"Sushi Iwa" in Kyoto, a sushi restaurant that Steve Jobs praised as the most delicious in his life! I had the course meal and particularly enjoyed the conger eel soup, golden eye snapper sushi, and sea urchin jelly! The conger eel was small but fluffy. The soup had a rich conger eel flavor and was delicious. It also had my favorite pickled turnip which was amazing! The golden eye snapper was lightly seared and deliciously fragrant! The sea urchin was sweet and tasty! I also ordered some extra battleship sushi rolls. I had Black Dragon sake and Sasaki Sake Brewery sake since I was there. What surprised me was the dessert, matcha shaved ice, which was rich in matcha flavor and had fluffy ice, it was amazing! As a promise, I took a photo of Steve Jobs' signature near the entrance. It was addressed to the daughter of the head chef. There was another signature from Mark Benioff, who is also an amazing person! #KyotoGourmet #KyotoStationGourmet #KyotoSushi #KyotoTrip #KyotoSushi #SushiIwa #FishLover #SeafoodLover #SushiLover #SteveJobs #Jobs #MarkBenioff"

This time, we chose to use a private room on the second floor instead of sitting at the counter. Every dish, from small plates to sushi, was carefully crafted, and the tuna toro that Steve Jobs loved was truly exceptional. The sea urchin jelly was also delicious once again.

I heard from a friend that there is a sushi restaurant in Kyoto where Steve Jobs visited before. I was a bit skeptical about sushi in Kyoto, but I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is located within walking distance from Kyoto Station, in a corner of Shichijo. The interior is clean but has a traditional sushi restaurant atmosphere. I sat at the counter where Jobs supposedly sat, and ordered the course with Kamatoro, which is their specialty. To my surprise, the appetizers and snacks were delicious with unexpected combinations. The nigiri sushi in the second half also left a great impression, and by the end of the meal, I was very satisfied and glad that I came. The prices for sake are a bit high, but the courses are quite reasonable. So, if you're wondering about sushi in Kyoto, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

I visited a famous sushi restaurant near Kyoto Station recommended by a friend. It's a bit of a walk from the station, but definitely within walking distance. It was a sushi restaurant where the sushi didn't rotate on a conveyor belt, but the atmosphere was still great. It wasn't too crowded when I went, so I was able to chat with the chef. The dishes were creatively prepared and visually stunning. The sushi itself was delicious and made me feel happy. The staff even saw me off outside after leaving the restaurant, making me want to visit again. It was a luxurious dinner, but it's nice to visit such restaurants once in a while. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

This is the training place of a certain favorite sushi restaurant in Gojo. The omakase lunch is 8800 yen. It is famous for being visited by Jobs, but he only came once. However, despite Jobs not liking to sign autographs, the chef mentioned that he must have really liked it. Regardless of Jobs, each dish is carefully crafted and the hospitality is wonderful. Everything is extremely delicious. I ordered the tekka maki as I love it, and it was delicious! The shark skin and crispy wasabi were exquisite. The sake went down smoothly, and although the bill was luxurious, the lunch was very delicious and the hospitality was top-notch. I had a great time! Thank you for the meal.

I heard about a sushi restaurant in Kyoto that Steve Jobs loved. Although I'm not a huge Jobs fan, I've been using Apple products since my student days, which led me to start my own business without job hunting back then. I still use an iPhone and have a soft spot for Apple products, so I decided to visit "Sushi Iwa" near Kyoto Station. They offer à la carte options as well as an affordable course for 8,800 yen, but I decided to go for the 22,000 yen course, which includes the "Kamatoro" that Jobs liked. The meal consisted of a variety of appetizers and beautifully presented dishes, including a deliciously seared bonito and a mouthwatering fatty tuna sashimi. The highlight was the Toro sashimi, which was incredibly flavorful and melted in my mouth when combined with the accompanying condiments. The following dishes, such as the nodoguro with kiwi and lemon vinegar, the delicious sea bream and matsutake mushroom hot pot, and the lavish simmered spiny lobster, were all exquisite. The nigiri sushi that followed was standard but with some interesting twists, like the Kampachi topped with finger lime caviar for a unique texture and flavor. The Kamatoro, which Jobs reportedly ate seven pieces of, was another level of taste experience with its perfect balance of richness and flavor. The meal ended with a refreshing salmon from Nagano topped with wood sorrel and a unique red-fleshed tuna, followed by a peach and Tanba black bean sherbet dessert. The sushi chef, staff, and the owner's hospitality were exceptional, and I even got to hear some stories about Jobs and see his signed memorabilia on display. It was a delightful dining experience that left me impressed.

