When it comes to Horie in Osaka, it is an area where stylish shops for interior, furniture, fashion, and more line up. I visited this area several times when I lived in Osaka. This time, the hotel I stayed at was relatively close to Horie, so I decided to go to an izakaya located in the northern part of Horie. This izakaya is run by a company called SASAYA Holdings. The reason I wanted to go here was, of course, because I wanted to eat Osaka's flour-based dishes after a long time. Also, I heard that they serve oden with asari clam broth. It is located near the Yotsubashi toll booth on the Hanshin Expressway, and it is also very close to Yotsubashi Station on the subway. The exterior has a traditional izakaya atmosphere. The business hours are until 4 am! It seems like they have returned to normal after the declaration was lifted. When I entered the restaurant, it felt like it was renovated from an old folk house. There were also loft seats available. Since it was my first time and there were two of us, we decided to follow the basic ordering method. First, we ordered draft beer. The appetizer was quail eggs. Is it oden? It's a rare appetizer. And then, the "Oden Assortment (1,386 yen)". At first, we tried to order two, but the staff advised us that one would be enough because the portion was large, and they were right. It included homemade fish paste, beef tendon, shundaidaikon, konjac, and plenty of asari clams. The asari clam broth is added in a large amount as a base for oden. It was delicious. The "Salted Cucumber (418 yen)" is a good side dish for alcohol. The "Mizutako Ponzu (748 yen)" was recommended in the way to enjoy the restaurant. Large octopus pieces were used. The suction cups were large. Sometimes when you order octopus, you may get ones that are tough and hard to chew, but this one was not like that and had a good texture. For the finale, we had takoyaki, of course. We ordered the recommended "Salt" and "Broth". The "Salt" was a homemade yuzu salt, which allowed us to enjoy the refreshing taste of takoyaki. The "Broth" was takoyaki eaten with oden broth, and the asari clam broth did a great job. Unfortunately, we didn't order the asari clam rice bowl that was mentioned in the way to enjoy the restaurant because we were getting full. The alcohol we ordered after the draft beer was the "Mega Highball (858 yen)" and the "Dewar's Highball (550 yen)". After eating and drinking all of the above, it cost around 4,200 yen per person. It was a decent cost performance. There were many other recommended menu items besides oden and takoyaki that we couldn't try this time, which was a shame. Thank you for the meal. The blog post is here.
