I thought about entering the shop and it turned out to be a small shop in a back alley in Tenjin. They have been doing takeout only for a long time, but recently started offering eat-in options. They don't sell drinks, so you have to buy them from a vending machine. The relaxed atmosphere was irresistible. The meat and burgers grilled over charcoal right in front of you were delicious!

On the first floor of an old mixed-use building, at the very back of a dim and narrow alley, you will find Frisco. Due to the impact of the coronavirus, they are currently offering takeout only. The menu consists of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and either a medium or large size of fries. They do not sell drinks. The patties and buns are grilled over charcoal upon ordering, so it takes about 15 minutes for the food to be ready. I ordered a cheeseburger (1200 yen) and a medium fries (400 yen). The cheeseburger had a slightly charred, smoky flavor. It is made with 100% beef without any fillers. The seasoning is simple, just salt and pepper. It includes thick-cut fresh vegetables and a hint of mustard. It is a simple burger that allows you to taste the natural deliciousness of the meat, but as someone who prefers rich and bold flavors in burgers, it wasn't quite my preference. I noticed from older reviews that there used to be pickles included, but I didn't see any in my order.

Popular hamburger restaurant in Fukuoka. It is located on the first floor of a building, but it is not facing the road, so it may be difficult to find. It is towards the back of the Hollywood Building. The building seems to have snack bars and izakayas, so it doesn't give off an atmosphere of a trendy hamburger joint. As a result, it was not a trendy hamburger joint, which was my own misconception (lol). It is more of a place where men dig into their burgers. Personally, I find that more approachable and welcoming. Their specialty is a patty made from 100% beef with no fillers. It is grilled slowly over charcoal. The thick patty feels like it's double the size of a regular hamburger chain. Biting into the thick, charcoal-flavored meat is the essence of a hamburger. They also offer double or triple meat options, so it is a recommended place for those who just want to sink their teeth into meat. Thank you for the meal.

On this day, I visited "Frisco" in Maizuru. It's about 8-9 minutes from Akasaka Station. Previously located in Shimokitazawa, this place is well-known among burger lovers. Due to the current situation, they are only offering takeout. I ordered the hamburger for 950 yen. The patty is made of 100% beef and charcoal-grilled, giving it a nice aroma. It also includes lettuce, onion, tomato, and mustard. The bun is nicely toasted, adding to the overall experience. After enjoying the burger at Nagahama Park, I made sure to clean up and dispose of the trash properly.

I had tried to visit this place several times during my trips to Fukuoka, but finally managed to find it. It was really hard to locate, but I saw someone waiting outside so I was able to find it. There was only one person waiting ahead of me, and when I entered, I was told that they were currently only offering takeout. I agreed and waited for about 15 minutes for my order to be ready. They asked me to eat it as soon as possible, so I moved to a nearby park to enjoy my meal. I could definitely taste the smoky flavor from the charcoal grilling. As others have mentioned, the taste of the meat and mustard is quite strong. Please note that as of November 1, 2020, they are only offering takeout.

It is quite difficult to find this place even if you look at the map and walk there. The shop is located on the first floor towards the back of an old mixed-use building, in a slightly dim area where the sun doesn't shine. Although the door is half open, there doesn't seem to be any business going on, and feeling anxious, I peek inside to see a man sitting alone at the counter. It reminds me of a secret detective agency that might appear in an old American novel, where work rarely comes in but when it does, it's always dangerous cases for the skilled detective. When I ask if they are open, I'm told they only do takeout, so I order a Cheeseburger (1,050 yen including tax). The menu consists of either a Hamburger (950 yen) or a Cheeseburger, and potato fries only. You can make it a double burger, but the basic choice is whether you want cheese or not. They take the order and then grill the burger on charcoal inside the shop. It's interesting to watch, and my expectations rise. I receive the finished burger, find a bench on the street, and start eating. The charcoal aroma is delightful, and the patty is substantial in size, with generous lettuce, tomato, and raw onion. The patty is cooked medium, leaving a juicy rare center. The seasoning is simple, with just salt, pepper, and mustard, but the charcoal flavor adds a nice touch. I felt that a more thorough cooking of the patty would make it even more delicious, and the raw onion was a bit too spicy on this day, making it a bit intense towards the end.

It's a restaurant I've always wanted to try. They are currently only offering takeout service and there was no outdoor sign. When asked if it was okay to only order a hamburger and fries without a drink, I ordered a cheeseburger and fries, and ate them in the car. When I took a bite, the charcoal aroma was impressive, with only salt and pepper on the patty and no sauce, except for mustard spread on the buns. The taste mainly came from the ingredients such as thickly sliced onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. The fries were delicious as usual, but to be honest, I had a mixed impression and I'm not sure if I want to eat there again.

