I visited a popular restaurant in Kushiro. The place was very crowded, but luckily I was able to get a seat at the counter. They had a variety of side dishes lined up for 500 yen each, like a traditional Japanese deli. I ordered tsukudani, beef tendon, nikujaga, and salmon belly, as well as a uni bowl from the menu on the wall for 500 yen. The food was delicious with well-seasoned flavors. The beef tendon was rich in flavor. The uni bowl was a good size as expected, even though it wasn't from Shakotan. Sake was also around 500 yen per serving. The prices and menu options were easy to order and seemed reasonable. There were no tables, just raised seating areas which were lively and perfect for group gatherings. The chef, who I hadn't seen in a while, was still handsome and friendly. The male staff, who seemed like part-timers, were also good-looking and provided great service. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Hokkaido Wandering Journey 97: Kushiro City is lively and has a great atmosphere. I was impressed by how savvy the popular izakaya in Kushiro is at doing business. They display their top items on a boat outside the shop early in the day, such as sea urchin rice bowls for ¥500 and limited edition items for ¥300, which immediately caught my attention. Upon entering, I was guided to a corner with recommended dishes and fish explanations, all priced at ¥500, making it easy to order without hesitation. The master of the shop carefully surveys the entire place with a serious look, while the young floor manager is incredibly skilled at managing the restaurant. They have a good grasp of the finishing touches on dishes and the seating arrangements, giving precise instructions for serving while skillfully arranging the plates. It is an exemplary izakaya that is successful. The appetizer was a salad with prosciutto and crab. Recommended dishes included simmered flounder and whelk. I also tried Kushiro sake from the local area. The appetizer was uni miso, and I finished with a dish of dried fish flakes over rice. Even though the portions were a bit small, I felt satisfied thinking, "It's only ¥500," and if it was a generous portion, it felt like a great deal! When I go to Kushiro, this is a shop I always visit. On the first day of my business trip to Kushiro, around 8 o'clock, I peeked inside and saw that it was crowded. It seemed like I wouldn't be able to get a seat without a reservation, so the next day, I made a reservation and went with a friend. We looked at the table with various side dishes and ordered what we wanted. Whenever I come here, I always order the simmered shark. We also chose from the strips hanging on the wall: sashimi platter, fried chicken, tripe stew, salted salmon roe, grilled cod, salmon roe bowl, beer x8, lemon sour x3, coffee, shochu x4. We drank too much, I forgot what else we ordered. Good sake, good food, everything was delicious! It was a great night in Kushiro.

Cost performance is the best!! I am very satisfied✨ Hello, I'm Beerman. I came to play from Kanto and didn't know any restaurants, so a senior who lives in Kushiro said, "This place is a must!" We arrived at the restaurant and there were no seats available, but they said if we come around 20:30, there might be a chance. The sashimi is 300 yen, and one live oyster is 250 yen. The prices are amazing✨ I kept ordering beer and oysters. Beer refill. Oyster refill. Beer refill. Oyster refill. It was an endless feast☺️ If you want to get a quick and satisfying meal, definitely go here!

On the final day of my business trip, I visited Charinko for the first time. The atmosphere was not touristy, but more casual and welcoming. I was glad I made a reservation in advance, as it turned out to be a very popular spot. I ordered dishes such as tarako simmered in sake, saury stew, grilled hokke fish, yakimeshi, fresh oysters, grilled salmon belly, simmered sea urchin, and crab cream croquettes. The menu changes daily and everything was priced at just 500 yen, which was a great deal for the quality of food. It made me wonder if the people of Kushiro get to eat such delicious food every day, being a port town. The staff, all male, were friendly and energetic, especially the head chef who was very welcoming. It was a fantastic way to end my trip. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

