On a holiday at 1:00 pm, my family of three entered the restaurant. About 80% of the seats were taken, but we were seated at a 4-person table without waiting. We ordered the regular-sized pork bowl for 400 yen. There seemed to be a bit of a shortage of staff, with only one person in the kitchen and two male staff members who appeared to be part-time workers. However, the food took a long time to come out. It was the first time I had to wait 10 minutes for my order at a Sukiya restaurant. I'm not sure if it was due to a shortage of kitchen staff or if the timing of taking orders and delivering food by the staff was off, but they started clearing tables when the next customers arrived, so even when the call bell rang at each table, they would say "please wait a moment" and it would take over a minute to respond. There were also 3 to 4 groups waiting at the register. The pork bowl was my first time trying it, but I was so irritated that I couldn't even taste it properly. I didn't understand why the pork bowl was the same price as the beef bowl. Even at the time of payment, there was a line of 3 to 4 groups at the register. Both of the staff members prioritized preparing takeout orders. This will only make dining customers more frustrated.

I entered the restaurant around 12:30 on a holiday. There were 4 customers already seated. I ordered a regular beef bowl for 350 yen and it was served in about 1 minute. The beef was well seasoned with a sweet flavor and tender, but I found the rice a bit hard. Well, for this price, it's decent and the quick service is appreciated especially when you're short on time.

There is a restaurant located near the Yakino-ya intersection along Route 3. It is the only "Ajisen Ramen" in Fukuoka Prefecture. I had the grated ponzu beef bowl set meal in regular size (630 yen including tax). The beef bowl with grated ponzu sauce is refreshing and delicious. It goes well with rice. Among the menu items at "Sukiya," this might actually be my favorite. I think it's definitely the one I order most frequently. I recommend it. In the case of "Sukiya," when you order a set meal, the large rice serving is complimentary, which is nice. I have been to Sukiya in Ukiha, Kurume, and Kammaki in Fukuoka Prefecture quite often. Thank you for the meal!

Today I had to work overtime again, so I ended up getting hungry late at night. I decided to go to a Sukiya restaurant along Route 3 in Kurume for dinner. It had been a while since I last visited, as a new branch opened in Higashimachi. Looking at the menu, I ordered the Curry Pork Soup Set, which came with a large beef bowl and curry pork soup with an egg. It was a mistake. The flavors of the curry and pork soup clashed with each other. I even tried adding shichimi spice, but it only made it worse (laughs). The egg added a bit of fun to the dish, but overall, it was just okay (laughs). Despite that, I managed to finish the meal. I think I'll stick to just a simple beef bowl next time.

Hana-san Shokudo Kurume Branch Hana-san Shokudo Yame Branch continued here. I remembered they also had grilled mackerel set meal here, so I decided to come. Previously, I had the salmon breakfast here, and after ordering, it arrived in 20-30 seconds. The fish is grilled! The rice and miso soup are prepared and served. Everything else is pre-packed in containers and placed on a tray. It's a system that even one staff member can handle. The mackerel portion is a bit larger than Hana-san's, but the mackerel itself is small. However, there are no bones! Honestly, I had set my expectations low at first, but the mackerel turned out to be surprisingly delicious. Unfortunately, the rice is not tasty at all, which is a shame. When it's in a beef bowl, the taste of the rice is slightly masked. Still, considering the price and the fact that you can get this set, it's something to be grateful for.

This was my first time having breakfast at Sukiya. I ordered the "Gyudon with Egg Breakfast Set." It's a shame that you can't get a rice refill with the breakfast set at Sukiya. The breakfast time was not crowded, so I was able to relax and enjoy my meal.

I had plans in the evening, so I decided to have lunch early. I visited "Sukiya Kokubu Store." According to Wikipedia, Sukiya has 1,930 stores, the most in Japan, spread across 47 prefectures as a gyudon chain. I could have gone around 10:30, but I checked online and found out that they only serve breakfast menus until 11:00. I wasn't sure if I could still order a regular gyudon during that time, so I decided to visit at 11:00 just to be safe. The store is located along Route 3 and has a spacious parking lot. The interior has glass walls on the east and south sides, making it bright and airy. There are counter seats in an L-shape, and tables on the other side. I used a coupon to order a "Regular Gyudon with Extra Sauce (350 yen → 300 yen)." The food was served within a minute of ordering. It had a simple composition of beef and onions, with pickled ginger and shichimi pepper on the side. The taste was gentle and comforting, as expected. The value for money at this price point is impressive. The female staff who took my order was efficient and friendly, but the male staff member at the cashier didn't even say "thank you." During my meal, I noticed him giving instructions to other staff members, but perhaps due to COVID-19 protocols, they are instructed not to engage with customers. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the Mushroom Pepperoncino Gyudon and Clam Miso Soup set at Sukiya for lunch. The strong garlic flavor hit me hard, and now I regret it as I have a meeting with a company representative in the afternoon. (T . T)

