During a weekday afternoon after work, I visited a new restaurant called "Nagahama Number One" in Meijima, which is a branch of the famous ramen chain. The head chef, who trained for 17 years at the original Nagahama location, has opened this new branch. I ordered the Chashu Ramen with a seasoned egg topping, opting for firm noodles. The soup had a nice punch of saltiness and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The chashu was tender and flavorful, and the seasoned egg was just right. I enjoyed the meal so much that I ordered an extra serving of noodles, which were also delicious. The whole experience reminded me of eating at a ramen stall, with quick service and a satisfying, straightforward taste. I might find myself craving this kind of simple and tasty ramen again in the future.

I visited at the end of August but found a notice of temporary closure, so I decided to come back for a second try. This restaurant has a website, so it would be nice if they could notify customers in advance of any closures. I feel like food establishments are a bit lax in that regard. I really like the rich flavor of the ramen at the Nagahama store, but the taste at the Hakata Station and Hakozaki stores seems different, so I haven't gone back to those. Is Nagahama number one a franchise or a directly operated store? I visited on a weekday in early September around 11 am. I confirmed that the store was open and parked at a nearby coin parking lot. The store is small with a counter seating for 7 and one table seat. There were 2 customers already seated and 2 more came in after me. There is a compact ticket machine at the entrance. I waited about 5 minutes for my ramen to arrive. Oh, it's a bit thin. The fried rice was brought a bit late and tasted like homemade fried rice. They didn't have pickled mustard greens, so I had to eat it as is. Thank you for the meal.

After finishing work, I decided to make a little detour for dinner. I remembered that there was a Nagahama Number One in Meishima, so I decided to visit for the first time. I have no memory of eating at the Gion store before, and it has been a long time since I visited the Hakozaki store, so this was practically my first time. There are two stores in Nagahama, "Ie 1" and "Ya," so I never had a reason to go there. I have been to "Inoichi," a shop run by a former Nagahama Number One employee closer to my home, a few times, but I wonder if this place is similar? I entered the restaurant and purchased a ticket for a ramen and half-fried rice set at the ticket machine near the entrance. I sat at the counter. The restaurant was about 70% full. The owner seemed very energetic. The ramen was served quickly. I took a sip of the soup... yes, it's definitely different from "Inoichi." This one has a slightly richer and well-balanced soup. Yes, this is delicious. I asked for the noodles to be firm, but I think regular would be more to my liking. And the half-fried rice, it was also very well-balanced and of high quality. It was delicious. The service was very good, and it seemed like a place loved by regular customers. I'm glad I can eat this near my home. If you get a parking certificate from a nearby coin parking lot before going to the restaurant, they will give you a service ticket, so don't forget to take it when you come by car. This is a ramen shop located at the intersection of Meijima 3-chome. I think it used to be an udon shop before. I visited this place for lunch on this day. You buy a meal ticket from the vending machine at the entrance and enter the shop. I purchased a ramen with boiled egg from the options available. The shop has raised table seating in the back, and customers mainly sit at the counter. You can help yourself to water and various condiments placed on the table. After a short wait, the boiled egg ramen for 830 yen was ready. The soup had a rich and delicious tonkotsu flavor, which I liked. The straight thin noodles I ordered were firm and had a smooth texture. The boiled egg was delicious as well. The char siu had a typical Hakata ramen flavor. It was the number one taste in previous years! This place was just recently opened so there is no need to line up at all, it may be a hidden gem. The taste is like the old good taste of the original store, more so than the current Nagahama main store.