[Top 100 Stores 2019 - Store #71] I had visited this shop a few times before but it was always closed. This time, I confirmed in advance that it was open and went there. It's about an 8-minute walk from Tenjin Station. The shop is located in a place where you might think, "Is it really here?" so be careful. I ordered the cheeseburger for 1050 yen. The atmosphere is quite retro, and I was a little confused if it was open or not. The menu is only displayed on the wall, and they offer sets, but they only had carbonated drinks, so I ordered just the burger. It was served in about 6 minutes. The unique feature of this place is that they grill the patty over charcoal. It has a strong charcoal smell, but surprisingly, it's not hot at all. I couldn't really taste the cheese, which was a bit disappointing. I realized that there is still much to explore in the world of hamburgers.

FRISCO, a renowned burger joint that used to be in Shimokitazawa, relocated to Fukuoka in 2011. Despite the sudden move, I was fortunate to visit the Shimokitazawa branch before it closed. The quality of the burgers remains top-notch even in Fukuoka. The Fukuoka location is a bit tricky to find, tucked away in a narrow alley about a 10-minute walk from the bustling Tenjin Station. The interior is cozy, with a central charcoal grill where the burgers are cooked. The menu is simple, offering only six burger options - hamburger, cheeseburger, double or triple, along with sides like fries and drinks. The burgers are delightfully simple, with just a lightly toasted bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, patty, cheese, and pickles. The simplicity of the ingredients allows the flavors to shine through, making for a delicious burger experience. When in Fukuoka, be sure to check out FRISCO for a truly exceptional burger.

Good evening. I am a beauty acupuncturist, Kozue. This time, I am in Fukuoka for work-related studies and I am taking the opportunity to visit hamburger restaurants in between. The one I visited this day was a shop called Frisco in Akasaka. The shop is a bit hidden in a narrow alley, and I hesitated for a moment if this was the right place. With a reputation of being one of the top 100 shops, I had high expectations, but looking at the interior and the restroom from a woman's perspective, I didn't feel like coming back just for that. This time, I ordered a set menu of hamburger, fries, and a drink for 1500 yen. The hamburger had a simple combination of patty, lettuce, tomato, and onion. There was no sauce, and the bun was spread with mustard, while the patty had a strong salty flavor. The patty was not like a hamburger, but more like ham, slightly larger in size. The meat was so lean that no juice came out, and it seemed like it was grilled over charcoal as the center was slightly pink. The tomato was thick and good, but the onion was also thick and had a raw taste with a strong bitterness, which seemed to disrupt the overall balance of the burger. The drink options were only cola and ginger ale. I ordered ginger ale, but it came in a can with a disposable plastic cup. When you squeeze the cup, it dents and almost spills, so you have to be careful when drinking, feeling like you're having a BBQ outside. There was no background music in the shop, only the sound of the owner listening to an English program or YouTube. This time, it was a memorable shop in a different way. Thank you for the meal.

Today I traveled to Fukuoka! I planned to visit Fukuoka and Karatsu in Saga, starting from Saga Airport, driving to Fukuoka, visiting two popular ramen shops, checking into the hotel, leaving the car, and starting a leisurely food tour. The third stop was at the highly rated gourmet burger restaurant "Frisco". "Frisco" was founded in 2005 in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, and relocated to the Tenjin area of Fukuoka in 2011. I had heard about this popular gourmet burger restaurant moving to Fukuoka, and I was curious to try it. The restaurant is located in a building with other tenants, and although it seemed a bit suspicious with the shutters closed, I was relieved to find it open. The interior is small and simple, with a prominent charcoal grill behind the counter. I ordered the set menu #4, which included a cheeseburger, fries, and a beer. The burger had a thick patty cooked over charcoal, giving it a delicious smoky flavor. The buns were slightly crispy on the outside and soft inside, complementing the flavorful patty. The cheddar cheese, onions, tomatoes, and lettuce added a nice balance of flavors and textures. The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and tasted great with ketchup. Overall, the burger was well-balanced and satisfying. The prices were reasonable for gourmet burgers. I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious burger cooked over charcoal and the classic flavors. I left the restaurant feeling more than satisfied.

Lunch on Sunday was at a restaurant in the area known for its good food. I went to "Frisko" because it was open on Sundays and the location was just right. I ordered a cheeseburger set, but when I asked for a double, they said they could only do a single. I'm not sure why. I didn't want to argue, so I just went with the single. The burger was simple but tasted authentic, cooked on a charcoal grill. At first, I couldn't find the restaurant even when I reached the entrance of the building. I thought such a famous restaurant would be more noticeable, but it was actually located at the back of the building, making it hard to find.

Fukuoka - A restaurant that was recommended by a cooking class teacher from a major food company since its opening, but I never had the chance to visit. On this day, the ramen shop I wanted to go to nearby was closed, so I remembered and decided to visit. The restaurant is located on the first floor of an eating establishment apartment, where the master is busy grilling hamburgers. Inside the restaurant, there were two foreign customers who seemed to be burger enthusiasts and a couple who looked like students. The menu only had hamburgers and cheeseburgers, with options for double or triple patties and sets with potatoes and drinks. I ordered the cheeseburger number 4 with a beer and potato set! The master grilled the hamburger carefully over charcoal while chatting with the foreign customers in English, creating a scene that felt like it wasn't in Japan. When I tried the hamburger that was finally ready, it was delicious as expected. The balance of buns, patty, and fresh vegetables was excellent. I now understand why there are fans coming all the way from Tokyo since the opening. Next time, I might challenge myself to try the double patty.

