Five of us gathered from Okinawa, Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Kitakyushu, and Kagoshima in Kyushu for a second party. We asked for a chef's choice of sake appetizers. The squid marinated in Okinawan style had a good texture without overpowering the natural flavor, with just the right amount of seasoning. It paired well with sake, whether with or without wasabi. The tuna and bitter melon dish had a nice combination of flavors. The asparagus and bacon dish had a refreshing seasoning. The asparagus and bacon complemented each other well. The rolled sushi with mentaiko was definitely from Hakata! It was beautifully rolled with a gentle broth. Finally, we enjoyed the main dish of spoon sushi. Everyone was happy, so it was a great meal!

I visited the restaurant 【Sushi Sakaba Saji】 for a long-awaited drinking party. My companion, who is always late, did not arrive on time as usual, so I started drinking beer alone. After a while, my companion arrived and we toasted. The staff greeted us and explained the dishes and drinks. The neighboring table seemed to be regular customers, receiving special dishes and explanations. The course dishes were carefully prepared and delicious. However, the sushi that came out with the remark "We have someone who can make sushi today..." left me feeling unsure. Was it because we came with acquaintances that we were able to try it today? There were many things that didn't quite make sense, which led to this review. Despite the incredibly delicious sushi, I left feeling disappointed. Thank you for the meal.

There were counter and table seats available, but this time we were provided with a private sunken kotatsu seat ♥️ It was also smoking-friendly, so it's a nice place for smokers. We reserved a course meal, which included small dishes, assorted sashimi, cute chawanmushi spoon sushi, fish dishes, tempura, charcoal-grilled red beef, clay pot rice, and miso soup. Everything was delicious and we were very satisfied. We will definitely make a reservation again!

The sushi and other dishes were delicious. Every dish recommended to us was a hit, especially the Itoshima pork. The flavors were really good and the presentation of the dishes was appetizing. The only downside was the environment inside the restaurant. The air conditioner was dripping a lot of condensation onto the counter table, causing our clothes to get wet. We managed to protect our plates and glasses, but no matter where we moved, the water kept dripping. I hope they can improve the temperature setting or table positioning. Also, for those concerned about mask-wearing, I recommend waiting until things settle down before visiting. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic, but their loud voices and talkativeness made it hard to relax.

After dinner on the way home, my husband, who didn't have a dessert, mentioned that he wanted to eat something light like rice or sushi, so I remembered this place and decided to check if there were any available seats. Previously, this place used to serve French cuisine for lunch and izakaya for dinner. I have tried their French cuisine for lunch before, but now, it seems they only serve izakaya dishes for dinner. We ordered a craft beer (550 yen) and plum wine (500 yen). The appetizer was surprisingly shrimp tempura. The shrimp was big and delicious. We also had sweet potato tempura (500 yen) and thick mushroom tempura (450 yen), which was good but the batter was a bit disappointing. The orange sake (500 yen) was rich in flavor and delicious. The scallop herb butter grill (750 yen) was tasty, and they recommended using the leftover sauce to make risotto. The risotto (350 yen) was cheesy with a nice touch of black pepper. The minced cutlet (350 yen) had a firm texture. We also tried sweet potato shochu (500 yen). The casual sushi served with a spoon seemed to be their specialty, but the chef made nigiri sushi for us. We had fatty tuna (350 yen), simmered eel (300 yen for 2 pieces), flounder (300 yen), and grunt (250 yen). My husband enjoyed the grunt so much that he ordered more. The eel was smaller than expected, but I prefer thicker pieces. The fatty tuna was good. We also added more fatty tuna (350 yen) and flounder (300 yen). The young owner's storytelling skills were impressive and made the atmosphere enjoyable. My husband and I had a great time joking around and laughing. It was a cozy and pleasant place. The total cost for two people was 8650 yen (cash only during shortened hours, but usually, they accept cards).

I had the opportunity to study in Fukuoka and finally visited a restaurant run by a handsome owner. I was seated at the counter, which was perfect because I wanted to chat. We started with a toast with draft beer! The appetizer was chawanmushi, with a choice of chicken or oyster. I chose oysters without hesitation. As soon as the lid was opened, the unique aroma of oysters filled the air, signaling a night of drinking ahead. The owner recommended trying the sesame mackerel since I was in Fukuoka, so I did. The sesame mackerel had a stronger sesame flavor than what I was used to, and the freshness of the mackerel was evident. Next, I had two crab dishes in a row! 1) Zuwai crab mountain 2) Ultimate crab cream croquette. The Zuwai crab mountain was a visually appealing dish with layers of Zuwai crab meat stacked like a mountain and topped with salmon roe. I could taste the crab well. The crab cream croquette was rich and had a different color inside, perhaps containing crab miso. The dashimaki tamago with conger eel was a gentle dish with conger eel added to the rolled omelet. Both are favorites of mine, so it was nice to have them together. The jumbo shiitake mushroom was huge and packed with the umami flavor of shiitake mushrooms. Lastly, I tried the signature spoon sushi of the restaurant. Served on a spoon, I ordered 10 out of the 12 available varieties. I started with the foie gras, which was just the right size and allowed me to savor the flavor of foie gras. This restaurant was a great find, and I will definitely be going back. Just a note, the owner being handsome is a matter of personal preference.

