On my first visit, I was feeling the heat on the way to Dotonbori, so I decided to stop by this restaurant. I ordered a draft beer and various skewers. The "excellent beef cutlet" was recommended, but personally, I think the pickled ginger was the MVP! Enjoyed skewers and beer for lunch, indulging in luxury. Thank you for the meal!

After seeing Himeji Castle for the first time, I moved to Osaka and headed straight to Namba, the busiest district in Osaka. I was looking for a famous Osaka-style deep-fried skewer restaurant and came across Kushikatsu Sakura, so I entered without hesitation. First, I ordered a bottle of beer (Akahoshi) and cold tofu. Next, I tried Doteyaki. It was delicious! Then, I ordered a mixed skewer set. It included lotus root, onions, quail eggs, various meats like beef and pork, but the jumbo juicy shrimp was especially delicious. I was completely satisfied. I had high expectations for the rice flour coating, but was disappointed. I ordered a variety of items, and while the prices were slightly higher than a typical kushikatsu restaurant, the taste was just average. I had imagined the coating to be softer, but it was actually very hard and crunchy, which ended up hurting my mouth. I wonder if this place mainly caters to tourists. Overall, I was disappointed because my expectations were high.

I visited this restaurant during my trip to Osaka and it was delicious! It was written that they fry with rice flour, so I went expecting not to feel bloated, and I didn't at all. Everything was delicious, the menu names were interesting, and it was fun to choose!

During the pandemic, I was surprised to find that the tool shop that used to be there had turned into a ramen restaurant without me realizing it. The location has improved, but I feel like the taste has definitely declined. It's a shame. I used to rely on it because Namba doesn't seem to have any kushikatsu places.

They use rice flour and vegetable oil to fry, making the kushikatsu light and healthy. We visited with 2 people for lunch on a Saturday afternoon after 2 PM during our Osaka sightseeing trip. There were about 2 groups waiting in line, and we waited for about 30 minutes to enter. The first floor has counter seats, and the second floor has table and tatami seats, and we were seated on the second floor. 【Food】 - Plump shrimp - Chicken and shiso roll - Plum and lotus root - Shiitake mushroom - Scallop sashimi - Cucumber (Free cabbage) 【Impressions】Considering the possibility of more food adventures after this, we decided to go for a lighter option. We ordered the cucumber to come out quickly as frying takes time. The crunchy texture of the generously cut cucumber was great. The cabbage is free, but it won't be served unless you order it, so be aware of that. The freshly fried kushikatsu had a thin and crispy coating! When it comes to Osaka's kushikatsu, "Daruma" is well-known, but their style is more like fritters, while this place's coating is closer to regular fried food. If you're not sitting at the counter, it seems like you have to pour the sauce from a bottle. No need to worry about double dipping. The vegetable kushikatsu, especially the lotus root and shiitake mushroom, were delicious. The shrimp was plump and juicy. After eating, I noticed that they had tartar sauce (100 yen) on the menu... I almost ordered more meat or cheese after finishing everything in one go, but I managed to resist the temptation. Since we ate lightly, we were able to continue enjoying our Osaka sightseeing without feeling heavy or bloated after the meal. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I felt like eating pork cutlet skewers and went to have some! The batter was thin and crispy, easy to eat in one bite. Each skewer was quite big. The tulip skewer was incredibly delicious, my favorite. The cheese skewer is also recommended! It was a cheap and tasty gourmet experience! I will definitely go back again ❤️

A group went to Kansai to enjoy some local gourmet food. For dinner, they had kushikatsu, which is deep-fried skewers coated in rice flour. They ordered a popular assortment of skewers up to 8th place on the ranking list. They were all delicious, but the quail egg skewer was particularly impressive with its soft, half-cooked texture. They also tried additional skewers like asparagus, scallop, shishamo, and pickled ginger, all of which were tasty. There was a menu item called "komochi konnyaku" that they were unfamiliar with and too scared to try. They regretted not ordering it and wondered what it was. Overall, they had a great time enjoying the kushikatsu and beer at Kushikatsu Sakura.

Kushikatsu is definitely best in Namba. This place is popular. The staff are very quiet. They communicate minimally and quietly. The kushikatsu has a thin and crispy coating. The sauce is delicious, but when you try it with the "homemade spicy chili oil" (110 yen), it adds a nice change of flavor. Just the chili oil alone makes the drinks go down smoothly. The free cabbage is fresh and big! This is a place that makes you want to come back again. Thank you for the meal.

I decided to eat tonkatsu and entered a place I passed by. The counter was quite small. Looking at the menu, there were regular beef cutlets, a slightly better quality meat option, and it seemed fun to compare them. I ordered a few pieces of meat, along with the usual lotus root and pickles. I also got some Camembert cheese. It may seem obvious, but the tastier meat didn't have any particularly unique aspects, haha. The staff and the atmosphere inside the restaurant lacked energy, I felt like something was missing, I wanted a little more excitement.