The most popular Sukiya along Route 3 in Hachikenya, where we visited for the first time. It was a spacious seating area, especially for a Sukiya restaurant. We visited on a Saturday morning as a party of two. We ordered the Salmon and Egg Breakfast Bowl and the Gyudon with Clam Miso Soup, Salad Set, and Extra Raw Egg. However, I mistakenly ordered the wrong item, so when the food arrived, we had to eat two extra eggs that we didn't really need. The salmon was not crispy and had a slightly stale smell. The Gyudon was just average, even with the extra eggs. It was not the restaurant's fault, though. I managed to finish the meal by adding extra pickled ginger. I came to the restaurant specifically to see if their Gyudon spoon was suitable for assisted eating, as someone had recommended it to me. However, it turned out to be the same as the one I already had at home. It's a great spoon for scooping, with a narrow scoop that doesn't require you to open your mouth wide. The red color makes it easy to see. It seems that the restaurant relies on foreign customers during the early hours on weekends. The staff were diligent and sincere. Thank you for your hard work.

This is a shop I stopped by on my way to work. I wonder how many years it's been since I last visited Yoshinoya? They serve breakfast from the morning here. The shop is located along Route 3 with plenty of parking, making it convenient. Inside the shop, it's quite spacious with counter seats and table seats available. The morning menu starts from the 200 yen range to 300 yen range, which is incredibly cheap. I ordered the Natto Breakfast (280 yen). It was served in just 1-2 minutes after ordering, so fast! Well, there's no cooking involved, just assembling the set, I guess. It's interesting that they provide a special soy sauce for raw eggs. Getting rice, natto, miso soup, raw egg, and hijiki for 280 yen is definitely a good deal. Having breakfast at a place like this once in a while is nice. Thank you for the meal.

On a morning off, let's go for a drive! But first, let's grab some breakfast, so we stopped by this Sukiya. From 5:00 to 10:30 in the morning, you can enjoy their breakfast menu. It's a satisfying and affordable light breakfast option. My friend ordered the Natto Breakfast for 280 yen, and I got the Vanilla Ice Cream for 120 yen. I don't usually eat breakfast, so I just went with something simple. I didn't know Sukiya had ice cream on their menu! The pricing seemed a bit odd, with the ice cream being cheaper than the Natto Breakfast. The dishes arrived in a few minutes. The Natto Breakfast included rice, miso soup, egg, shredded dried fish, and natto. It's a hearty meal for those who enjoy it. The Vanilla Ice Cream was a small portion, but it was tasty. Sukiya offers more than just beef bowls, their breakfast is recommended too! (Including sweets) It was a satisfying meal.

