▷Matsunori Mizutaki ¥2,800 ▷Kandori Chicken Tataki ¥1,200 ▷Lettuce Wraps ¥750 ▷Skewers ¥100~ This restaurant specializes in Mizutaki (chicken hot pot) and is run by a popular yakitori restaurant that won second place at a yakitori festival in October last year in Kokura. Using Oita's Kandori chicken, you can enjoy delicious Mizutaki and the restaurant's specialty skewers in a calm atmosphere of private rooms. Start with a recommended dish. The Kandori chicken tataki with yuzu pepper and skewers of heart and liver were delicious, but my favorite is the lettuce wraps!!! The lettuce is crisp, and it goes perfectly with the homemade ponzu sauce, it's amazing. After enjoying the appetizers, it's time for the main course. The Mizutaki made with soup cooked for over 6 hours daily without any additives is exceptionally delicious! First, try the "soup with thigh meat," then the "soup with meatballs," and finally the "soup with vegetables," and be amazed by the three-stage change in soup flavors. Besides the soup, the vegetables are domestic, and the ponzu sauce is homemade, which is also a delightful touch. The tantan noodles made with the Mizutaki soup for the finishing touch were rich and delicious. From start to finish, the staff takes care of everything, so you can enjoy your meal without worrying about the cooking process. The food is delicious, and the service is attentive, making it a great choice for gatherings, parties, or treating special guests. Thank you for the delicious chicken dishes. ☺️

On Friday night, after finally finding a restaurant that wasn't fully booked, we were seated in a private room which was much appreciated. Although the specialty seemed to be hot pot, we were in the mood for yakitori or seafood... so we ended up ordering a variety of skewers. The appetizer was chicken skin, I think? When the appetizer is delicious, it raises expectations. We ordered negima, pork belly (with miso sauce), chicken skin, tsukune (with raw egg yolk), chicken wings, shiso rolls, lettuce wraps, thick tofu, zuri (gizzard) carpaccio, and enoki mushroom rolls. Everything was delicious, but personally I liked the appetizer, enoki mushroom rolls, and lettuce wraps the most. The alcohol selection mostly consisted of lemon or grapefruit sours, and there were no sweet options. There were also beers, wines, and sake on the menu, and I wondered if there were wines that would pair well with hot pot or yakitori. However, I had to refrain from drinking too much as I had work the next day. I enjoyed a refreshing lemon sour. Even though I was already full, I think trying the hot pot would have been nice. It must be delicious. Thank you for the meal!

The boiled soup was delicious and excellent. The staff prepared everything, and they even put the soup in individual plates, which was very convenient. The soup came in three stages, each with a different flavor, which was interesting. Especially the last soup, with the essence of vegetables seeping out, was amazing.

I had never eaten Mizutaki at a proper restaurant before, so when I heard that a new restaurant had opened in Kokura, I decided to go. The restaurant is called Uomachi, and of course, they have a paid parking lot. Each table is a private room, and a staff member is assigned to assist with cooking and explaining the hot pot. The cloudy soup was delicious, and the vegetables were sweet. The Mizutaki, enjoyed with the special ponzu sauce, was also delicious. It was a bit disappointing that there was no Zuri sashimi in the course menu, but I appreciated being able to relax and enjoy the meal at a leisurely pace.

I visited a new sukiyaki restaurant called Matsuoya, so I went to try it out. I went for lunch this time. They have all-day service, but the lunch menu is available from 12pm to 4pm. You can order skewers from 4pm onwards. Today, I ordered sukiyaki, chicken sashimi, sesame salad, beef tongue skewer, top tongue skewer, and black pork belly skewer. I mentioned that I also wanted to try some skewers, and since the restaurant was not busy today, they kindly allowed me to order some skewers as well. The staff were very friendly. The sukiyaki had a rich flavor and the chicken was very tender and delicious. The meal ended with a porridge. It was tasty with a rich and creamy soup, but it made me curious to try the noodles. The skewers may not have the best value for money, but the top tongue skewer was delicious.

This is my first visit. I'm happy that they serve lunch until late, from 12:00 to 16:00. I was told that if you want skewers, you can have them after 16:00. Today, they allowed me to order skewers as well, which I appreciate. I had the Mizutaki (chicken hot pot) and the finishing zosui (rice soup), Kurobuta pork belly, beef tongue skewers, beef tongue gushi, sesame patty, and tataki. The Mizutaki was delicious, with the broth becoming richer with each refill. The vegetables tasted great in the flavorful broth. The chicken was flavorful as well. The zosui at the end was also very tasty. The beef tongue skewers had a slight odor. The beef tongue gushi was tasty but small, making it feel a bit overpriced. The Kurobuta pork belly had a good amount of fat, providing a satisfying bite. It was nice to be able to try the rare beef tendon. The tataki had a slightly crispy skin and was tender. The chilled aged sake was easy to drink. The staff was friendly. Thank you for the meal.

I was planning to go to bed when I got a call saying, "I'm free tomorrow, let's go eat, I feel like having Mizutaki." I remembered a new restaurant in Kokura and made a reservation. We opted for the cheapest Ume course at 5,700 yen, which included "Seared Skin with Vinegar," Mizutaki, Zosui, and dessert. The seared skin with vinegar had a nice crispy texture and the meat was well attached. My friend got excited and added "Zuri sashi" and "Tataki." The Zuri sashi was decent, but the Tataki was delicious with a nice char on the outside. As for the Mizutaki, it was a clear white broth type with a moderate flavor that was tasty from the first bite. The pot included tender bone-in chicken that had soaked well in the broth and additional tender meat, offering two different textures to enjoy. There were also meatballs in the pot, which had a rich chicken broth flavor making the Zosui a delicious finish. However, the broth with added meat and minced meat would have been better suited for ramen rather than Zosui. There was an option to add Dan Dan noodles for an extra charge, but it felt a bit out of place and it would have been better if we could choose between rice or noodles for the course ending. I also want to mention the ponzu sauce, which was undoubtedly homemade with a high level of clarity. It seemed like the broth was well extracted and the soy sauce was a light blend. I wished they sold it because it was so good. I really liked the parent restaurant "Matsuoya," and though it was disappointing when they withdrew from Kokura, it might have been a wise decision during the COVID-19 pandemic to opt for complete private rooms like here rather than open table seating. The staff, especially the person who attended to our table, was very attentive and professional, and I was surprised to learn that they were just a part-time worker, not a full-time employee. In the same price range, there are upscale izakayas where the staff are flashy with nail art or wild hairstyles and rough language, but I try not to be too critical as I understand the current shortage of staff. However, restaurants with good staff like this one make me want to recommend them.

Late lunch. Sukiyaki that is hard to find in Ogura. The restaurant used to be a yakitori place, so the chicken was delicious and the service from the staff was great. The porridge at the end was also delicious.
