Miya Kurama-ya, a dumpling shop in Higashi Osaka. Although there are few reviews on Tabelog, everyone's ratings are high, so it must be absolutely delicious...! I visited thinking that. It is located in a residential area, but the store has a charming atmosphere. I went there around 1 pm on a weekday, and although there was no curtain at the storefront, the entrance was slightly open, so I wondered if they were open. When I entered, a woman wearing an apron came out from the back and asked, "How many would you like?" The menu only had one type of dumpling, Mikuriya Dango, available in 5, 10, or 20 pieces. This time, I chose the 5-piece set! It's 350 yen for 5 pieces, so it's reasonable at 70 yen per piece. It was generously sprinkled with moist soybean flour, which was a delight for soybean flour lovers. The soybean flour was evenly spread on each dumpling, and I felt the gentle sweetness of soybean flour wherever I ate, making me happy. The dumplings were very soft and melted in my mouth. I thought 5 pieces might be too much for one person, but since the dumplings were small, I was able to eat them all easily. If you like sweet things, you could probably eat more than 5 pieces alone. I am very satisfied with this quality at this price. These are dumplings that I would like to eat again. Thank you for the meal!

East Osaka City is full of historical charm with remnants of old highways. One such place is Mikuriya, which is sometimes featured in difficult-to-read place name quizzes about Osaka. Surprisingly, there are several places across the country with the name "Mikuriya." Located in a narrow one-way street, Mikuriya Tomoya is a restaurant that might make you wonder if there could really be a shop in such a location. As you make your way to the restaurant, you will encounter a one-way street heading east. After passing the shop, you will find a parking lot on the right side. The only item sold here is the "Mikuriya Dango." The options available are 5 pieces for 350 yen, 10 pieces for 700 yen, and 15 pieces for 1,400 yen. Despite the larger quantity, it does not offer a better deal (1 piece = 70 yen). The dango is small, with a moist texture from the sweet kinako (soybean flour) coating. It also comes with extra kinako powder on the side. This treat is a must-try for kinako lovers. It pairs well with delicious green tea. Thank you for the meal ☆☆☆☆

I couldn't find the shop at first, but was told to go again with confidence. It's a must-visit place with a navigation system. After walking a bit from the nearby coin parking through a narrow alley, I found a flag that said "Mikuriya Dango"! I bought a pack of 20 dango for 1400 yen and shared them with my colleagues. The dango skewers were about 7cm long each and cost around 70 yen per piece. There were also packs of 10 dango and I believe they were available for individual purchase as well. The owner explained that they coat the dango with honey instead of sugar. The dango had a moist texture, with plenty of kinako powder coating, creating a perfect balance of nuttiness and sweetness. They were slightly smaller than the dango from Dango Sho in Kashihara, Nara, but unfortunately, I couldn't take a photo. I will definitely go back for a rematch, this time with my car's navigation system set! Thank you for the delicious treat.

Mikuriya Dango is a famous local specialty near the Gokuraku Temple in Higashi-Osaka. They offer a set of 10 dango for 700 yen. The dango are small, soft, and have a mild flavor. You can easily eat about 5 in one go. They also come with additional kinako powder for extra flavor. It's a great option for enjoying at home or as a souvenir. I really enjoyed them. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Located north of Kintetsu Kawachiosaka Station, this shop is situated after turning east into a side street from the intersection of Miko Sakaemachi. The shop was founded in 1988 by the previous owner, who had trained at a famous dumpling shop in Nara and was allowed to open the shop under the condition of absolute secrecy. The shop is housed in a renovated gate of an old-fashioned mansion quietly standing near Tenjin Shrine on the old road of Miko. Although the shop is compact, it exudes a charming atmosphere. The shop only sells "Miko Dango," which consists of five small dumplings on a long skewer with a diameter of about 1.5cm each. The dumplings are generously coated with flavorful kinako powder and come with extra kinako for sprinkling. The chewy texture and rich sweetness of the dumplings make them delicious. Miko Dango is a well-known specialty of Miko that is cherished by those in the know.

I stopped by to buy a set of 5 rice cakes as a gift for a friend. The rice cakes at this shop are delicious, with plenty of soybean flour and they are soft and easy to eat. If the salesperson was a little friendlier like a mom, it would be perfect haha. Thank you for the meal!

Head north on Prefectural Route 15 from the intersection of Mikoiecho at the Sangyo-doro Road for 200m, then turn right at the T-junction and continue 80m on the one-way street. The restaurant is located on the right side.
▼About the Shop▼
Established in 1988, this shop specializes in a type of rice dumpling called "Mikuriya Dango," which is made by renovating a part of the gate of an old mansion along the former highway. They only sell one type of rice dumpling under the name of Mikuriya Dango.
▼Menu▼
They offer Mikuriya Dango in sets of 5, 10, and 20.

In this box, you will find small-sized rice dumplings coated with kinako powder. The dumplings have a nice chewy texture and a pleasant flavor of kinako, with just the right amount of sweetness from black sugar. The balanced sweetness makes it easy to eat, and you might find yourself wanting to have more than just a few pieces.
▼Impressions▼
Located quietly along the old Anamidouge Nara Highway in the Mikoie area, this is a hidden gem of a dumpling shop. Although the shop has a traditional feel, it was actually established in 1988, so it's not that old. The shop's main product is Mikuriya Dango, and they offer them in sets of 5, 10, and 20. I had been curious about this shop for a while, and finally got a chance to try their dumplings. Despite the slightly tricky location on a one-way street, the dumplings were delicious and disappeared quickly when shared among us. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty they were, and I look forward to trying the 20-piece set next time.

