I ordered the "Kodawari Oyakodon" for 977 yen including tax. The green onions added a nice touch to the dish. It was fun to crush the egg yolk, pour on the sauce, and change the flavor. The restaurant has tables for 2 and 4 people, as well as a counter. I sat at the counter, which is right next to the kitchen, so the air conditioning wasn't very effective. It was extremely hot after eating the rice, and I immediately started sweating. It would be better if they could make the air conditioning cooler so that I could focus on eating.

I had lunch at Hachikoan inside Shin-Osaka Station. It was just before 12 o'clock and the place was not yet full. I sat at the counter and had a parent and child rice bowl along with a mini duck Nanba set. The egg was nice and runny, with just the right amount of rice. It was a perfect combination with the udon set.

Second visit. The egg on the katsudon was perfectly half-cooked. The flavor was also great with a strong dashi taste, which I really liked. The duck nanba was delicious too, but the green onions had a slightly crunchy texture, so I personally think it would be even better if they were a bit softer.

"Set meal of oyakodon and mini duck nanba. The egg yolk was a nice touch. The choice of noodles may vary depending on personal preference. I personally love the sweet broth in oyakodon. It looks great with the egg yolk. Thank you for the meal. #Oyakodon #Hachiokian #DuckNanba #Shin-Osaka #Lunch"

"Chicken tempura curry udon. The curry udon sauce is delicious, and the chicken tempura is really big! I was satisfied with this chicken tempura. The portion size is quite generous. The noodles are thin, so it may be a matter of preference. Since it's curry udon, thicker noodles might be okay."

I had the Chicken Cutlet Donburi and Mini Duck Namba Set. The chicken cutlet in the donburi was thicker than expected and very delicious. The egg was not as creamy as I would have liked, a bit too gooey for my taste. The duck namba was packed with green onions and the duck meat had a rich broth flavor, very tasty. The duck namba was a half-size portion. The total cost for this set was over 1,700 yen. In my opinion, it felt about 500 yen overpriced.

I had dinner at Hakkian before boarding the Shinkansen! I had the Chicken Tempura Curry Udon for ¥1197. The freshly fried crispy chicken tempura was delicious. The udon noodles were soft and thin, which I liked since I'm not a fan of thick noodles. The curry was on the watery side and quite spicy. I found out later that their famous dish is the Oyakodon, so I kind of wished I had ordered that instead. But the curry udon was also delicious, so I have no regrets. Thank you for the meal!

In mid-April, I had a business trip to Osaka and arrived at Shin-Osaka Station by Shinkansen just after 1 pm. I decided to have lunch within the station and chose "Hasshoan Arde Shin-Osaka" based on Tabelog reviews, which had an unreliable rating of 3.22 (as of 7/25). I ordered the parent and child bowl and the mini duck Nanba set for 1,637 yen. The duck Nanba had thin udon noodles with delicious duck broth and a satisfying texture of duck meat. It also had plenty of Kujo green onions, which was a nice touch. The parent and child bowl had a soft and fluffy egg, generous chicken pieces, and a slightly sweet broth, which I also enjoyed. The portions were satisfying, and I was full for the afternoon work. I will definitely visit this place again.

I had chicken katsu don. It comes with miso soup and pickles. The katsu is covered with a runny egg. The meat is tender and the coating, softened by the egg, still has a nice crunch. It was delicious.

I decided to have lunch at "Hachigaian" in Shin-Osaka Station before boarding the Shinkansen. I ordered the "Duck Nanba and Tamago Kake Gohan" for ¥1,527. The duck was delicious and had no unpleasant smell. The udon had plenty of Kujo green onions on top. The broth started off mild but gradually became richer as the duck fat melted. Even though I have high blood pressure, I couldn't resist drinking it all (laughs). The "Tamago Kake Gohan" had a beautiful yellow yolk that whetted my appetite. The soy sauce broth was already poured on top before it arrived, and the portion seemed just right in a small bowl. Black shichimi pepper and sansho pepper were placed on the table, adding a Kyoto touch. The restaurant had charging facilities at every table, which was quite modern. "Hachigaian" seems to be expanding its business as I see it popping up in various locations lately.

This is a restaurant located under the Shinkansen at Shin-Osaka Station called "Arde Shin-Osaka," specializing in Oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) dishes.
■■■ Restaurant ■■■
This street is always crowded, but not as much as okonomiyaki or 551 on weekdays before 12 o'clock. There are hardly any lines. There are tables right at the entrance and also further inside. The narrow aisle has small tables for two people lined up. The customers are mostly salarymen, but there are also many foreigners.
■■■ Food ■■■
The menu includes Oyakodon, Chicken Cutlet Don, and "Kamo Namba," which is like udon noodles. Prices range from 867 yen for a bowl to over 1500 yen for a set, making it quite expensive.
▼ Special Features
Oyakodon for 977 yen (888 yen + tax) (as of March 23)
It's too expensive for a salaryman's lunch (laughs), so I ordered it as a single item. It has plenty of egg and chicken. The seasoning is on the sweeter side. The broth is good and delicious. It's a bit soupy. The rice texture goes well with the ingredients. With this amount of toppings, you could still eat more rice! But I wonder if they don't offer extra servings on the menu...
○ Other
The miso soup has a refined taste and is delicious. It's not too strong and has a good dashi flavor.
■■■ Conclusion ■■■
It's delicious but a bit on the smaller side and pricier. So, I recommend it to slightly older travelers. Thank you for the meal.