December 2022, we had a year-end party with my partner. We decided to try out Charinko, which we haven't been to in about 2 years. It seems to have changed slightly. The menu table is gone, and the wall menu has also changed a bit. We ordered randomly, but couldn't find the tamagoyaki on the wall menu. When we asked the master, he said they didn't have it but could make it. We had a fun time eating, drinking, and getting a bit drunk. We also visited two more places before calling it a night. When we got back and looked at the photos for writing on Tabelog, we realized we had basically eaten the same things as 2 years ago (laughs). This place has a lively atmosphere and the food was delicious. Thank you for the meal. - - - - - - - - - - - Additional note: This will be my last update for the year. After 6 years, I visited Kushiro again and found this place through various online searches. Even when I requested a change in reservation time on the day of, they kindly accommodated with a cheerful attitude. We arrived at 18:30 and despite it being a Monday, the restaurant was bustling with local customers. The food was delicious, quick, and reasonably priced. I couldn't savor the dishes slowly as my boss kept ordering non-stop, but here are some standout dishes: Flounder simmered in a sweet and savory sauce, sashimi platter with sweet squid and fatty Pacific saury, large and round grilled saury, and various small dishes like marinated squid guts. The drinks included non-alcoholic beer for the boss, a beer, lemon sour, cola, sake flight, hot sake, and coffee shochu for my junior colleague. The total bill came to around ¥20,000, which was reasonable considering the amount we ordered. My boss was extremely satisfied and claimed it was the best meal of the trip. If I ever have the chance to visit Kushiro again, I would definitely return to this restaurant. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I was lured in by the sign that said "Sea urchin bowl for 500 yen" and ended up stopping by. The restaurant was packed, but since I was alone, I was able to sit at the counter at the right time. The atmosphere was very lively, with more local customers than tourists. It's a shame they didn't have Sapporo Classic beer, but that's part of the local charm. The sea urchin bowl looked just like the photo. Well, it was okay, I guess. The oysters were a bit small, but considering the price, it was alright. It might be better to not order from the signboard menu and choose a regular menu item. Sitting at the counter and having plates passed right in front of me made me a bit uneasy. But the cost performance was good. Thank you for the meal.

I was lured in by the 500 yen sea urchin sashimi on the signboard and upon entering, the staff recommended the simmered abalone and beef stew. The beef stew is the second most popular dish, but while it wasn't bad, it wasn't worth ordering all the way here for. Overall, the portions may be on the smaller side, but the pricing is mostly under one coin, so it's affordable. The salt-grilled noodles for 1000 yen is a great deal in my opinion. They offer local and rare sake at reasonable prices, but the serving size is on the smaller side, about half a glass. In the end, I ended up spending more than I expected - was it a mistake in the bill or was the sashimi platter expensive?

I heard that this restaurant is popular among locals, so we decided to have dinner here during our visit to Kushiro. The fresh sashimi was delicious, as expected in this area, and the simmered flounder, beef tendon stew, and octopus zangi were all amazing! Not only did they look delicious, but they tasted delicious as well. We were satisfied with both the quality and quantity of the food, and the cost performance was excellent. We arrived around 5 pm and by 7 pm, the restaurant was almost full. According to regular customers, it can be difficult to make a reservation during the peak season. The conversations with other customers at the counter and the friendly attitude of the master made the experience even better. I deducted 0.5 stars because the complimentary sake was a bit weak. The staff, other than the master, seemed to be in their teens to early twenties. Perhaps they don't drink much alcohol? Regardless, if they can make delicious sake, then it would definitely be a 5-star rating!

A solo customer without a reservation was turned away even though there were empty seats at the counter. However, a group of two without a reservation was seated at the counter right after. It seems like they only fill the counter with an even number of people. That's why they turn away single customers even if there are empty seats. It must be disappointing for the person who was turned away after coming from far away and looking forward to it.

This is my second time using this service. I purchased a Hokkaido certification support shop coupon to come here. Of course, I checked the list of participating stores before coming. However, they told me, "We stopped using coupons. Please pay with cash." I didn't know that could happen. The menu seemed smaller compared to my previous visit, but the prices for each item are still very reasonable! I think the prices are easy to order with.

