I think this is the first time I've had so many delicious sweet shrimp. I ordered two types of shrimp bowls. Hokkaido red shrimp and Hokkaijima shrimp. The two rows of shrimp neatly arranged on the bowl have their heads and tails removed... maybe to suck out the shrimp miso when eating the meat together... delicious! It's rich, sweet, and amazing! Both types of shrimp were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Seafood curry large size 950 yen (tax included). The color of the curry is slightly yellow. It had squid, octopus, baby scallops, etc. in it, and it does have a seafood flavor, but the curry flavor is missing? It's too sweet... Hmm? Even though it's curry, I don't feel like I'm eating curry. The curry here is a bit disappointing (crying). Self-service for water and return dishes to the counter. 3 customers, 3 staff members. We will follow the rules properly!

In this area, it seems that the most sweet shrimp are caught in Japan, so there are many restaurants serving seafood bowls. I tried a few other places, but there was a 30-minute wait, so I had to give up due to time constraints. As I was about to move on, I found a place with no wait, so I decided to go in. I understood that the sea urchin was already sold out, so I ordered a seafood bowl. I was expecting something around 2,500 yen, but the seafood bowl that arrived was a bit disappointing. The appearance, texture, and portion size were all a bit... disappointing.

It is unclear when it opened, but it seems to be operated by Marumoto Yamada Suisan Co., Ltd. Marumoto Yamada Suisan specializes in providing fresh and affordable seafood caught near Teuri Island and Yagishiri Island. Originally, they had a store on Teuri Island, but now they operate within Haboro-cho. The name "Ororon Shokudo" may be derived from the "Umi Garasu" bird, also known as the "Ororon bird" that inhabits Teuri Island. I found this restaurant while looking for a place to eat sweet shrimp. According to the official website of Haboro-cho, the town boasts the highest catch of sweet shrimp in Japan. Various restaurants in the area offer dishes like sweet shrimp bowl, Haboro sweet shrimp salt ramen, and a local specialty called "Haboro sweet shrimp and octopus dumplings" made with sweet shrimp and octopus, which is one of the top catches in Hokkaido. Hokkaido's sweet shrimp has been designated as a "Pride Fish" by the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperative Associations, and the peak season is from May to July. I visited Hokkaido in July, so it was the perfect time. On this Sunday, I arrived at the restaurant a little after 10 am, and there were only two customers ahead of me. I saw a menu item called "Raw Shrimp and Sea Urchin Bowl" in past reviews on Tabelog, and I wanted to try both sea urchin and sweet shrimp if possible, but unfortunately, they were out of sea urchin that day. So, I ordered the "Sweet Shrimp Bowl"! The Sweet Shrimp Bowl costs 2000 yen (tax included) and came with a whole fried flounder, which was a pleasant surprise. The sweet shrimp were slightly large, with a strong sweetness, rich flavor, a melt-in-your-mouth texture, and a firm, pudding-like elasticity. The flounder was cold, but the fins and bones were easy to chew, and the seasoning was just right, making it delicious. The miso soup also had shrimp in it, but it was a different type of shrimp, similar to mantis shrimp. The seasonal sweet shrimp were very delicious! Thank you for the meal!

Next to the Hanpoku Onsen Sunset Plaza, there is a cafeteria located right in front of the rose garden. The friendly older ladies welcomed us warmly and the service was excellent. We ordered the sweet shrimp bowl and sashimi set, which were served in about 5 minutes. The sweet shrimp bowl had 15 shrimp that were sweet and delicious. I was worried about the rice portion since it was a bowl, but it turned out to be just the right amount with a good balance between the shrimp and rice. The shrimp soup was fantastic, and I could see why some people were getting refills. The sweet shrimp bowl also came with deep-fried red rockfish, which had the perfect amount of salt. The sashimi set included tuna, sweet shrimp, and vinegar-cured herring, which was surprisingly delicious. This was my first time trying vinegar-cured herring, and it was really good.

Last month, I couldn't visit Bentenjima due to ferry cancellations, so I decided to head to Haboro first for a rematch. The weather was nice, but the waves were high and once again, the ferry was cancelled. Feeling disappointed, I decided to at least enjoy some food, so I went to this restaurant to try the local specialty, "Sweet Shrimp Bowl". Although I was tempted by other sashimi set meals, I stayed true to my initial plan and ordered the Sweet Shrimp Bowl for 2000 yen. It arrived promptly, with a generous amount of sweet shrimp piled on top of the rice, along with fried flounder, sweet shrimp miso soup, and pickled vegetables. The sweet shrimp was fresh and delicious, with no unpleasant smell, and had a nice firm texture. As a luxurious treat, I also enjoyed the fried flounder. Before I knew it, I had finished every last bite. Now it's time to head back to Sapporo... Thank you for the delicious meal!

