After work until noon on Saturday. I heard some rumors about a popular melon bread shop in the Kanto region making its debut in Kyushu, so I decided to look it up and go buy some. "MELONLAB." Fukuoka Chihaya branch. It opened on October 29th under the elevated expressway of Urban Expressway No. 1 in Chihaya 1-chome, next to the Marukyo Chihaya store. While the shop is popular in various places in the Kanto region, this is its first store in Kyushu. It's located in a residential area, so I wonder why they chose this spot. The location where they opened this time used to be a bakery. When I entered the store, there were melon bread, sweet potato pie, apple pie, maple melon bread, and other items displayed in the showcase. Of course, I had to start with their flagship product, "that melon bread" (230 yen per piece, tax included). After purchasing it, I opened the package at home. Each melon bread was individually wrapped. I tried it. The outer layer is a crispy cookie dough, exactly as it should be for melon bread. The crispy texture and soft sweetness are just right. The inner dough is fluffy, chewy, and has a subtle sweetness. The contrast between the outer and inner layers is really good. When you take a bite, it emphasizes that contrast even more. I can see why it's popular in the Kanto region. If I have the chance, I'll try some of their other items besides "that melon bread."

Chihaya: "MELONLAB." I went to the melon bread shop "MELONLAB." located next to Marukyo along the urban expressway in Chihaya. It's a newly opened shop. It's not a common melon bread shop, they have various other items as well. The apple pie for 220 yen is not too sweet and the pie crust is really delicious. I like it. And their recommended melon bread for 230 yen is also good, not too expensive. The shop sells various flavors of melon bread and pies, including the famous "that melon bread". I bought three types of melon bread to take home. That melon bread costs 230 yen. It was delicious with a crispy exterior and a soft interior. Maple melon bread costs 280 yen. It has a sweet aroma of overflowing maple syrup. Chocolate melon bread costs 260 yen.