I went alone on a weekday morning. Kinako-dusted dango, small and delicious. Even before eating, the scent of kinako is delightful. The dango is fluffy, soft, and very tender. The nutty aroma of kinako, the right amount of sweetness, and a hint of saltiness all come together to create a perfect balance of flavors. Since they are small, you can eat as many as you want. These are delicious. In the area around the Anagennara Kaido, where many old mansions remain, you will find the Gokuraku Tamaya nestled in a charming mansion that blends into the streetscape. In front of you is the Tenjin Shrine. Sweet treats are available at the gate. How about some kinako dango after your visit?

※Before refraining from going out, I visited a shop located in a narrow alley in a residential area. Established in the Showa era, the shop has a quaint temple-like appearance. On this day, I visited on my road bike as part of a cycling trip. I had previously visited and thought the food was delicious, so I wanted to come back again. It's a place that is hard to come by, but I finally made it. The generously sprinkled kinako (soybean flour) on the moist dango has an indescribable sweetness that is exquisite. It's really delicious! Thank you for the meal!

It's been a while since I had these. I was happy to be able to drive to the shop's entrance since it's not easily accessible by car. The small dumplings on a stick lined up in a row of five are adorable. The soybean flour and honey are moist and have a rich flavor - delicious! They're not too sweet, so you can keep eating them. They have a nostalgic taste and are gentle dumplings. It's a taste that you crave occasionally. They look cute, and they are neatly packaged in a box, making them perfect for souvenirs! Thank you for the meal.

In a charming corner of a traditional Japanese house, it has been operating for over 30 years. The soft kinako mochi reflects the kind and delicious personality of the female owner.

"I should not have fallen for such a fake imitation of colors like that..." The FC was amazed at their own shallowness in front of the firmly closed restaurant.-------------------------------<Visited in June 2016> I went to Mikuri Tomoya in Kawachiosaka for a late breakfast on a holiday. It was the time to finally settle the biggest assignment of this series, Mr. Sue △▲'s review. As I was feeling exhausted and drained, the steep and rough road felt even more challenging. Suddenly, I realized that my chain had fallen off. I had to get off my bike and fix it. Looking at my device, I saw that I had only climbed 1/5 of the total elevation. I thought about whether to continue climbing from there or go back down and start over. I decided to take it as a good opportunity and continued the descent. I found a quaint shop on an old street and decided to stop for some food. I ordered 5 skewered rice dumplings and asked if I could eat them there. The kind lady assured me that it was okay. The rice dumplings were soft and moist, coated with a generous amount of soybean flour. They were delicious, and I ended up asking for 3 more. After enjoying my meal, I left the shop feeling satisfied and continued my journey. It was a quick yet fulfilling experience. Thank you for the meal!

This is a shop I found on Tabelog. I was strongly attracted by the exterior photo of the shop and decided to visit. Oh, it's a dumpling shop. When you drive down the narrow one-way street, you will see a splendid white and gray walled mansion on your right. It is a place where they sell directly as soon as you enter. The atmosphere of the garden and the old house that can be seen from there, with a solid and calm unique air, is momentarily soothing. There is only one type of dumpling available, and they ask you to eat it on the same day. When you open the box, there is a good smell of soybean flour, and the dumplings are wrapped in moist soybean flour. They are surprisingly cute in size, you can eat 1 skewer in 2 bites. The dumplings are very soft and chewy. The sweetness of the soybean flour is not too heavy and lingers lightly. Mmm, this is delicious! I finished 10 skewers in no time! I definitely want to eat this again. When you are nearby, why not stop by and try it out? By the way, the opening hours are from 9:30 in the morning, and they seem to close around 2 o'clock, but sometimes they are open until 5 o'clock. It might be good to confirm by phone, and they can also hold items for you. Cute and delicious dumplings, highly recommended!

I've been curious about the dango shop "Gokuraku Tamaya" for a while now. The shop is located on a narrow path in an old house, in a quiet spot that's not very noticeable. This area has many grand old houses, giving it a nostalgic and charming atmosphere. There is a private parking lot just past the shop, where you can park. When you open the old-fashioned door with a creak, the sound might alert the staff (who are also the owners) inside the shop. I tried the "Mikuriya dango" for 70 yen, which had a moist and soft texture like wet rice flour dumplings. It was not too sweet, so I could enjoy it quite a bit. Thank you for the meal.

I purchased some delicious dumplings from a shop in Higashi-Osaka with great reviews from my reviewer. The road was narrow, making it difficult to park, but luckily I found a parking lot. The shop had a sign, but when I entered the old white-walled building, there was no one there. Just as I was about to call, the owner appeared and kindly asked if I wanted 5 dumplings. The kinako dumplings were similar to those from Dango Sho in Kashihara City, and also reminded me of another type from Toan in Otsu City. I considered getting some for my parents at a facility, but my wife advised against it due to the size of the dumplings. Thank you for the meal.

It's a quaint shop with a temple-like atmosphere, serving simple and delicious kinako dumplings. Located in a remote area between Nagata, Kawachiosaka, and Hachinori, the narrow street is difficult for cars to pass through, but it exudes a charming old-fashioned vibe. Upon entering the shop, you'll find a courtyard and a rustic counter on the left. The shop only sells kinako dumplings for 70 yen each, with no preservatives and a same-day expiration date. Despite its unassuming appearance, the dumplings are moist and flavorful, leaving a lasting impression. I bought five and they were gone in no time. This ordinary yet extraordinary treat is definitely worth a visit to experience its deliciousness firsthand!