I ordered a course for 22,000 yen, but asked for a smaller portion as I have a small appetite. I had one glass each of champagne and white wine, bringing the total to about 29,000 yen. The menu included scallop sashimi with tomato sauce, firefly squid and rapeseed flower sashimi, saury sashimi with onion soy sauce, fatty tuna sashimi, grilled throat fish with kiwi, potato fish cake soup, bamboo shoot and seaweed stew, sushi (shrimp, medium fatty tuna, conger eel, flounder fin, grilled shrimp leftovers, sea urchin, bonito, cockle, tuna marinated hand roll), and dessert (seasonal fruit jelly assortment). I found out about this place through a friend, but it turns out it's the sushi restaurant Steve Jobs used to visit. I was surprised by the combination of grilled throat fish and kiwi. The menu here is mainly catered towards international customers, but this combination was truly impressive and paired well with the wine. The moment I took a bite, the acidity of the kiwi and the sweetness of the throat fish spread in my mouth, creating a unique flavor experience! The potato fish cake soup had small, round ingredients inside, which I later learned were lily bulbs. It added a deep and delicious flavor. The texture of the seaweed in the bamboo shoot and seaweed stew was so fluffy, it was amazing! By the time I finished the sushi, I was stuffed, but the eel was soft, the flounder fin had a perfect salty taste, the sea urchin was beautifully orange and rich in flavor, the cockle was chewy and released a delicious broth with each bite. I forgot to take a picture of the marinated tuna hand roll, but the taste was elegant and I somehow managed to finish it despite being full! With a balance of light and rich flavors, from traditional sushi to innovative and modern seasoning, I had a truly happy day enjoying a variety of flavors!

Before heading home for dinner, I stopped by another restaurant where the hamo soup was delicious, the broth was tasty, and the chutoro and otoro were exceptionally good. The slices and nigiri were both delicious, but it seemed like they were focusing on high-quality ingredients. The tuna nigiri had a fresh twist to it, which was quite innovative. The service was excellent, and it seemed like there were regular customers dining there. The matcha kakigori for dessert was also delicious. Overall, the prices were a bit on the higher side. I learned that in Kyoto, they call medium fatty tuna "yokowa," which was new to me.

Long time no visit. Today I sat at the Jobs seat at the counter in the back. It's not traditional Edomae sushi, but a sushi kappo where you can savor the taste of the ingredients. It's a truly delicious restaurant with a Kyoto-like atmosphere. Both the head chef and the young chef are fluent in English, so it seems like everyone here today, except for us, were Westerners. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I knew that this sushi restaurant was famous for being loved by Jobs when he was alive, but when I actually tried it, I thought it was a truly well-balanced restaurant. We had the omakase course as a base and only drank champagne. We started with a toast with Dom Perignon, and then enjoyed seasonal dishes like rape blossoms, firefly squid, and shirasu. The sashimi platter and vinegared dish were delicious, especially the seared Spanish mackerel with kiwi. Next, we had bonito tataki, bamboo shoots, and suri-nagashi... and paired it with caviar in champagne. The special menu item "Sea Bream Senbei with Caviar" had an incredible amount of caviar that almost overwhelmed us! Finally, we had a sushi platter with fatty tuna and sweet shrimp, which were all incredibly delicious. Overall, I think this restaurant offers great value for money in Tokyo. The atmosphere is quiet and you can feel the traditional wabi-sabi aesthetic. It's great to come to Kyoto just for this place.

There were unique combinations such as seared mullet roe sandwiched under flounder, along with kiwi and blackthroat seaperch, which were all very delicious!

I visited this restaurant on a whim in between sightseeing in Kyoto. They have a great selection of wines. I was told after entering that even Steve Jobs had visited this place, and the owner proudly mentioned it. I ordered omakase and added a wine bottle, which came out to be just under 25,000 yen. The tuna was delicious, but the prices were a bit high.

I had a sushi course. Each dish from the appetizer was delicious, with a good balance of fish and rice. The seared sushi I had towards the end was exceptionally tasty. Of course, sake went well with it, but they recommended wine, so I tried that too and ended up getting quite drunk. There was a signature from my idol, Steve, in the restaurant. I would love to visit this place again if I can get a reservation.

Politicians seem to be having a private discussion over a meal in a calm Japanese-style room. The toro sushi was incredibly delicious! I didn't expect such rich flavors in sushi. The appetizers and sashimi were also of high quality. The taste did match the price, but it was still a bit expensive.