Sukiya 200 yen breakfast After 9 am, sometimes it's nice to have a beef bowl for breakfast... When I entered the store, I saw a poster for a new release campaign for grated hamburger for 390 yen. I decided to order the grated hamburger since it seemed cheaper. When I looked at the staff member, Kichiro's face, he said that I could have it in a large portion for the same price. So, I ordered the large portion for 390 yen. The hamburger was delicious, similar to Joyful, and tasted even better with grated daikon and ponzu sauce. The large portion of rice was just the right amount, and I finished it quickly. I visited Beef Bowl King around 6 am to try their hidden menu item, Beef Bowl King for 950 yen with a warm egg for 50 yen, making it a total of 1000 yen. The regular beef bowl was 280 yen, and the prices were decreasing rapidly, but Beef Bowl King remained the same. Despite the lack of the old sense of value, the feeling of satisfaction after eating was still the same. It's perfect for relieving stress. Kichiro, the satisfaction center, occasionally needs to be satisfied... I had 1000 yen worth of Sukiya shareholder tickets that were valid until June, so I visited for lunch. I couldn't spend it all because it was too cheap. I took home a regular beef bowl for 280 yen and a grilled chicken bowl for 380 yen, which added up to just over 1000 yen. The Negi-tama bowl was delicious. I revisited in the evening and the place was full of customers. Sukiya was featured on TV in a late-night show recently, and I felt like eating a meat bowl. I ordered Beef Bowl King with a warm egg and green onions added as toppings. The quantity was a lot, but the taste was good and light, making it easy to eat. It was a Sukiya de NIGHT experience. In January, I revisited and used the last 1000 yen worth of shareholder tickets for the new year's greetings. Of course, Beef Bowl King is the best at Sukiya. I visited for lunch around 11 am, and there were quite a few customers. The cute staff warned me about the robbers targeting Sukiya, which made me laugh. It seems dangerous at night. It had been a while since I had Beef Bowl King, and this time the quantity seemed less. I finished it quickly in about 5 minutes. It came with a warm egg and cost just 1000 yen with the shareholder ticket. In December, I revisited and used the remaining shareholder ticket worth 1000 yen. I ordered the large pork bowl for 640 yen, salad and miso soup set for 160 yen, kimchi for 80 yen, and two warm eggs for 80 yen each, totaling 1000 yen. The large pork bowl didn't have as much pork as I expected, and the overall quantity was less, but the meat and sauce were delicious. When I checked the receipt after eating, I realized that the salad was missing, so I had to remind them. As always, nothing beats Beef Bowl King at 990 yen for me, even for my health's sake. In December, I revisited for lunch with the remaining shareholder ticket valid until December. I visited Curry King again and ordered the Curry King, which wasn't on the menu but was okay for 890 yen. Since I forgot my camera, I couldn't take a picture, so I ordered the Beef Bowl King for 990 yen with a warm egg for 60 yen. It had been a while since I had met my favorite, Beef Bowl King, and I was very happy. I finished it in 6 minutes. It was really delicious and has become my favorite menu item at Sukiya. In September, I revisited at 8 am with my Toy Poodle, Alice, for a drive and breakfast. Of course, dogs are not allowed inside, so Alice had to wait outside. I ordered my usual Beef Bowl King for my first breakfast. The staff was surprised when I said I wanted Beef Bowl King for breakfast. I finished it in less than 5 minutes. I scared myself with how quickly I ate it.

I like Yoshinoya's beef bowl and have been there many times. I always order the green onion beef bowl mini with miso soup set. The miso soup is big, so I have to get the beef bowl in mini size to fit it in. One day, when I went for lunch, they said they didn't have the green onion beef bowl. Was it a mistake in ordering? Last Sunday, I visited at 9 pm. I was really surprised that day. The inside of the restaurant looked like it had been hit by a typhoon. Normally there are only two staff members, but on a Sunday too? There was no time to clean up the tables, counter, or other spaces after customers finished eating... I've never seen such a sight before. On top of that, the orders for dine-in and takeout were piling up, and it looked really painful to watch. Are they short-staffed? Do they want to keep labor costs down? I don't know, but I hope they can at least have three staff members to help out. Even the customers noticed the timing of the bell ringing for service.

As I mentioned at the beginning, I don't think I can last until noon today. Well, I skipped breakfast, so it's no surprise. I entered the restaurant at 7:30. It's great that they are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Today, I finally tried the "Gyudon Natto Morning Set" (480 yen) that I missed last time. I opted for the large size at the same price. It's also nice that it's a non-smoking restaurant. The Gyudon comes with a separate plate of toppings, raw egg, pickled cabbage, and miso soup. The Gyudon itself is not too sweet and has onions in it. The meat was a bit tough, but that's part of its charm, I guess. If you want to take your time, Joyful would be a good choice, but if you're in a hurry, Sukiya might be better. In terms of food, Sukiya has a nice selection. If you're looking to get your vegetables in, Joyful might be the way to go. Thanks for the meal.

Last year (2022), I tried the "Hotto Motto" fast food chain once a month. This year (2023), I visited "Sukiya," a beef bowl chain operated by Zensho Holdings Group, for "Sukiya once a month." In March, I visited the Kurume Kokubu store. Sukiya's two main dishes are beef bowls and curry. The beef bowls include options like negi-tama beef bowl, three-cheese beef bowl, takana-mentaiko mayo beef bowl, wasabi-yama kake beef bowl, katsuobushi-okra beef bowl, and garlic fire beef bowl. The curry options include beef curry, cheesy curry, and ontama curry. They also offer pork belly grilled rice bowl, seafood bowl, chicken soboro bowl, hot pot set meal, set meal, mixed rice bowl, bacon and eggs, desserts, and a wide range of other menu items. The limited-time item during my visit was the spicy bean sprout beef bowl. I ordered a regular size to go. The spicy bean sprout beef bowl consisted of crispy bean sprouts, crunchy wood ear mushrooms, and pickled vegetables. The spiciness was moderate, but it had a numbing effect. It was a unique dish where they added spiciness to the sweet and savory beef bowl while focusing on different textures. This was my first time trying a beef bowl with such attention to texture. It was a limited-time item. The store was previously known as Kurume Chuo store. Thank you for the meal.
