On Friday at 6:00 PM, I went to the "Sake Museum" in Nishitanabe. Surprisingly, this bar is located inside a Lawson convenience store. They have a trademark called "Conbini Bar." As a collaboration with Lawson, if you buy one item at Lawson, you can get two drinks (up to 700 yen each) for 1,000 yen. I bought the "Smoked Cheese with Rich Aroma" at Lawson and brought it into the bar. The interior has an authentic atmosphere that you wouldn't expect from a convenience store. The contrast is quite nice. I ordered the "Smoky Blend" with soda. It was delicious, with a strong smoky flavor in the whiskey. I like whiskies with unique flavors like this. The smoked cheese I bought went perfectly with it. They also smoke snacks you buy in the store right in front of you. They even torch bacon and cheese for free. For my second drink, I ordered the "Sanjo Karasuma Junmai Ginjo." It was tasty, with a rich rice flavor, a full-bodied sake. I wonder which sake brewery they collaborated with for this. The menu doesn't mention it. The description says it has a refined and deep elegant taste, with the concentrated flavor of rice. They also provide chasers promptly. The menu mainly focuses on whiskey, with prices starting from 500 yen, which is great. This system is very convenient for those who just want to have 1-2 drinks alone without going to a fancy bar. I had to leave because I had plans afterward, but I would have stayed longer if I could. The bartender was smart and efficient, but the atmosphere was a bit reserved, not engaging in conversation unless the customer initiates it (although I noticed some interactions with regulars). In this kind of casual bar attached to a convenience store, especially in a residential area like Nishitanabe, I think it would be better to engage with new customers to encourage them to come back.