Visit date August 23rd (Sunday) Asahikawa has been hot for several days in a row, and today is another clear day from the morning! To relieve stress, I decided to take a ride on my motorcycle (^^♪ I passed through Rumoi and raced all the way to Haboro town, arriving around noon. Since I'm in Haboro, I must have some seafood, right? Let's search on Tabelog... I visited "Nishi no Nishin-ya" about 2 years ago, so today I will try "Ororon Shokudo". The parking lot in front of the restaurant is quite spacious, but it was almost full ('Д') They suggested a raised tatami seating area if that's okay, so I reluctantly agreed. Now, I ordered a seafood bowl, and decided to splurge a bit by adding sea urchin as an option ( `ー´)ノ After waiting for 15 minutes, a large fish fry was served alongside the bowl (^^;) Did I order incorrectly? Apparently, the menu includes a side dish with the bowl, and the fish fry seems to be that side dish (/ω\) Looking at the seafood bowl, it had 8 sweet shrimp (including 2 boiled), octopus, white fish (Mebaru?), salmon, and the optional sea urchin and salmon roe. The cost-performance ratio was terrible, and the fried flounder was unnecessary for me (^^;) Feeling disappointed, I decided to return via Kirifuri Pass and ended my solo touring with a soak in the hot springs in Horokanai!

I arrived at this place and decided to try it out. There were plenty of sweet shrimp, which was satisfying, but the freshness may have been lacking for seafood. However, the fried flounder was also included, which was satisfying. It was a good memory of the trip, thank you.

I used my day off from work to take a drive to Haboro Town. I bought some sweet shrimp at the fisherman's cooperative direct sales store and then went to Oro Ron restaurant. I arrived at 11:00 and there were 3 customers ahead of me. It was a good decision to avoid the long weekend from the previous week. If you want to eat sea urchin donburi, you don't have to come all the way to Haboro, you can eat it in Wakkanai as well. I sat at a 4-person table in the corner of the restaurant and ordered a sea urchin donburi for ¥2,800. It arrived in about 5 minutes. The sea urchin was Murasaki Uni. It came with deep-fried sand dab, pickles, and sweet shrimp miso soup. The sweet shrimp miso soup was delicious with a strong shrimp flavor. The deep-fried sand dab was also decent. Now, the main dish, the sea urchin donburi. It was rich in flavor with plenty of Murasaki Uni, making the rice very enjoyable! It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I went there around noon on July 26th (Sunday). I had a mini sweet shrimp bowl for breakfast at the ferry terminal in the morning, then explored the remains of the old Haboro coal mine in Haboro town, and returned to the town around 11 am. I thought it might not be crowded at this time, so I decided to have an early lunch. When I arrived at the restaurant, even though it was the last day of the long weekend on Sunday, the spacious restaurant was empty. I chose the "Shrimp and Octopus Bowl" as the sea urchin bowl I was looking forward to was not available. It cost exactly ¥2000 including tax. The portion that arrived in about 5 minutes looked disappointing at first glance! The amount of octopus I was expecting was too little, and the sweet shrimp still had the troublesome head and tail attached, which needed to be removed before eating. I had to wash my hands after removing the head and tail before eating. The amount of rice was also small, so adding the sweet shrimp I had prepared made it look somewhat presentable. The freshness of the sweet shrimp was good as expected, but the octopus was lacking in quantity and overall was just okay, considering the price. The side white fish fry was also lacking, and the balance with the rice was not great. I wished for a better balance in the bowl. It felt like the restaurant assumed I would eat the leftover rice without the white fish as a side dish from the beginning. Overall, the satisfaction level was not high, and it turned out to be a disappointing lunch experience.

I visited the restaurant on June 8th. The place was not crowded probably because it was before noon. I noticed the sweet shrimp ramen and decided to try it. The soup was clear with a light salt flavor, making it easy to eat. The town of Haboro where the restaurant is located is known for its sweet shrimp, so there were many other menu items using fresh seafood.

This is Ororon Shokudo. The parking lot is spacious and the interior of the restaurant is also large. I ordered the Sweet Shrimp Set Meal for 1600 yen. Normally, sweet shrimp is just a side dish for sashimi or seafood bowls. But here, it takes the spotlight. The key to enjoying it is how you peel the shrimp. If you skillfully pinch the tail, the meat comes out cleanly and can be eaten easily. This is what makes it delicious. Peel it skillfully and eat it right away. I've never had so much delicious sweet shrimp before. The sashimi is also delicious. Hokkaido truly lives up to its reputation with its abundance of seafood. There are many other menu options, but I might go for the sweet shrimp again. It was a satisfying set meal.

I always stop by here every year during Obon. There are several restaurants in the town that offer sweet shrimp bowls, but this one has the most lively atmosphere. The sweet shrimp is served with the heads on, making it fun to suck out the miso. The fried flounder is also delicious.

The best sweet shrimp in Japan! In Orofure Pass, there is a famous sweet shrimp dish at the Orofure Road Station's Orofuren Shokudo. During lunchtime, it feels like a traditional diner, and the seasonal sweet shrimp is firm, sweet, and delicious! You can't go wrong with the seasonal specialty!
