Sakura is a Japanese restaurant located inside the Global Arena, a comprehensive sports facility near Saruta Pass, which connects from Munakata City to Kurate Town via Prefectural Route 29. Today, I went there for lunch with friends. The restaurant has various seating options, including regular tables, a large hearth-style table, a tatami area for around 10 people, and a spacious sunken kotatsu-style table area. Although we were a group of 5 and thought we could be seated without a reservation in the latter area, we were directed to an 8-person sunken kotatsu table. We ordered the Steak Set for 1,500 yen, which turned out to be quite luxurious for the price. The set included steak, side dishes, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), miso soup, rice, and pickles. After the meal, we were served a tofu dessert and a choice of hot coffee, orange juice, or grape juice. Although rice refills were available, I had to pass as I had plans for tea at home later. The steak, eaten with ponzu sauce and grated daikon radish, was refreshing, and although the meat was a bit tough, it was delicious for someone like me who dislikes fatty cuts. The tofu dessert had a rich cream cheese flavor that I enjoyed, but I resisted buying it as a souvenir since I have another event coming up. After this satisfying lunch, I am curious about their dinner buffet. Perhaps I'll consider hosting my next gathering here.