My friends from Tokyo and I came here looking for something Osaka-like. We decided on kushikatsu and day drinking. Since it was the end of the year, we couldn't make a reservation. We arrived at 1:30 pm and were finally seated at 2:30 pm. The restaurant has 50 seats spread across three floors. It seemed like there is a 120-minute time limit during busy times. Kushikatsu Sakura fries their skewers with rice flour, so it's light and doesn't leave you feeling heavy. If you're unsure, I recommend trying their top 1-10 skewers. The special Kimura-kun skewer was especially delicious! It's Instagram-worthy and highly recommended. It was nice to visit a popular kushikatsu restaurant and enjoy a delicious meal without feeling greasy. We were a group of four that day, and the bill ended up being quite funny due to the heavy drinkers among us.

I was taken to a place in Osaka known for its incredibly crispy tonkatsu. They use rice flour, which is the key apparently. It was the most delicious tonkatsu I've ever had! Each piece was delicious, and you could tell they really care about the ingredients they use. Highly recommended! Thank you for the meal.

I inquired over the phone to see if the vegetable skewers were suitable for vegetarians, and I was told that the batter and sauce are made without eggs, meat, or fish, using only vegetables and fruits! I was glad to be able to enjoy a popular dish from Osaka. However, please note that this is a rice flour kushikatsu restaurant, and they do use some wheat, so it is not gluten-free.

There used to be a shop called "道具屋筋" before, but it seems like they have relocated. The staff members are mostly foreigners. It's disappointing that the only side menu options are "土手焼き" and cucumbers. I ordered a variety of skewered cutlets, but the cabbage was not good. The cutlets were fried too much, not crispy but rather hard. The pickled ginger tasted like a snack. The asparagus was thin and lacked sweetness. It's not that it tasted bad, just that it was fried too much. Maybe people who like this texture would enjoy it. I personally preferred the taste of the previous location, so I find it a bit disappointing. The prices are generally cheap.

I went to a kushikatsu restaurant at Takashimaya in Namba for lunch, but there was a wait of over 1 hour and 30 minutes. So, I decided to try Kushikatsu Sakura nearby in the shopping street. The restaurant is small and easy to miss if you're not paying attention. Their cheese kushikatsu is recommended for women and children. It's a good value for money and you can try a variety of kushikatsu without waiting in line. Next time I want kushikatsu, I'll go here instead of the one at Takashimaya.

I visited this restaurant near Namba Station that I had been curious about on the last day of the three-day weekend around 12 o'clock, and I was just able to get a seat on the second floor. It was lunchtime, so I ordered some alcohol, doteni (simmered beef tendons), and several kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers). The doteni and kushikatsu arrived without much wait. There was a note saying, "The mozzarella cheese skewer and rice cake skewer will harden if they get cold, so please enjoy them promptly," so I quickly enjoyed these two items. I also ordered the egg over rice and out of curiosity, the baumkuchen skewer that caught my eye in the photos on the wall. I thought there was green onion on the egg over rice at first, but it turned out to be seasoned seaweed. The seaweed is already flavored and the rich egg makes it delicious as it is, but you can change the taste by adding white soy sauce on the table if you get tired of the flavor. I highly recommend trying it if you're unsure about what to order next. The baumkuchen skewer arrived with a face drawn in chocolate, which was so cute and heartwarming. The taste was not too sweet as I expected, and the chocolate added a nice accent making it very delicious. It's no surprise it's in the top 10 best-selling ranking. In the end, with two drinks, a mix juice, doteni, about 6 kushikatsu, and the egg over rice, it cost around 3,500 yen per person. It may be a bit pricey for lunch, but considering having two drinks, the cost performance is good, isn't it? They also took care of my carry-on suitcase by keeping it at the first-floor seat, which was very kind. The alcohol seemed a bit weak, but I will definitely visit again when I come back to Osaka. (I want to eat again next time) Personal recommendations: Special doteni, mozzarella cheese, plump shrimp, pork, baumkuchen skewer, egg over rice, mix juice.

The batter made of bread crumbs seems to absorb less oil, making it relatively light. They have a variety of meat, fish, and vegetable options, so you can eat what you want. The most delicious dish was the "Kimura-kun," a pork skewer with kimchi and chili oil. The dessert skewer with chocolate banana was also quite delicious. Enjoy it with a mixed juice for dessert.

I jumped in just before the last order and only ordered the menus that caught my eye. While waiting for the skewers, the grilled dishes I ordered were also delicious. The number one popular shrimp was plump like a shrimp fry. The mozzarella cheese melted nicely with a good balance, and the Kimura was topped with kimchi and spicy oil on pork. The garlic pork had a strong garlic flavor, and the chicken breast with plum and shiso had a good balance and was delicious. I want to take more time next time. A restaurant I want to revisit.

The owner trained at a high-end kushikatsu restaurant in Shinchi, so you can enjoy high-end kushikatsu from Shinchi at Nankai Street prices. Everything is delicious, but personally, I recommend the soft-boiled quail eggs! Tourists may head to a famous restaurant in Shinsekai, but I also highly recommend visiting this place! This kushikatsu restaurant, "Kushikatsu Sakura," is known for using rice flour and vegetable oil to make kushikatsu that is gentle on the stomach. We tried various kushikatsu skewers such as onions, lotus roots, potatoes, seafood like squid, scallops, shishamo, as well as kid-friendly options like tulips and sausages.
