Today I had lunch at Yodoyabashi, and because it was hot, I went underground and discovered a restaurant called Munich. It looked spacious, so I decided to eat there. However, as soon as I entered, there was a lot of smoke, which made me feel uncomfortable. But the staff asked me if the smoke was bothering me and then guided me to a table away from the smokers. I ordered shrimp fry and cutlet, which were neither particularly good nor bad, but I didn't have to wait long, so I quickly finished eating and left. The restaurant seemed to have many regular customers and had a friendly atmosphere.

Today, I had a hard time finding a place for lunch because I had to work on Saturday. There were not many places open. I didn't want to go to the same place again, so I ended up at a beer restaurant called Munich. They have fried chicken too, but it's different from the Munich restaurant I usually go to. I confirmed that. The daily special was 850 yen. I wish they had pickles. It was a struggle to eat rice, but I managed. Thank you for the meal!

2023: Revisited Munich-san on a Saturday afternoon, as my intended restaurants were all closed. Opted for the yakisoba for a quick meal. The yakisoba dish alone costs 750 yen including tax. It was packed with plenty of vegetables, which was a pleasant surprise. While some places only offer cabbage and pork, this one had a variety of vegetables like carrots, onions, bell peppers, and cabbage, along with plenty of pickled ginger. Thanks to this, I made it in time for the Keihan train in the afternoon.

♪Salad with you, salad♪ (sung by Masaharu Fukuyama) From Yodoyabashi Station, you can walk through the underground passage to Yodoyabashi Building where "Munich" is located. They are famous for their fried chicken, but today I was looking for something light after eating too much for breakfast, and I found something called a salad lunch. ★Salad Lunch for 990 yen including tax♪ ◎Salad♪ Wow, a generous portion! The cold tomato is delicious along with lettuce, mizuna, purple onions, soft-boiled egg, diced cheese, and Caesar dressing.◎Soup, 2 slices of bread with butter♪ A menu that will make the ladies very happy. Connected directly from Yodoyabashi Station. Convenient shop located underground. Lunch from Munich, famous for their fried chicken. I didn't realize there was a place like this here! Upon entering the shop and placing an order, I immediately noticed a strong smell that made my nose sting. I thought it was oil, but it turned out to be a smoking-permitted establishment. My mistake... It must be heaven for smokers. There were mostly male office workers. I ordered the Service Lunch for 850 yen, which included shrimp fry, white fish fry, and pork ginger stir-fry. It was a generous portion! I would recommend this to young male smokers. Thank you for the meal!

A restaurant located in a building directly connected underground from Yodoyabashi Station. These kinds of restaurants are especially popular on rainy days. Due to a sudden heavy rain, there was a long line during lunchtime on this day. A while ago, I went to eat hamburg steak, but the restaurant was closed, so I couldn't have hamburg steak, and since then I've been craving it (lol). So, I decided to seek shelter from the rain and have lunch at this place. Without hesitation, I ordered the special A lunch set which came with hamburg steak, shrimp fry, pork cutlet, and ham as the main dishes, along with rice and miso soup. The hamburg steak and pork cutlet came with demi-glace sauce, while the shrimp fry came with tartar sauce. The main items were served on one plate with a side of Neapolitan pasta and cabbage salad. It was a Western-style lunch that I ate quickly with chopsticks. The unique feature was that it came with a bowl of miso soup. I finished eating the hot dishes very quickly. Why? Because this was a smoking-permitted establishment. Oh no, I couldn't breathe! I didn't realize they allowed smoking here (;_;) Nowadays, only non-smoking restaurants are common, so I didn't check before entering. Since I don't smoke at all, the smoky environment was tough for me. For those who smoke, this place is probably an oasis. I felt sorry for entering as a non-smoker. I think the food was delicious. Probably. It was also quite filling. Thank you for the meal. Next time, I'll make sure to go to a proper non-smoking restaurant. m(_ _)m

Eating out is fun and educational. I found out that there are three different series of beer halls in Kansai that are associated with Munich after reading reviews. The oldest one is "Beer Restaurant Munich" in Kyoto. The second one is "New Munich," which has a strong connection with Sapporo. The newest one is "Munich" by Hankyu Hanshin Laurel Foods. Today, I had the daily lunch special for 770 yen including tax. It included shrimp fry, fish fry, and ginger pork. The shrimp fry had a thick batter but was crispy and delicious. Overall, it was a decent lunch option for the business district, and the place was crowded with customers. The name "Munich" is a bit confusing, though.

Yodoyabashi ◇ Fried Oyster ◇ [3-cho, Kitahama, Chuo-ku]
Located on the right side of Tosabori Street along the Kyoto-Hanshin Yodoyabashi Building basement floor in Yodoyabashi, two streets east of the intersection. Yodoyabashi Station is directly connected. The restaurant, Munich Yodoyabashi Store, where you can have lunch from 11 am, offers about 20 lunch menu options, including seasonal limited lunches like the hearty pork miso soup set (900 yen) and the fried oyster set (900 yen).
At 11:12 on a weekday, with only one previous customer, we, a group of four, ordered the fried oyster. The dish was served in just 8 minutes, hot and freshly fried. The tartar sauce was slightly flavored mayonnaise. The meal came with side dishes like dried radish, rolled omelet, sautéed burdock, pickles, and even spaghetti. All tables had ashtrays, indicating smoking is allowed during lunchtime, although there were no smokers present. After a satisfying meal, we said, "Thank you for the meal."