This time, I went to Sushi Sakaba Sajisan located at 1-3-23 Daimyo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. When I arrived at the address of the restaurant, I was a bit confused at first as to where it was because the entrance is like a hidden gem, which is nice. The interior of the restaurant is small, with a counter and some table seats at the back. The counter is right in front of the kitchen, so you feel a close connection with the chefs. I started with a toast with a draft beer, which was especially delicious since it was the first day I could have it. The sesame mackerel served as an appetizer was really tasty. I ordered more beer and additional dishes like the Aso red beef shabu-shabu, thick shiitake mushroom grilled with salt, salt-roasted ginkgo nuts, grilled sea bream scales, and sushi with sea urchin, flounder, and blackthroat seaperch. The fish was fresh, the shabu-shabu broth was elegant with a vibrant pink color, and the sea bream scales were crispy and delightful. I also enjoyed some ginkgo nuts with my beer, totaling about 4 glasses. The sushi pieces were large enough to fit on a wooden spoon, resembling hand-rolled sushi. It was a satisfying experience to enjoy Japanese cuisine after a long time. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I have only been to the lunch at this restaurant, but I decided to try the new second branch that was trending on Instagram at this time of the year. We didn't get any appetizers, but we were served something wrapped in duck breast. Duck as an appetizer was a surprise! The sashimi was so delicious that it overwhelmed me. The mackerel was so fresh and firm! It was frustrating that we only got one piece each. One of my friends is close with the owner, so we left it to him to recommend dishes, and we were served lobster fry which was thick and very satisfying. We also had crab miso tempura, charcoal-grilled Matsusaka beef thigh, charcoal-grilled barracuda, charcoal-grilled golden-eye snapper, seafood parfait, thick sardine fry, scallops with seaweed butter, and more. We enjoyed the meat and fish dishes with plenty of sake! For dessert, we had the popular "one-bite sushi" at this restaurant. It's a one-bite size sushi on a spoon. It looks amazing when you order 10 different kinds! We played rock-paper-scissors to choose our favorites. I got the shrimp and prosciutto caviar that I was aiming for. A small amount of rice with a generous amount of toppings. Such luxurious sushi! Everything was delicious, and there's nothing to complain about. If I had to say one thing, the seafood parfait was smaller than I expected, which was a bit disappointing. The bill was higher than I expected, but we ate and drank a lot, so it's understandable. Apparently, it's a French restaurant for lunch and a bar for dinner. It seems like you can use it according to the occasion! Thank you for the delicious meal.

Sushi Sakaba Saji, the second store of the famous bite-sized sushi restaurant "Gogogo" in Maizuru, has recently opened. The interior of the restaurant is clean and it is recommended for small groups as the space is a bit narrow. When I first looked at the menu, I thought it was a bit limited, but all the dishes looked appetizing and I ended up ordering a variety of items. The sashimi platter is shown in photos as one serving per person, with 2 pieces each, making it a shareable amount for two people. The sashimi was fresh, firm, and delicious. The standout dish for me was the "Ebi Manjo with Aosa Dashi." It's a must-try dish if you're not allergic to shrimp. You can fully enjoy the texture of the shrimp and the perfect match with the aosa dashi. I couldn't help but order it multiple times. The dashi was also flavorful and comforting. The Kanimiso Tempura was served with shiso leaves, adding a strong shiso flavor. The Anago and Nodoguro charcoal-grilled dishes were undeniably delicious. Grilling high-quality ingredients simply over charcoal is a surefire way to make them tasty. The Matsusaka Beef Misuji charcoal-grilled dish is another must-order item. The Matsusaka beef is incredibly flavorful, and the Misuji, a cut from the inside of the shoulder blade, is very tender and packed with umami. It has no unpleasant fatty taste and is a refined cut of meat. For the finishing touch, I ordered the Crab Zosui. It had plenty of crab meat and a gentle flavor. Sushi Sakaba Saji operates during dinner hours from Monday to Saturday, and on Sundays, it transforms into a French restaurant for lunch and dinner. This unique business model is quite interesting!

Going to a restaurant in the same group as the previous one for the second time, lol. #It's really hard to find a restaurant that's not crowded. I'm interested in having French cuisine for lunch.