I came here after a business trip. The main store is located in Marutamachi, Kyoto. There were no customers at 5:30 PM, so the atmosphere was a bit dull. I ordered the parent and child bowl for 977 yen. The chicken was tender and there was a lot of it, which was delicious. Personally, I prefer chicken with a bit more texture and bone. The amount of scrambled eggs was generous and appreciated. The seasoning was slightly strong. The rice was a moderate amount and easy to eat. The miso soup had a taste that was a mix of red soup and miso soup. It seemed like good quality eggs and chicken were used, and the taste was worth the price. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I visited during lunchtime. The layout of the restaurant is a bit strange, with the kitchen in the front and the counter in the back, making it hard to tell if it's busy or not. The staff also may not notice you when you enter, so don't hesitate to speak up and ask if there are available seats. It's a casual version of Yagitei, a restaurant frequented by Ken Takakura in Kyoto. I enjoyed the oyakodon, duck soba, they were delicious.

I had lunch during my business trip to Osaka. I originally planned to go to a different restaurant, but it had a long line. So, I wandered around the inside of Shin-Osaka Station and ended up visiting this restaurant. The interior had a counter and tables for two, with space for about 20 people. I saw a photo with lots of green onions and decided to order the Duck Namba. It was served in about 5 minutes, with plenty of duck meat and green onions on top. The broth had a delicate and gentle flavor. The duck meat was satisfying to eat. The noodles were thin and easy to soak up the broth. The green onions were crunchy and enjoyable. However, it was a bit pricey, costing over 1000 yen, so the cost performance was a bit of a problem. Thank you for the meal.

We visited around 5:50 in the afternoon with a total of 3 people, including 2 companions. We secured a 4-seater table on the left side as soon as we entered. We ordered a parent and child bowl and duck Nanba set for 1,637 yen, and a bottle of Ichiban-fuda barley shochu for 440 yen. The duck Nanba udon noodles were soft and round in cross-section, with a soy sauce-based broth that had a strong duck flavor and plenty of green onions. On the other hand, the parent and child bowl had ingredients such as egg, onion, and chicken in a well-balanced soy sauce seasoning served on rice. Thank you for the meal.

At Hachikia-an, you can enjoy a unique dish called parent and child udon that you can't find anywhere else. It's a must-try before boarding the Shinkansen. The flavor is amazing, with a gentle broth, fluffy egg, generous chicken pieces, and sweet onions. Sprinkle a bit of sansho pepper for an extra kick. The udon noodles are Kyoto-style, thin and soft, making it a delightful dish. I highly recommend trying this udon.

I waited for quite a while, as there were only two customers in front of me. I thought it wouldn't take long, but it ended up being a substantial wait. I started to worry about my Shinkansen train time. Finally, my donburi arrived. The oyakodon had a rich broth and was delicious. Thank you for the meal. It was delicious. 6.2

~ Ingredients and Hospitality ~ Located in Marutamachi, Kyoto, "Kyono Toridokoro Hakkian" is a chicken cuisine specialty restaurant loved by many celebrities. Established in 1970, this long-established restaurant has opened a new branch in Shin-Osaka with a fresh new look. Enjoy the new Hakkian, which has inherited the carefully selected chicken used in the "carefully made parent and child bowl" and the specialty "Duck Nanba" finished with duck meat, Kujo green onions, and sansho pepper. I was curious about their website, so I stopped by. I ordered the parent and child bowl and a mini Duck Nanba udon set for 1,637 yen. The carefully made parent and child bowl is 977 yen if ordered separately. Delicious!

I visited this place on the 2nd floor of Shin-Osaka Station, inside Arde Shin-Osaka. The interior has table seating and counter seating, and the main menu consists of udon and rice bowls. I ordered the Tsukimi Tororo Kujyo Negi Udon. Let's dig in! The appearance is like Tsukimi, with only egg yolk and white Tororo around it. The broth is a Kansai-style one, which is reassuring. The udon is quite soft with little chewiness. It has a similar feel to Osaka-style udon, so if you expect the chewiness of Sanuki udon, you might be disappointed. Overall, it was a satisfying meal! However, the operation of this store is poor, especially in terms of guiding new customers. Many potential customers end up leaving without being greeted properly, which is a missed opportunity.

I visited this restaurant in search of a weekday lunch spot at Shin-Osaka Station. One of Osaka's specialties is udon, and it seems like this place is a udon restaurant with its main branch in Kyoto. I ordered the duck nanba, which is said to be a specialty here. The taste is very gentle, with the green onions adding a nice accent. The flavor is decent, but the prices are a bit high, probably due to its location at Shin-Osaka Station. Thank you for the meal.
