuna! Hmm, nothing special. Next, octopus! It was not boiled! It was delicious! Overall, it was just okay. The selling point is the all-you-can-eat rice and miso soup, so it might be good for those who like to eat a lot. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this building for lunch, which is full of rare izakayas in Asakusa. The lunch menu includes gyudon for 400 yen, seafood curry for 500 yen, and daily specials starting from 700 yen. There are over 20 different types of fried and seafood set meals available. I ordered the seafood four kinds bowl for 850 yen. It took about 20 minutes for the seafood four kinds bowl to be served, which consisted of tuna, salmon, negitoro, and white fish. I enjoyed it with the soy sauce provided on the table. I think it's a reasonably priced seafood bowl.

I used to come here for lunch and the staff were always nice. This time, I decided to try dining here at night for the first time. Since they are still operating with shortened hours, the last order for alcohol is at 8 pm, so I entered a little after 7:30 pm. Since I was dining alone, the staff recommended the "choi-nomi" set, which was a great deal. I ended up ordering two drinks, a seafood bowl, and edamame for only 1,000 yen, which was very cheap. I thought the seafood bowl would be small, but it was a normal size with a good amount of seafood for the price. The staff's service was as excellent as ever, and I had a pleasant dining experience.

Happy New Year. Even though there is no one here, I came to eat in a celebratory mood. I was originally planning to go to a different restaurant, but I got drunk and overslept, so I got off at a random station and found this place. It's a restaurant I've been to before. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they have the windows open for ventilation, so it's quite cold without the heater working. I ordered the sashimi deluxe set, a lemon sour cocktail, and seared mackerel. I might have ordered too much. I was planning to get a rice bowl originally. I was surprised to see that they offered an option to add rice to the mapo tofu, so I ended up choosing that. The deluxe set is quite filling, but the seared mackerel portion is so large that I'm not sure if I can finish it all. The flavor of the seared mackerel is really nice. The deluxe set includes tuna, yellowtail, amberjack, and sweet shrimp, all of which are delicious. I also ordered a frozen lemon sour cocktail. It comes with five slices of frozen lemon instead of ice cubes. As it melts, the lemon adds a nice flavor to the drink. I was feeling a bit tipsy, so I decided to head home at this point.

Yesterday's lunch was at "Mejiki no Ginji" in Asakusa. It's located on the 4th floor of a building with a Seven Eleven on the first floor (photo 1). When you take the elevator to the 4th floor, you are right at the restaurant (photo 2). They had a lunch menu on the table (photo 3). I chose the most cost-effective option, the "daily sashimi set meal (¥1,050)". It arrived in about 3 minutes after ordering (photo 4). It was quite a generous portion of sashimi, looked very worth it. And indeed, it was very satisfying. The pickles were also quite substantial, and the rice and miso soup were free refills. I had a second helping of rice. When my miso soup was almost finished, they asked if I wanted a refill, showing consideration for the customers. What impressed me even more was when a sudden heavy rain started just as I was about to pay, they offered me an umbrella. I didn't end up borrowing it, but their kindness made me feel warm inside. Good service, good value, good fish... It was a great restaurant with all the right elements.

I had a business meeting in Asakusa that ended at 2 pm. Since I hadn't had lunch yet, I was wondering where to eat. The options nearby were a family restaurant, a ramen shop, or a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, but none of them really appealed to me. As I was walking away from Asakusa, I stumbled upon an izakaya that was serving lunch. I decided to go in and ordered a draft beer to start. For a snack, I ordered simmered fish heads. For the main dish, I chose the sashimi set meal of the day. It came with miso soup, rice with free refills, two side dishes, and dessert. The price was reasonable for what you get, but I prefer the sashimi set meal at Marufuku Suisan in Ikebukuro. However, if you're looking to have a drink with your meal, this izakaya is a good option during the day.

【Today's Lunch】Had lunch at Ginji-san, a discerning restaurant in Asakusa (^ω^) I wonder what the daily special is today? There are two lunch options, "Miso mackerel set meal" or "Tempura set meal?" Today, I'm in the mood for "fish" (laughs) It was 700 yen. Thank you for the meal!

Delicious, reasonable, and with a great atmosphere, Izakaya Me-Kiki no Ginji Asakusa Ekimae-ten is located very close to Asakusa Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line. It is on the 4th floor of a building. As soon as you exit the elevator, you will find the restaurant. The interior has a nice atmosphere. It was my first time visiting, and I found that they have a wide variety of menu options, especially seafood dishes that are not commonly found in other restaurants. Every dish was both reasonably priced and delicious.

In Asakusa, I'm looking for a cheap and reliable place for a third or fourth round of drinks. This place is spacious, quiet, and surprisingly not crowded. They specialize in seafood dishes, but anything is fine. As long as we can order a la carte, anything goes. As long as they have beer. The lack of standout features is both the strength and weakness of chain restaurants. Well, that's fine.

This is a izakaya located right by the station. You can easily enjoy seafood dishes, and it's fun to grill them yourself. Fish dishes are tastier than meat dishes.

The restaurant is located inside a building right in front of the Asakusa Station on the Tobu Line, just outside the main ticket gate. You can spot it next to the Mizuho Bank on the 4th floor. Inside, there are counter seats and table seats. I ordered the seafood bowl, which had sweet shrimp, tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc. The balance between the rice portion and the toppings was just right. There are various ways to eat a bowl dish, but my favorite is to pour a little soy sauce into a small dish and drizzle it over the toppings before eating. Sushi is like fast food from the Edo period, so I quickly enjoyed it and left.

The reviewer enjoyed the breakfast set menu at the restaurant, especially the grilled salmon which was cooked perfectly with a crispy skin. However, they found the miso soup and pickled vegetables to be too salty. The staff were polite and attentive, but the overly salty dishes affected their overall rating of the meal.
