I decided to have ramen on my way back from Uozumi Saketen in Yurimachi 2-1, Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, near Moji Port Station. However, the restaurant I intended to go to had a sign saying it was closed for a while, so I decided to try Seishun Shokudo, which I found on the way to Yuji Saketen. It seemed a bit cheaper, and according to my research on Tabelog, it seemed to be open all day. It was still before 3:30 pm, so I thought I'd give it a try. When I arrived at the restaurant, the mother of the shop was tidying up the banners as if preparing to close. I asked if they were closed already, and she said it was fine for me to come in. Inside, a man was having his meal. The weather was nice today, but a bit chilly, so I felt like having ramen. They also had nabeyaki udon on the menu, so I decided to try that. When I asked the mother if they could make nabeyaki udon, she replied that they couldn't make it like an udon shop. She was straightforward and simple. The nabeyaki udon was served in about 5 minutes. It was simple, just like an udon shop, as she had mentioned. For the price of a coin, it was more than enough. If it was around 700-800 yen, it might be different, but the egg, which is currently expensive, looked delicious as a fried egg. The nabeyaki udon was delicious. It's perfect for when it's chilly outside, and it's also great as a meal to end a drinking session. The shop may be simple with the mother running it, but on a regular day, it's just an ordinary lunch at an ordinary restaurant. I think this is good enough.

There is a shop in front of Moji Station. It was quite empty around 12 o'clock on Saturday. The daily lunch special is 600 yen, and the hot pot udon is 500 yen. Can it really be this cheap and good? The owner's mother said, "People come out late on weekends, they start trickling in after 1 o'clock." She takes days off on weekdays because she has medical appointments. It's surprising that it's a selection menu despite being called daily specials. On this day, there were choices like hamburger, grilled meat, simmered fish, grilled fish, and hormone. It's amazing that there are so many options. The simmered fish was made with small sardines. They serve quite a lot. They ask if you need more rice and other things. "Oh, that's right, you didn't come by car, did you?" the mother said. When I mentioned that I didn't come by car, she said, "The Nara pickles have a lot of sake lees in them, so it could be considered drunk driving." When she talked about Nara pickles, it was clear that she liked alcohol. She even said, "I could put in more sake lees." The small sardines were cooked fresh and delicious. The overall price range is reasonable.

Around Moji Station, I was looking for a place to have lunch after work. I remembered seeing a restaurant called "Seishun Shokudo" next to Fugu-chan where I went last week. The menu was limited but the prices were cheap, ranging from 500 to 600 yen. I decided to give it a try. There was no parking lot, but there were several coin-operated parking lots nearby. The restaurant had 3 tables and acrylic partitions were set up between them. There was also a sofa seat at the back, which seemed to be for the owner and regular customers. That day, an elderly woman was running the place alone. They served barley tea in plastic bottles as the complimentary drink. The menu included curry, and they also had a daily special set meal. I ordered the curry, opting out of the free extra portion. The salad had Aurora sauce, and the rice portion was about 250g. The curry had a rich flavor with a slightly spicy kick. I could taste familiar ingredients in it, but I wondered how they made it. The curry was surprisingly good for its price of 500 yen. The coffee, which seemed to be from a machine, was a bit strong but only cost 100 yen. Three more customers came in, and they all seemed to be regulars. Despite the restaurant's name being "Seishun Shokudo" (Youth Cafeteria), everyone there, including the owner and customers, appeared to be older. I realized that I was still considered a newcomer in this place.

Daily special set meal (simmered fish) for 600 yen, Nabeyaki Udon for 500 yen. The name of the restaurant was funny, so we entered with a smile. The lady running the place seemed to have left her youth behind decades ago, but she was lively. The old man sitting at the counter was also in high spirits, drinking sake in the middle of the day. I ordered the daily special set meal with simmered fish, while my companion ordered the Nabeyaki Udon. The daily special set meal turned out to be simmered fish, specifically the head of a sea bream. I was a bit wary at first, but it didn't have any strange smell, so I felt relieved. The Nabeyaki Udon was made with soft noodles and had various ingredients mixed in a chaotic way that was hard to decipher. It was a different experience than I had expected, but the lady praised us, saying, "You eat fish very well!"

Yanagimachi, Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City. When you enter the road between the traffic light in front of Moji Station East and Umeen, there is a shop. It is a home-style meal restaurant where you can enjoy daily set meals, Dago soup sets, and curry rice. There is no parking lot. You can also order drinks only. This time, I ordered curry rice (500 yen). Curry rice comes with a salad. The salad is cabbage and lettuce with mayonnaise. The curry rice is a spicy beef curry with a homemade taste. It is really spicy, which is rare for this type of restaurant. The curry itself is not especially delicious, but it has a nostalgic taste. The only downside is that the rice is a bit soft. The price is quite cheap. In Kokura, this place would definitely have a lot of repeat customers, but in Moji, there are many other places where you can eat at a similar price. Personally, if the quality is the same, I would go to a different restaurant. Thank you for the meal.
