It had been a long time since I last visited Gindako. I always thought of it as a pioneer in the field of fried takoyaki. I prefer my takoyaki to be a bit gooey inside, so I had stayed away for a while. But this time, after trying it again after a long time, I thought it was delicious! They put aosa seaweed in the batter, which gives off a great aroma. The crispy outer texture and aroma are also great, and the inside is slightly gooey. The negi takoyaki is eaten dipped in a dipping sauce with grated daikon, and it goes really well with highball. I think it's incredibly delicious. I originally planned to eat four takoyaki and leave, but I ended up ordering six more regular takoyaki to try them out. They're really doing a great job. I can see why they have locations all over the country. By the way, the celery was also seasoned well. It's a great place to go when you want a little more to drink or just want a light drink. The purpose of leisurely strolling on holidays is to find a place where you can easily have a drink. I found such a place inside Kokura Station. This place offers a "senbero" set, but upon closer look at the menu, it seems like you can drink even more affordably. A highball, a lemon sour, and 4 pieces of takoyaki cost less than 800 yen. This is too good of a deal! Even if you have one more drink, it won't exceed 1000 yen. With various items on the menu, depending on the combination, you might be able to drink even more affordably.

We ordered the following: - Takoyaki (341 yen): I had a bad experience with takoyaki from a famous shop in Tokyo over ten years ago, so I avoided it since then. However, the takoyaki here was surprisingly good. It wasn't too hard on the outside and was creamy on the inside. Maybe it depends on the skill of the person making it. You can order a small portion, which is convenient. - Takoyaki with green onions, grated daikon, and tempura sauce: This was refreshing and light. Personally, I associate takoyaki with sauce and mayo, so I might not order this again. But the fact that you can order a small portion is a plus. - Takotō from the takoyaki shop (484 yen): This was my favorite. The large octopus pieces made it feel like a real takoyaki shop. Despite the standard soy sauce flavor, the generous portion of octopus made it satisfying. I think I would come here alone and order the takotō as my main dish next time. Overall, the food was better than expected, and it could also be a good option for izakaya-style dining. The menu is limited, so you may need to go to other places for sashimi or raw dishes. There is a food and drink street called "30 Steps from the Station" next to the Shinkansen station in Kokura. I had tried almost all the restaurants there except for one - "Gindako", which is not very popular among people from Kansai. I decided to give it a try one day when they were having a half-price highball sale until 6 pm. I ordered 4 takoyaki balls along with my drink. Unlike a previous experience at a different location where the takoyaki was too hard, this time it was freshly made and enjoyable. However, I found the outer layer to be too crispy and oily for my liking. Also, the sauce was a bit lacking compared to the excessive amount I had encountered before. Nevertheless, I have now completed my tour of the "30 Steps from the Station" food street!

Tonight, my partner and I had a great time at "Gindako Highball Sakaba". It was our debut at this place. We didn't know the menu, but we decided to give it a try. I came to Kokura for a company drinking party. I had about 20 minutes to spare before the meeting time, so I came here to kill time. It's amazing! The takoyaki is being grilled and automatically rotating (゚д゚) I wish I could post a video on Tabelog. This place is a highball bar, but I decided to go with beer and takoyaki before the drinking party so that the toast with beer at the actual party would still taste good. Since it's located in the station, it's a great place to stop by for meeting up with people, killing time, or waiting for the train. It's a bit crowded but nice.

I chose takoyaki with mentaiko and cheese, which is not a common combination. Thank you for the meal. It took about 10-15 minutes for the takoyaki to be cooked after ordering. I leisurely tapped on my phone while waiting, and ended up finishing my beer with just the edamame, so I ordered a highball when the takoyaki arrived. The mentaiko and cheese takoyaki was a bit rich, with plenty of mayonnaise, and it paired well with the highball. It seemed like a flavor that could get a bit boring, but having 4 pieces was just the right amount. Although it didn't blow me away, it was quite delicious, and the service was good. I will visit again.

Personally, "Gindaco Highball Izakaya" is well known for its "Happy Hour". The regular size Highball for 380 yen is now 200 yen, and the Mega size for 680 yen is now 400 yen. I stopped by this shop next to the station on my way back from shopping in Kokura and had some takoyaki while enjoying a drink. I ordered the mochi cheese mentaiko and negi tako. I originally planned to have just one highball, but ended up having another. The mochi cheese mentaiko had a crispy outer layer and a creamy inside, complemented well by the mentaiko sauce.
