On June 29-30, 2022, I stayed at the hotel with a discounted rate from the official website. I chose to have breakfast at "Joyfull" and selected the "Seven Kinds of Japanese Breakfast" which includes bacon and eggs, sausage, shredded cabbage, grilled fish, grated radish, and shiso. I also wanted to enjoy the welcome service at the on-site "Shi-san Udon" with a choice of a glass of draft beer or a botamochi, but unfortunately, I couldn't take the botamochi to go. It seems like it's more suitable to enjoy the service with a light meal of oden and beer after check-in or dinner. I remembered "Joyfull" from a trip to Yamaguchi Prefecture about 20 years ago, and found out that it is actually based in Oita, with a history of being a subsidiary of Kamenoi Hotel. The fact that "Hotel AZ" was formerly known as "Kamenoi Hotel" made me realize that this combination was not just a coincidence.
