I came to Kurume, so I went to MALIBU, known for its delicious burgers. I tried the Special Burger for 1460 yen. The patty, which seems to be ground in the shop, and the smoked bacon were irresistible. Even though I'm not a big fan of burgers, I finished it in no time. I highly recommend this place! ^ ^

Popular hamburger restaurant in Kurume, "MALIBU", owned by Fumi Uchibori who used to be a reporter on the popular Fukuoka information program TNC "Momochi Hamastore". Ordered the "MALIBU Special Burger" for 1,250 yen, which comes with fried potatoes, pickles, and a drink for an additional 200 yen. Chose the "Ginger Ale (spicy)" for the drink. The base of the burger includes homemade smoked bacon and cheddar cheese, creating a gourmet burger. The highlight is the "Chopped Steak Patty", a masterpiece that the owner has researched for many years, giving it a steak-like texture. It also includes thick-cut smoked bacon, melted cheddar cheese, and a special white onion sauce, making it a luxurious and delicious treat. The option to add a drink and potato set for an extra 200 yen is quite reasonable. Overall, it was a delightful meal.

The cheeseburger is decent in terms of cost performance.

The handmade patty is not made with ground meat, so when you take a bite, it crumbles softly and has a strong meaty flavor. It's delicious!

The hamburger patty has chunks of meat that are hard to bite through, but it adds to the homemade feel and enhances the flavor! The bread is freshly baked and fragrant. I want to go back again!

Malibu is a burger joint in the Kurume area that serves authentic hamburgers. The thick-cut smoked bacon and juicy patty are flavors that will surely be popular among the locals in Kurume. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere with open windows, and on a sunny day, you can enjoy your meal on the terrace. The homemade smoked bacon clam chowder is a must-try starter, and the Malibu Special Burger with smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, chopped steak patty, white onion sauce, tomato, and lettuce is highly recommended. The combination of flavors and textures in the burger, along with the carrot rapeseed side dish, is truly satisfying. Although it may be a challenge to visit Kurume just for a burger, Malibu is definitely worth a visit when you're in the area.

Today's lunch was a takeout from "Malibu." The location is just off Showa Street at the intersection of Hotarugawa 1-chome. It's a takeout-only hamburger shop. When I arrived at 11:40, I walked through the awning to enter the store directly from the sidewalk. The operation had 1 person in the front and 2 in the kitchen. There were 2 customers ahead of me waiting for takeout. The waiting area had regular benches as well as donut-shaped benches to ensure social distancing. I ordered 2 hamburgers (920 yen each, tax included) and 1 chili cheeseburger (1,190 yen). You could add fries for an extra 110 yen each. I noticed fries were also available as a side for 330 yen. When I asked which option had more fries, the cashier said the 330 yen side order would have a bit more, so I went with that. The service took about 10 minutes. They packed the food in a thermal bag for me to take home. I opened the burger wrapping and tried the chili cheeseburger. The buns were a bit soggy from the steam, but that's expected with takeout. The flavor was spicy from black pepper, followed by the rich taste of the meat patty. The patty is hand-ground without any fillers, made by hammering together minced lean meat with fat. The texture of the patty was a bit fibrous, but it added to the unique taste. The chili sauce balanced the flavors well. The combination of bun, lettuce, cheese, chili sauce, and patty was delicious. The two people who had the regular hamburgers were even more impressed than me. They were initially skeptical about the price but ended up loving it. They were asking where the restaurant was located while eating. The quality of the takeout suggests that the freshly made burgers must be even better. Oh, and the fries were just average compared to the outstanding burgers. Thank you for the meal.
