It's a traditional Japanese sweets shop. They have items like ohagi and yomogi mochi displayed at the storefront. You can see the kitchen in the back where they are wrapping manju. Even as the area around the shop is changing and becoming more modern, it's nice to see these traditional shops still thriving. The manju I tried wasn't freshly made, but it still had a nice chewy texture. The yomogi mochi gets stronger in flavor and aroma over time, so I recommend not eating it too quickly.

The strawberry daifuku was 170 yen and the uguisu mochi was 100 yen, making most of the products seem quite reasonably priced. I had been passing by the shop for a while and was curious, so I finally decided to buy some for the first time this season. I have bought strawberry daifuku from various places before, but this one is freshly made, so the strawberries are fresher compared to those from supermarkets or convenience stores. The strawberries in this daifuku seemed to be quite large compared to the typical ones. As for the uguisu mochi, I haven't seen it around much lately, so it's been a while since I last had it. The mochi is shaped like a nightingale and sprinkled with uguisu powder, which is made from green soybeans and is different from matcha or mugwort powder. I heard that there are more shops selling mugwort powder products these days.

Located in Osaka's Ikuno Ward, Shoji, this is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop that embodies the charm of Osaka's downtown area. I happened to pass by this shop three years ago while working, and since then, I have occasionally visited my favorite Japanese confectionery shop, "Goseika Shokunin Asahido." The shop has a nostalgic and traditional appearance, with a green sunshade adding to its charm. Inside, the owner is busy making mochi. Throughout the year, they offer seasonal Japanese sweets such as red rice for 560 yen, yomogi dango for 90 yen, sakura mochi for 90 yen, ohagi for 90 yen, abekawa mochi for 70 yen, daifuku for 100 yen, sankasu for 100 yen, and a seasonal limited-time offer of strawberry daifuku for 170 yen. The prices are surprisingly reasonable compared to the mass-produced trehalose-filled Japanese sweets found in supermarkets nowadays. One highly recommended item is the "strawberry daifuku." It was introduced in the late Showa period as a new Japanese sweet. While some may consider it a bit unconventional, the fresh and tangy flavor of the strawberries enhances the gentle sweetness of the red bean paste, creating a harmonious blend with the chewy mochi. The refreshing taste of spring lingers in your mouth, making it a delightful treat. The shop's strawberry daifuku stands out for its large and flavorful strawberry pieces, well-balanced sweetness and acidity, and firm mochi texture. Another recommended item is the "abekawa mochi 5-piece pack for 350 yen," with a subtle and well-balanced coating of kinako powder. It doesn't overwhelm your senses with a large amount of kinako powder particles flying around when you eat it, making it a satisfying treat for those who enjoy the flavor of mochi as the main focus. Overall, the shop's offerings are delicious and reasonably priced, making it a must-visit for fans of Japanese sweets.

It's really delicious. The rice cakes themselves are delicious, so everything I eat is delicious and I can't stop.