It's been a while since I visited Kushiro. I was surprised to see a red fox suddenly appear in the drinking district. Afterwards, I went to a popular seafood restaurant in Kushiro. I was amazed by the high quality and variety of seafood dishes. It was delicious.

When I mentioned going from Sapporo to Kushiro, I was recommended this restaurant. I didn't expect it to be so cheap. The shrimp in the shrimp chili was quite large, yet it was only 550 yen, which was shocking. However, I got carried away and ended up ordering too much, even though I went alone, resulting in a bill of about 6,000 yen. It's not good to order too much even if it's cheap (laughs). I'm sorry the photo is halfway eaten! When I arrived after 6:00 PM, the restaurant was full! So I had to kill time before revisiting. I was able to get a table after 8:30 PM, but the restaurant was still packed with customers. Following my friend's recommendation, I ordered grilled salmon belly, the chef's recommendation of simmered flounder, and a sashimi platter. There was also Tokishirazu, but since this was our second stop, we were already full. This was enough for appetizers. I was tired of Sapporo CLASSIC, so I opted for local sake! I enjoyed Hokkai and Fukushi with delicious appetizers! I'm satisfied! Thank you for the meal. Taste 0.8, Atmosphere 1, Cost performance 0.5, Staff 1, Emotional attachment 0.5.

On my 10th stop during my trip to Hokkaido in 2022, I enjoyed French cuisine and game meat at Ordonnance, then headed towards the downtown area. I visited a shop called Chari-nko without an appointment. It was past 8:30 PM and the restaurant was full, but I was lucky to get a seat when some customers left. The interior had counter seats and tatami seating. There was no menu, so you choose from the menu posted on the wall. Drinks start from the 300 yen range, quite reasonable. The place was bustling with various customers, and the noise level increased as more people came in. I ordered the recommended dish of grilled salted octopus for 500 yen, which was delicious and fatty. The prices for dishes were also quite reasonable, starting from the 300 yen range. The inside of the shop is relatively narrow. Towards the back of the counter seats, you have to sit sideways. The shop is run by the owner and about four male staff members. Watching them, it seemed like the owner was teaching the boys their work in a very polite and instructive manner. Working here would be a good experience, I think. First, you choose what you want to eat from the 8 recommended dishes of the day, all priced at 500 yen. Other dishes and drinks range from around 300 yen to 1000 yen, making this izakaya very cost-effective. Normally, you might think "cheap means low quality," but not here. The food is actually delicious and the presentation is well done. If you're in Kushiro and don't know where to go for izakaya, this is the perfect place for those who don't want to spend too much. They serve sashimi made from fish caught off the coast of Kushiro, and during this time of year, they also offer mountain vegetable dishes like "wild garlic" if they have the ingredients. This is a very popular spot, so it's recommended to make a reservation in advance to ensure you can get a table.

Shark ray simmered, salmon belly grilled, fresh oysters, octopus sashimi, whale sashimi, Fukushi Gin-Ko & Junmai sake. It's been three and a half years since I last had charynko alone on a business trip, and I always make sure to go there. Reservations are a must, even for one person. Charynko is the best place to enjoy Kushiro seafood with local sake.

I got off the plane at 18:30 and had dinner here. I got recommendations from locals. The menu items that come out quickly next to the counter were all delicious, and the sashimi was excellent! I was very satisfied!!! Especially the nikujaga, I want to come back here and eat it again!

Visited Charinko on March 15, 2022. This was my 5th visit, although I haven't reviewed everything. Finished work early and arrived at 5:30 pm. Only one other customer there, so it wasn't crowded yet, which was nice. Ordered two sashimi dishes, shrimp chili, and cheese omelette. Perfect for drinking with alcohol. Especially loved the shrimp chili - the shrimp were large and the chili sauce was delicious. Will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal! ☆