Hidden behind a discreet facade in Fukuoka, this place offers authentic charcoal-grilled hamburgers. Frisco (located in Daimyo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka) serves their hamburgers for 950 yen. Check out @maro.j.maro on Instagram for more food adventures.

When heading to another shop, I happened to walk past a quite muscular white guy with tattoos sitting in front of the restaurant, looking like he's waiting for something. I saw a sign next to him advertising hamburgers. I thought, "Oh, is this the place?" and searched it online. It turned out to be a burger joint that caught my interest. The owner seemed a bit eccentric, just as the reviews said, but I decided to pay a visit. The interior of the shop was extremely simple, with a counter, basic tables, and a menu written on a blackboard. There was no background music. The reviews mentioned that the owner is quite chatty, but today he seemed quiet, perhaps tired. He silently prepared the burger I ordered. As he worked, it was just him and me in the shop. In the quiet atmosphere, the only sound was the sizzle of the patty cooking on the charcoal grill. The burger that came out was simple, and when I took a bite, it was deliciously simple. The seasoning on the patty was just salt and pepper, but the simplicity allowed the natural flavor of the meat to shine through. Even though the burger was tasty, the ambiance was a bit awkward...haha.

The classic Frisco charcoal-grilled hamburger without the old-fashioned sauce, just with salt, pepper, and mustard, is great! Frisco is fine with that! Thick onions are also good. All the customers were from overseas.

Fukuoka City Chuo-ku Maizuru's hamburger shop, "FRISCO". On this day, it was a weekday but I was on summer vacation. I decided to go to Glory & Bar, a curry shop in Tenjin 2-chome, but to my surprise, it was gone and replaced by a Mongolian cuisine restaurant. So, I headed to Frisco, which was nearby. The restaurant is located towards the back of a mixed-use building, second from the last in the hallway. It's a bit hard to find. Upon entering, I found a few counter seats and a couple of small tables. It's a small place and not particularly clean or stylish. I sat at the counter and ordered a hamburger, fries, and drink set (tax included 1500 yen). The master molded the patty in front of me, seasoned it with salt and pepper, and started grilling it over charcoal. After a few minutes, the hamburger arrived. Underneath the bun, there was patty, onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. There wasn't much sauce or ketchup, just mustard spread on the bottom bun. It was delicious, with the meat's flavor coming through strongly. I didn't need the ketchup on the table, the default was perfect. I finished it all in no time. After the previous customer left, I ended up chatting with the master for about an hour. The master had lived in America for over 30 years starting from the late 1960s. The origin of Frisco's burger is the hamburgers from American households in the 1960s and 70s. Even now, about a third of the customers are foreigners (from America, Canada, etc.). They come from all over the country seeking this old-fashioned taste. It's a simple but delicious hamburger. I will definitely come back to Frisco! P.S. Well, the conversation with the master was endless, and I got to hear about the master's eventful life. I won't go into detail here, but it was so interesting that a whole book could be written about it. P.S. While I was engrossed in conversation with the master, three young white customers came in. When the master asked in Japanese if they could speak Japanese, they looked puzzled, so the conversation continued in English. Truly impressive. (laughs)

On a hot summer afternoon, I visited Frisco, a restaurant located about a 7-minute walk from Akasaka subway station, in search of a delicious hamburger. It is recommended to look for the sign at the front of the building as the restaurant is located in the back on the first floor. I arrived just after 11 am to avoid the busy lunch rush and was able to get a seat right away. The menu displayed on a board included options like "Hamburger," "Cheeseburger," "French Fries," "Beer," "Cola," and "Ginger Ale," as well as combo sets and double or triple burgers. On this day, I ordered the "Hamburger" and "French Fries." Upon tasting it, I was pleasantly surprised by the charcoal-grilled flavor. The taste and richness that spread in my mouth as I chewed were wonderful. The portions were generous, and I left very satisfied. The large, freshly fried French fries were just right in saltiness. By around noon, the counter and tables with about 5 seats each were full. The master, who was running the place alone, took a bit of time to serve, so it's best to avoid peak hours when it gets crowded.

Today, I felt like eating a delicious hamburger, and although Hungry Heaven is good, I wanted to try a new place. I arrived just after the opening, but managed to get in. There was no background music or stylish interior, just chairs and tables. The atmosphere seemed tense for some reason, with only the focus on the hamburgers. The owner was the only person working, and seemed apologetic for being busy. It took 30 minutes to place an order and another hour for the burger to arrive. The burger had no sauce, only salt and mustard for seasoning, with a strong meat flavor. The thick tomato and onion worked well together. Despite the delay, the owner seemed genuinely sorry. The owner was chatty and had a loud voice, creating a unique atmosphere in the restaurant. It may not have been the most comfortable place, but it was strangely intriguing. However, the limited drink options (beer, cola, ginger ale) made it tough for those wanting a non-sugary drink, especially in the summer. Overall, it was an interesting experience.