I was excited to find out that there is a famous fried chicken place called "New Munich" for lunch on a regular day. I decided to go in and ordered the fried chicken set meal. However, the restaurant was actually called "Munich" and seemed to be a different place. The fried chicken was large, juicy, and very satisfying! I noticed that there were a lot of male customers in the restaurant.

Today I had lunch at Munich, a restaurant I had been wanting to try since April. The daily special was a set meal with pork cutlet and chicken karaage for 770 yen. The pork cutlet was thin and nicely shaped, while the shrimp fry was just okay. The karaage was small but delicious. I kind of regret not getting the karaage set meal instead. However, the meal came with unlimited rice and miso soup, and the portion size was generous for the price. The food was decent and the lunch was recommended. I had planned to visit the restaurant in April when the anti-passive smoking law would be in effect, but when I entered the restaurant, I was surprised to see people smoking during lunchtime. Despite the large size of the restaurant, there were ashtrays available, and I later found out that the restaurant was allowed to permit smoking as the seating area was less than 100 square meters. It was disappointing to see a restaurant with a good lunch deal but a smoking-friendly environment.

I will visit around 4 o'clock. The fried chicken is juicy and spicy, and goes well with alcohol. I also enjoyed pizza, edamame, and fried squid.

I was invited to "Munich" in Yodoyabashi to try their delicious chicken Karaage. It is a beer hall. I have never been to the ones in the Kanto region. They also sell chicken Karaage at Hankyu Department Store. I didn't realize it was that popular! The location is great, right in front of Keihan Yodoyabashi Station. I went with two other people. We started with a large draft beer to quench our thirst. We ordered the chicken Karaage made with young chicken for two people. The pieces were big and satisfying to eat! The menu says "Beer + Munich young chicken Karaage = a classic happiness!" We also ordered a variety of dishes like the four-bread pizza, a plate of five sausages, garlic shrimp, octopus carpaccio, and hamburger steak. I started craving rice. There were many snacks that go well with beer (of course!) which was great for a beer lover like me. I will definitely come back when I crave the "traditional dish" of chicken Karaage!

Today, I went from Kitahama to Namba via Yodoyabashi. In a hurry, I was looking for a restaurant where I could quickly grab a meal while walking through the underground shopping area heading west. I found a restaurant in the basement of a building near Yodoyabashi Station. It was a spacious beer restaurant chain. I was promptly guided by an elderly waitress. Without hesitation, I ordered the set lunch. It came with minced cutlet, shrimp fry, squid fry, pasta, and salad on a plate, along with miso soup and rice. All the fried items were perfectly crispy and delicious. I couldn't help but ask for a second serving of rice. It's a hidden gem of a beer restaurant in a secluded location, and next time I visit, I'll definitely try their beer.

Let's drink in Kitahama. As usual, I walked and walked to find a place to drink. I'm sweating and my throat is dry. I want to gulp down some delicious beer. I was looking for a place where I could drink good beer. Then, I saw that Munich place. The main branch of Munich has really tasty beer and their fried chicken is excellent. I thought fried chicken and beer would be a great combination. I went in and ordered a draft beer. But it wasn't poured properly and didn't taste good. It was strange. Then, the fried chicken arrived. I couldn't eat it. It seemed a bit off. This place doesn't have "New" in its name, so it must be completely unrelated to the real New Munich. I wish they wouldn't use confusing names.

Theme: About the restaurant I visited today
Today I revisited the same restaurant. Once again, my morning work ran late and all the lunch places were empty, creating a somewhat lonely atmosphere. I decided to go to Munich, the quickest option available.
Even though it was already 1:15 pm, they had a daily lunch special today. I asked, "What is the daily special?" and they replied, "Shrimp, squid, and pork cutlet fry." Since I don't fry food at home often, I decided on the fry option.
As usual, it was a typical fry set meal. But it came out quickly, making it convenient for lunch. I think it was around 680 yen. I wish they would include pickles for an extra 50 yen, because I'm Japanese... Thank you for the meal. I'll ask for your service again during busy lunches.
Today was a long day at the office, truly exhausting. The morning lecture ran late, and lunchtime was at 1 pm. By that time, all the restaurants were empty, but I chose this one because it was spacious and relaxing.
The lunch set menu mainly consisted of fried foods. The young people were ordering chicken fry set meals, but I chose the horse mackerel fry. Unfortunately, the photo is cut off, but it came with miso soup with seaweed for 750 yen.
The horse mackerel was crispy and delicious, but the side dishes were both bean dishes... I wish one of them was a leafy vegetable side dish. The middle side dish was a potato and bamboo shoot simmered dish. Overall, it was an average lunch. If you add a coffee, it will still be under 1000 yen, so the cost-performance ratio is good.
Just three more days until my day off... I just need to hang in there a little longer...

There are several restaurants lined up in the underground passage that leads out from the Keihan Electric Railway station. I pass through this passage every morning and evening on my way to the office. However, I have never entered any of the restaurants before because I never pass by during lunchtime. They are closed in the morning and I don't stop for a drink in the evening, so it's just a passage for me. On this day, I had some errands in the morning and happened to pass by during lunchtime. So, I decided to finally try out this restaurant that I had been wanting to visit. I have been to the main branch of this restaurant a few times. When I visited the main branch, I often ordered German beer, sausages, and crab claw tempura. Also, potato and chicken karaage were my go-to choices. I decided to go for the karaage at this restaurant after a long time. It came with a generous amount of freshly fried karaage. I dipped the karaage in a soy sauce-based sauce and it tasted just like before. It also came with tomato spaghetti and potato salad on the side. Considering the price, I felt like I got a good deal. I was satisfied.
